You can type the words "A thread" OR use the emoji for thread. You don't need both.

Just innocently driving his tank down a street, minding his own business when he was ruthlessly and brutally captured for reasons unknown, despite being completely innocent of anything, including assaulting civilians with a tank.

"Kidnapped from his tank" has to be one of the most self-evidently egregious bits of journalistic malpractice from this whole thing.

It takes no context at all to know that if someone is in a tank, they're a solider, and soldiers don't get "kidnapped", they get captured.

There can't even be a subconscious bias by "journalists" who have fully bought the propaganda making them write it without thinking about it. There's no way to mentally form the phrase "kidnapped from his tank" without absolutely knowing what you're doing.

I would say I hope they feel a little shame each time they write that, but I know they don't.

TBH, it is so absurd, it can be a deliberate malicious compliance.

Journalists who write this shit deserve to be buried alive.

I think beaten with crowbars is also needed

What you don't just take your tank on a cruise around town? Pop out in the tank to get some groceries?

[–] [email protected] 14 points 6 days ago

My state won't even let me drive a tank around town anymore, all because of Big Woke.

They also don't extend the same kindness to Hamas or Palestinian people. They are captured, even if they are not combatants, and they are prisoners when they get released, not hostages.

Its one of the reasons leftists should consider journalists collaborators. Calling it a "war" is another red flag

[–] [email protected] 26 points 1 week ago

To lie like they do, you must know the truth and dance around it, for blood money.

No rehabilitation for stenographic mercenaries.

This ridiculous wording broke my brain. I thought maybe hamas liberated a killer whale or something, like maybe they've got a peta arm. Dumb, sure, but not as dumb as this. I don't even feel bad, "kidnapping" a soldier is too stupid to consider

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 week ago

I was having a hard time myself wondering who was being kept in a terrarium and why.

Like you said, the real thing is actually more dumb.

If only there was some term for soldiers captured by their enemy. Perhaps we could even have some sort of international legal code to govern the conduct and treatment of these people.

he was just peacefully driving around in his tank, writing poems and bringing stuffed animals and candy to the children of the neighborhood.

"We came in peace, seeking gold and slaves."

I am Nimrod's brother. When I see people make fun of him and associate him with the government, it makes me sad. He is a nice man who loves animals and laughing. Please be more considerate.

Thank you,

Who made that man a tank commander?

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 week ago

I did, sir, he's my cousin! thumb-cop

[–] [email protected] 51 points 1 week ago

what was he doing in the tank? honk

what was he doing in the damn tank? big-honk

[–] [email protected] 48 points 1 week ago

It's comical how Israel will work itself in circles to present even their military as being poor, innocent, doe eyed do-gooders

[–] [email protected] 47 points 1 week ago

The evil Soviet Union kidnapped the German sixth army who were just minding their own business in Stalingrad

[–] [email protected] 47 points 1 week ago

Shouldn’t liberals be happy about a tankie getting kidnapped? thinkin-lenin

[–] [email protected] 46 points 1 week ago

for an entity that is extremly interested in referring to its genocide on Gaza as a war, pretty fun that they want to call their POW's "hostages" and they call the Palestinian hostages they took "prisoners."

[–] [email protected] 43 points 1 week ago

Cant even say prisoners of war anymore

[–] [email protected] 39 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Nimrod can mean a slang term for idiot or jerk, a biblical figure who was a hunter and king, or a hunter in general

[–] [email protected] 56 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

One of my favorite little facts is that "nimrod" entered the lexicon as synonym of "moron" because Bugs Bunny kept applying it to ~~Elmer Fudd~~ Marvin the Martian and very Christian America was too Biblically illiterate to understand that he was making a sarcastic reference.

[–] [email protected] 45 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Elmer Fudd

Not correct actually, it was Marvin the Martian he called Nimrod and it was because of his Roman centurion garb.

[–] [email protected] 32 points 1 week ago

You learn something new every day! Thanks for the correction.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 week ago

Which is why it's very funny that one of the X-Men's greatest villains is an evil robot from the future named Nimrod

[–] [email protected] 37 points 1 week ago (2 children)

My brain was too innocent for a moment and I thought nimrod was a fish

[–] [email protected] 17 points 1 week ago

My mind went through different aquarium creatures. I only got clued in on re-read when I was wondering if the (20) was meant to indicate the manatee's age.

It's terrifying because what if Hamas trains their Israeli manatee hostages? What if they take this war to the bottom of the sea?

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 week ago

I had a similar moment. It’s so messed up the way they’re talking about this.
