very tall and very gold

michael-laugh you know things are going well when someone feels the need to stick to perfectly neutral description instead of an actual opinion.

Using "childish" as an insult. Bruh, have you talked with kids? Literally any kids. Easiest group of people on Earth to radicalize.

as with most denigration that consists of comparison with a lower hierarchical strata, it is not based in truth but in the universality of the discrimination itself. we say that being like a child is insulting largely on the grounds of an adult distaste for the notion of the rights of children. "you don't have the right to protest your conditions: you are dependent on me for any survival at all."

in other words, much like calling police "pigs" is an insult to pigs, calling people childish is most of the time not literally descriptive but first and foremost an insult to children.

But I think we should remember he does a lot of apolitical content like just gaming streams and stuff. I think a lot of his fans mostly like him for the entertainment value and less cuz they totally agree with all his political takes.

there is truth to the notion that at least some significant proportion of his fans are there more for the bloodsport and general news coverage than are there for his specific political ideology. there is not truth to the notion that he spends much time doing apolitical content, it's significantly less than 1% of his overall output in the last three years. also the concurrent viewership drops by half the second he does something that's not news/politics. it's considered a meme within his community the extent to which he says he'll do apolitical content and then doesn't.

for what it's worth, i have no qualm with your take or feelings, i just think you should have up-to-date anthropological data.

[-] Llituro@hexbear.net 25 points 2 days ago

he also tells people to join PSL, i don't think you have a good handle on what his average is. if you're only seeing his most entryist efforts, you're going to get the view being offered to people with little to no political consciousness.

[-] Llituro@hexbear.net 40 points 2 days ago

i'm on the opposite end of the consumption spectrum here and you've pretty much got it bang on. i think his "reformist politics" are overstated. his role is raising consciousness and informing, not getting candidates elected. he's supported candidates who are exclusively opposed by and funded against by the democratic party. they're aren't socialist, but in his broader commentary and established political project, the point isn't to try and magically socialize the democratic party: the goal is to try and help elect people that want to end the genocide, and that they tend to be great mouthpieces for the failed neoliberalist democratic party is all the better.

i've watched the majority of his livestreams over the last few years because i wanted to get a sense of if he is a sincere operator and if he is more radical than what one might perceive based on any other form of being informed about his coverage. i would answer in the affirmative to both.

i think it's likely you disagree with the part of his work that is highlighted here, but i think it's fundamentally unserious to conclude he's a liberal from just that. you can disagree with people that are on your side.

maybe dont get a nazi tatoo if you dont want to get called nazi?

speaking of which, that's another thing that amerikkkans don't care about. the smears didn't work because maine is an extremely white, extremely rural state. the only nazi symbol the average person can recognize and then bring themselves to feel something about is a swastika. otherwise people would (rightly) be making a much bigger and more constant deal about hegseth's equally fascist crusader tattoos.

i've heard that this "autopsy report" might just be complete garbage in quality, like the dnc guy ken martin just handed it off to a buddy who did a shitty job actually collecting the data and such. since we all have a pretty good idea why she lost, turns out people are disgusted by genocide, i think it will be much more interesting if this report comes out and everyone has to make sense not of its conclusions, since we know those anyway, but if a person with any professional experience whatsoever even made it.

link is to a wired article that discusses charliesmurderers dot com which i will not be linking to because it is straightforwardly a doxxing website. seems like any post someone can find under your legal name is fair game to these people. for even the very smallest amount of apathy. one of the people listed is for just saying "and the world kept spinning."

This is a 6-month old video from Taylor Lorenz interviewing the founder of Jubilee. It came across my feed and in light of recent events, contains some interesting reporting on the rationale employed by people who are going out of their way to introduce liberals to fascist ideas.

This interview starts getting interesting around 8:00 and becomes explicitly about platforming fascists around 15:00. The founder goes on and on about "having empathy for both sides" before finally the mask slips and he reveals that he's a former Obama campaign staffer who doesn't like "division." In other words, this reveals that he is an explicitly anti-revolutionary liberal fascist. The project of Jubilee videos is to depress revolutionary sentiments via exposure, essentially. What do they hope to get out of something like putting Mehdi Hasan in a room with 20 Hitlers then? I think what they're accomplishing is that liberals get a little less likely to punch a Hitler in the face when they find one in meatspace, a little more tolerant of being around nazis. In other words, this is the ultimate fascist weaponization of identity politics as a framework. It also functions to help sharpen debate pervertry. One final observation: an insidious thing this guy seems to be doing is equivocating "empathy" with being a debate pervert. Which is obviously not a passable human definition of being empathetic.

i'm really impressed with this coverage from Taylor Lorenz, in particular emphasizing that covid has continued and this country completely abandoned the immunocompromised and most at risk and emphasizing the genocide of Palestinian people. i wasn't aware that this kind of assassination meme had become somewhat popular.
