i love saying that germany should have been turned into israel, but ultimately ethnostates shouldn’t exist. if the USSR won the nuclear weapon race, Stalin wouldn’t have had to stop at berlin and we’d have a multiethnic germany and Palestine and Jewish ppl would thrive in both
but in reality germany should have given reparations to Jewish people in the form of massive tracts of land and have full equality with all other ppl there, becoming full members of german society for the first time in history. Jewish ppl had a unique position in europe as an oppressed people and giving them a state outside of europe and basically telling them to gtfo kind of shows how they were seen as “not authentically european”
tbh they should make seasonal covid vaccines but call it the “SARS vaccine”. but i think chuds would catch on eventually. maybe if they use this discovery to make a new protein-mRNA conjugate vaccine they can say it’s not an mRNA vaccine and they could sit down with trump and stroke his ego till he goes on tv and says it’s a really good, safe vaccine. but even then, antivax ppl are very set in their ways

the discovery in the paper is a good treatment for ppl with immune disorders. but this discovery can also help make a better vaccine that activates the immune system as well as the current mRNA vaccines but has improved ability to cause ur immune system to kill covid. but it’s also a long ways away bc a lot of testing is required to ensure it’s safe and more effective than current vaccines
this article discusses monoclonal antibodies, which is a great treatment option for immunocompromised people. but monoclonal Ab treatment is more expensive by an order(s) of magnitude than a vaccine.
for general use in the population of ppl with complete immune systems, this research could be relevant in vaccine design. the antibodies in this paper bind to surface proteins on the virus. the mRNA in current covid vaccines is really good at activating our immune system, so future vaccines could contain a conjugate of the protein appended to the mRNA to utilize the immunogenicity (its ability to stimulate immune system) of the mRNA and the efficacy and effectiveness of the protein
edit: that being said, we are years from this work being used in an approved vaccine. you want to make sure the immune response to these conjugate vaccines doesn’t provoke deadly amounts of inflammation, whether the Abs it produces work against the protein or if the mRNA “hijacks” the response, what kind of immune response it produces, etc.
you can use the “synthetic” setting on clothes irons for polyester and nylon (flags won’t really be made of a different plastic bc these are the cheapest reliable cloth alternatives). ~~i think u can use higher heat on them than silk and satin. p sure the synthetic setting is half of the max heat~~
edit: just checked my clothes iron and the “nylon” setting is actually below the “silk” setting. regardless, u can use the “nylon” setting on a flag no problem as long as you use the steam often enough

damn that’s a long ferment! sounds really good tho! i just did my first batch with habaneros, serranos, garlic, onion, carrots, and a few spices. i did a 3 month ferment and it came out really good.
im thinking abt making a new batch and fermenting for a year. how different is the flavor with longer ferments?

recently inherited these cast irons that are at least 40 years old. they were sitting in a cabinet for a few years and nasty with rust and crusty, old seasoning. i scrubbed the shit out of them with steel wool and lots of soap, then applied 4 coats of new seasoning! feel free to roast my seasoning, i have no idea if it’s good since it’s my first cast iron and would like to know.
for each coat of seasoning i just wiped the pan with peanut oil then set the oven at 435F for 20 minutes, then 460F for 10 minutes

the results of the poll on this post show that modded has won 14-12. we will still ensure that mods are not resource intensive so that our users with low spec computers are able to enjoy the server too! the owner is working with another user with experience with this stuff to make a custom modpack. will update with a post asap! in the meantime, if you havent dm'd me already and want to play, send me a dm w ur MC IGN and ill forward it to the owner.

in the announcement post for this, i lacked critical information regarding the mods. the modpack being used is Create Extra, which appears to be mostly performance, minor aesthetic, and QOL mods. it shouldn’t result in a performance decrease compared to vanilla

a user here was kind enough to host a server for all of hexbear (and lemmygrad too)! ill make an update post when the server is up, but in the meantime, dm me with your MC username bc the server will be using an allow-list. i will be vetting accts to ensure no wreckers join (sorry new users and lurkers, maybe we can figure out an alternate vetting process for you). ill be the middlewoman for the allow-list for optimum opsec, so the server owner will remain anonymous and i won’t share the association between HB usernames/MC username with the owner.
