MODERATORS

There were two “Reigns of Terror,” if we would but remember it and consider it; the one wrought murder in hot passion, the other in heartless cold blood; the one lasted mere months, the other had lasted a thousand years; the one inflicted death upon ten thousand persons, the other upon a hundred millions; but our shudders are all for the “horrors” of the minor Terror, the momentary Terror, so to speak; whereas, what is the horror of swift death by the axe, compared with lifelong death from hunger, cold, insult, cruelty, and heart-break? What is swift death by lightning compared with death by slow fire at the stake? A city cemetery could contain the coffins filled by that brief Terror which we have all been so diligently taught to shiver at and mourn over; but all France could hardly contain the coffins filled by that older and real Terror—that unspeakably bitter and awful Terror which none of us has been taught to see in its vastness or pity as it deserves.

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Resources For Understanding The War

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.

Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.

Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.

Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.

On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Telegram Channels

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

Pro-Russian

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.

https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.

https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.

https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.

https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.

https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.

https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.

https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine

Almost every Western media outlet.

https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.

https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

I still haven't seen a consistent message about what happened yet. I've seen rumors that:

  • it was a false alarm
  • it was an accidental alert
  • somebody hacked the system and triggered the alert
  • it was a flock of birds
  • it was a flock of pelicans with lights attached to their feet

Official DPRK media (kcna) published this article shitting all over Canada and calling them the 51st state, insinuating their sovereignty is just like the "ROK".

Also early on suggests that they're on the eve of nuclear war.

Fun read when you ignore the harrowing nuclear part.

spoiler

Pyongyang, October 10 (KCNA) -- Ra Jong Min, a commentator on international affairs of the DPRK, issued an article titled "Only fools can jump into fire with removed on their backs" on Tuesday.

The full text of the article is:

Shortly ago, the Ministry of Defense of Canada announced that it would stage an "Operation NEON" around the Korean peninsula from early October to early November, adding this shows that Canada attaches great importance to the Indo-Pacific region and the international security.

As well known to the international community, the acute situation, the eve of the outbreak of a nuclear war, is prevailing over the Korean peninsula and Northeast Asia owing to the U.S. reckless arms buildup and joint military exercises for aggression.

It is easy to judge that the introduction of fighter planes and warships into such a hotspot is a dangerous act like adding fuel to the flames.

However, it seems that Canada, engrossed in kowtowing to the U.S. without elementary thinking ability, has not properly understood the gravity of the present situation in the Korean peninsula.

Canada's behavior is not only an anti-peace act of wrecking peace and security in the Korean peninsula and stability in the Asia-Pacific region but also a foolish option of destroying its security by itself.

Whenever an opportunity presents itself, Canada is making an impression that it contributes to the issue of peace and security in the Korean peninsula. But what the country has done so far in the Korean peninsula and the Asia-Pacific region is to disturb peace and stability and aggravate confrontation and conflict.

Canada, which dispatched mercenaries to the Korean War ignited by the U.S. in the 1950s, has played a leading role in carrying out the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK in the new century, too.

It has enforced the law on "special economic measures" to totally block trade, financial services and technology transfer with the DPRK and ban the navigation and mooring of our ships and planes in its territory, under the pretext of implementing the UNSC sanctions resolution, since 2011.

In January 2018, it called a "Vancouver meeting on security and stability of the Korean peninsula" with the attendance of 20 countries, including Korean War participants and Japan, to create an atmosphere for provoking the second Korean war.

This year, too, the prime minister and the foreign minister of Canada remained silent about the fact that the U.S.-led joint military exercises are driving the situation in the Korean peninsula to the redline and, instead, slandered the DPRK's exercise of the legitimate right to self-defence, revealing their distrust and hostility towards it.

At a time when the certainty of military conflict in the Korean peninsula is increasing more remarkably than ever before due to the war drills of the U.S. and "Republic of Korea", Canada is committing such rash act of jumping into fire with brushwood on its back, not content with having added fuel to the flames owing to the anachronistic daydream and its blind belief in its American master. We wonder if Canada's thinking is normal.

As the country has such a way of thinking, it courteously asked even a Nazi to attend its recent parliament session to create an atmosphere of welcoming someone, only to be condemned by the international community and apologize for its act.

It is a natural result for Canada which has become inveterate in finding boundless satisfaction and relief in following its master blindly without any clear view.

It is by no means fortuitous that the international community unanimously has branded "Canada's positive effort for peace and security in the Asia-Pacific region" as an attempt to prove its loyalty to the U.S.

If Canada continues acting as a servant of the U.S. as now, it will be called the "51st state" of the U.S. like the "Republic of Korea".

Canada should stop such a reckless act of doing harm to its own interests, clearly understanding that the Asia-Pacific countries are closely following its reckless behavior.

Also noticed that only 4 days ago the "president of Palestine" Mahmoud Abbas sent Kim a floral basket "on the occasion of the 78th founding anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea."

Very pretty.

Israeli Settlers Take Advantage of Gaza Chaos to Attack Palestinians in West Bank; Settlers and soldiers have killed 51 Palestinians in the West Bank since Saturday. At least two Palestinian villages

this current conflict is looking to me as a now or never for palestinian liberation, i think Fatah and the PLO are going to be forced to either join the war or slowly get eliminated in the west bank.

Western journalism is dead. I mean, reporting on the Ukraine war was just flat out bad propaganda, which they're walking back now Russia is gaining ground again. But when it comes to palestine, they never manage to condemn Israel for far worse things they condemn Russia for! Even IF they manage to publish an anti-zionist voice, they have to juxtapose it with Bret 'Paris infestor' Stephens blaming the anti zionist left. Fuck em, hope they fuckin implode.

so, it's very unclear
is the beheaded babies thing real?
it seems like all the news is coming from a single source and there's also one contradicting source
and, tbh
while babies shot dead I can believe, the whole beheaded thing seems a bit
over the top? I won't say unbelievable, because they definitely could have, but
I guess if they did it was purely for the shock value

breathtaking. westerners have no fucking clue how racist they are and they will never ever in a million years do self crit to solve it, we're fucking doomed.

People on Twitter are really running with "The Zionists didn't know about the assault because of Huawei". We basically have zero evidence of the militants adopting Huawei on a completely organizational level. However, it might not be true now, but it'll soon be true, especially if "the Zionists can't spy on you if you use Huawei" escapes Twitter. Plus, I think it would be really really funny if MSM broadcasts this out in order to tenuously link China with Hamas.

NYT article on disinformation about the Hamas attacks, surprised-pika , does not include the beheaded baby lie.

Also it opens with "In the days since Hamas attacked Israel, killing more than 1,200 people in sweeping assaults on kibbutzim, a music festival, towns and other places . . ."

In france-cool , there's a political party that doesn't actually suck: the NPA, the New Anticapitalist Party. They do present a candidate to national elections but acknowledge fully they don't intend to be elected / capitalism can't be rid of through ballots; they do it to take advantage of the equal airwave time every candidate has in order to have public speaking time.

Anyway, recently they published a communiqué about the events in Palestine; saying they "fully support Palestinians" as well as "support the means they chose to resist".

Today it has been announced that they are now under an official inquiry by the state for "terrorism apologia".

I'm getting the impression the US is stalling and genuinely trying to prevent escalation right now. They don't want to commit to this conflict, they didn't want this conflict at all, huge distraction from both Ukraine and China, it fucks up just about every single one of their plans. The winner of this conflict would be China who sits out on the sidelines and watches as the west and every power in the middle east gets dragged into it.

Pretty sure they will be forced to commit. But I don't think they want to.

Interesting analysis: One of the reasons the base attacks were so successful was the combination of rocket fire and ground assault. After years of drills and habit forming on the bases the Israeli troops always go to the same area of the base for rocket fire. Palestinian troops simply showed up at the same time as rocket fire and then mowed down the congregating troops while they were predictably sheltering from the barrage at the usual place, which was well known to Palestinian observers.

Very interesting articles to contrast the attitudes in the media towards South Africa in 1985 and Palestine now. And what O.R Tambo was saying. Well worth reading.

Tambo said that the ANC will not criticize or try to restrain the kind of violence that occurred last week in the Cape Town area, in which nonwhites attacked the homes of white civilians. "We wouldn't be in a hurry to condemn people who have suffered something like 600 to 700 dead shot down by police at the insistence of a government elected by whites. We couldn't," Tambo said.

In Washington, the State Department said South African police have used "excessive force" to maintain order and also criticized the recent call by the African National Congress for greater violence as "irresponsible."

The more things change, the more they stay the same...

German libs are the most pathetically obnoxious commenters on social media. Hindu and Turkish nationalists are pretty bad, but Germans are such America worshippers that I often mistake them for being US citizens before checking their profiles. They've taken a break defending Ukraine to frothing over Israel and claiming anyone supporting Palestine wants genocide. At least the Hindu and Turkish nationalists are annoying af over their own countries.

Three pro-settler views I've heard recently:

"Israel" is a democracy

  1. No it isn't. First of all the zionist entity suffers from the same structural factors as any other capitalist society that renders any real kind of popular rule virtually impossible. But on top of that Israel claims sovereignty and exercises de facto control over the Palestinian areas. The people there has no representation in settler politics and no way of legally exercising popular power. All they have is the Palestinian authority, a bantustan government that is conveniently considered sovereign when it gives Zionists a fig-leaf for disenfranchising and starving Palestinians and non-sovereign when it comes to the occupation regime controlling every aspect of their lives.
  2. Why does that even matter? Is murder and oppression justified if you do it to somebody whose government you don't consider "democratic"? Democracy, or more correctly bourgeois parliamentarism, does not equal moral righteousness, Hitler gained power through a nominally democratic process. This argument is nothing but a modern rephrasing of the white man's burden, a contemptible excuse for evil.

Jews are indigenous to Palestine

  1. This argument literally tries to use iron age demographics as a justification for modern settler colonialism.
  2. So are Palestinians, but somehow their connection to Palestine is considered infinitely less important.

A Jewish homeland is a historical necessity to prevent another Holocaust

  1. Extraordinary claims required extraordinary evidence, yet literally no argument is ever given in favour of this claim.
  2. Jews flourish and live in peace as citizens of nations all over the world. Although antisemitism exists in the world, most governments has long since abandoned it and are doing a lot more to keep Jews safe against discrimination (as they should) than for most other etnic and religious minorities.
  3. Jews living in Russia or Britain or America are a lot safer than those living in the war zone that is the zionist entity where they are constantly at risk of facing righteous Palestinian resistance.
  4. If the people making this claim were serious, and not just making up bullshit emotional blackmail, they would also consider homelands for other historically oppressed people to be "historical necessities" yet I have never in my entire life heard any zionist demand the creation of an ethnostate for the Roma people.

Given Iran's support of Palestine along with Syria, DPRK and others. I think now is a very good moment to speak to any soft-left friends that are still supporting Palestine and explain to them that this is exactly why our "critical support" has always been a thing.

They can't ignore that the people working to give real material support to something that they support are all the places that they've criticised us in the past for having "critical support" for. What would they do without all of these places we critically support? The palestinian people would be alone and there would be absolutely no pressures that make their complete and total genocide harder.

Like, this is a very serious moment that demonstrates exactly who the anti-imperialists are and who aren't.
