In the end, France folded quick to the Nazis because a substantial proportion of French society was sympathetic towards fascism to the point where the Nazis didn't even have to occupy the entire country. Vichy France was only possible because there were enough French fascists and French fascist fellow travelers.

Berletic is part of a constellation of content creators like Richard Medhurst, George Galloway, The Duran, Max Blumenthal, Glenn Greenwald, Carl Zha, Danny Haiphong, Xiangyu, Daniel Dumbrill, Scott Ritter etc. who give the impression that they are anti-imperialist and part of the radical left but often they are deeply reactionary.

Carl Zha doesn't really vibe like that to me. I haven't seen anything openly reactionary from him. He isn't that much far off from other Chinese-tailored-towards-an-Anglophone-audience-that-isn't-some-Falun-Gong-reactionary-cutout Youtube channels like Li Jingjing and Wave Media. The bad thing about all those channels is they don't like talking about socialism and how socialism is why China is the way it is today, but honestly, even CGTN is like this as well. CGTN pretty much never talks about socialism.

I guess they're anti-imperialist more from a left-wing nationalist perspective than a socialist perspective?

I noticed you left out Ben Norton who also makes content with many of the people you listed regularly to this day, why isn't he being included in this constellation despite being so actively engaged with it?

Norton honestly hasn't these days. He had that fallout with Blumenthal. I think the only sus person he deals with recently is Danny Haiphong. For better or worse, he pretty much has stopped doing interviews and collabs with other people.

Unless he's appearing on other people's shows without putting it on his channel, but usually when content creators do this, both of them would put the same collab on their respective channels in order to both monetize it.

I actually don't mind the arbitrary rules that make no fucking sense because most of my rituals themselves are also completely arbitrary that also make no fucking sense if I try to explain it to other people. Even NTs find rituals comforting I guess. I used to despise their arbitrary rules, but now I'm mostly amused by it. For example, NTs respond really well to you saying "bless you" when they're sneezing for some reason. Two simple words means you care a lot about their wellbeing apparently.

The Zionist entity really treats their Mizrahi population with complete contempt. Imagine losing your legs to a Yasin rocket only to have doctors make you a foot shorter.

From the perspective of opposing the US, it actually makes more sense for the PRC to be ambiguous over Taiwan instead of resolving that ambiguity by overthrowing the ROC. That's one thing a lot of people miss. The PRC doesn't actually gain a whole lot by explicitly taking over Taiwan instead of what they're doing right now which is quietly integrating Taiwan's economy with the rest of China to the point where the Taiwanese bourgeoisie has to do what the CPC tells them to do as well as bribing various ROC military officers to lay down their arms should an invasion happen.

Within Taiwan itself, there's a massive political scandal going on right now where the head of the third party is being prosecuted on corruption charges. Additional context:

  1. This third party, the TPP, is officially neither pro-separatist nor pro-status quo. It's uncharacteristically agnostic on inter-Strait relations.

  2. The TPP has the zoomer vote completely locked down. And it's not just voter age zoomers, but zoomers who are still too young to vote. Before the arrival of the TPP, the youth vote was supposed to go to the DPP, the pro-separatist party, but now the DPP is seen as the party of millennials and gen x. KMT continues to be filled with boomers.

  3. Conscription is mandatory in the ROC, so now you have a situation where people of conscription age are more likely to support a party whose head is facing corruption charges.

  4. Every party is more or less corrupt. Both the KMT and DPP are corrupt as fuck. In fact, the official reason why the TPP formed was their claim that the DPP has airs of a progressive party but is largely a corrupt party that doesn't do shit outside of gesturing towards Taiwanese separatism and fearmonger about the KMT selling out Taiwan to get the separatist vote.

  5. The DPP currently has the presidency with basically no political mandate while they don't have control in the Legislative Yuan, which is controlled by a coalition between the KMT and TPP.

  6. The TPP is completely centralized over its head Ko Wen-je.

To put this all together, Ko Wen-je is facing corruption charges because the DPP is threatened by the TPP's ability to attract the zoomer vote, and the DPP hopes that by ending Ko's political career, they can sink the TPP, which is completely reliant on Ko as a central figure. In other words, the DPP is just conducting lawfare over their political rivals. As for the corruption charges itself, he probably was corrupt but not any more corrupt than everyone else.

Given all this, there's no real reason for the PRC to overthrow the ROC. Taiwanese society continues to be divided, and Taiwanese politics continues to be a circus where nothing gets fucking done. Pro reunification sentiment is very low now, but it'll change the more the PRC advances and the more the ROC continues to stagnate. Some formally pro-separatist influencers are already jumping ship to be at least anti-separatist.

I guess it goes back to whether you think worship is an inherent part of the human condition. If we broadly agree with worship -> collective worship -> organized religion, then communism would have to negate the impulse towards worship somehow. I'm not sure how you would get rid of worship. I would imagine that at a minimum, humanity would have to no longer fear their mortality and no longer feel anguish over other people's deaths. So it's not enough that you no longer fear death but you also no longer feel anguish other people's death to the point where you would resort to coping mechanisms to process their deaths.

It's not enough that material conditions get better for people to no longer fear death. In fact, I think it's the exact opposite. As material conditions get better, people will have a greater sense of attachment and ownership over their material surroundings and a corresponding greater existential anxiety towards death which will be seen as an event that robs people of experiencing this wonderful material world. In other words, I believe there's a contradiction between humanity creating heaven on Earth through communism and humanity's understanding of death as robbing people of experiencing heaven on Earth. One form of cope would of course be a spiritual heaven that's a mirror of material heaven.

I believe the general chain is fear of death/anguish over death -> worship as cope over the inevitability and painfulness of death -> collective worship -> organized religion. And I have absolutely no clue how humanity would get over death or whether it's entirely possible. I don't mean individuals but humanity as a collective whole. The only thing I could think of is some kind of transhumanism where (trans)humans can't die. There would be no point in believing in a heaven or a soul if you can't even get to heaven and your soul will never separate from your body by virtue of not dying. But this is complete speculation verging on worldbuilding of some fictional scifantasy world at this point.

they do not own the means of production, they perform labor for a wage, that wage is their sustenance

It's not just labor, but socially necessary labor. And you're vastly underestimating how much pigs earn. Most pigs are taking home 6-digit salaries and are guaranteed that 6-digit salary forever in the form of a pension.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Cops earn too much money to be proles. They are petty bourgeois who use their $120000+ annual salary on paper and the guarantees of a lifelong pension to invest. In a way, I don't even think calling them "foot soldiers of capital" conveys this well. They're more like armed members of the petty bourgeoisie sanctioned by the state looking after their own petty bourgeois self-interest alongside the class interest of their bourgeois masters. The armed members of the petty bourgeoisie not sanctioned by the state are fascist paramilitaries, and surprise surprise, there tends to be cross-pollination between the two because the class background of the two are identical. When a pig evicts and beats the shit out of a tenant, they do so so that their tenants would know their place.

Bonus is the dipshit whispering towards the end like some unhinged serial killer.

For the 3 people who still care about the 2024 Summer Olympics, I've created a csv file that has the participating countries alongside the number of athletes fielded by each country, their world records, their Olympic records, and the amount of three medals won.

I was going to originally create a table, but I don't think there's a way to add a table with sorting and filtering capabilities in a post.

First line is the header.

You know how every once in a while, you have a dream where you're supposed to do something in front of a live audience like give a speech except you didn't come prepared whatsoever but you still had to do it anyways and the rest of the dream is just you trying to go through the embarrassing trainwreck as quickly as possible?

She's living that dream.

I think we are starting to cross that boundary.

Half of the replies: I'm a repeat O- donor, but I won't donate a single drop more until real protections are in place, including high-volume ventilation in donor rooms/vans and high quality (N95 or P100) masks are required on all patients & staff. You have failed in your responsibilities.

I'm planning on adding a dual-booting section to my guide on how to install Linux and I need some input from people who are dual booting Windows and Linux:

  • How did you allocate the partition for Linux? Did you use Disk Management from Windows or did you allocate the partition as part of the installation process?

  • How do you share data between the two partitions? Do you create a third partition that both OS partitions have access to? Do you use external drives/flash drives? Or do you just have no need to share data between the two drives?
