Starting this month you can throw bricks at chuds

The rainbow flag or pride flag is a symbol of LGBT pride and LGBT social movements. The colors reflect the diversity of the LGBT community and the spectrum of human sexuality and gender. Using a rainbow flag as a symbol of LGBT pride began in San Francisco, California, but eventually became common at LGBT rights events worldwide.

Originally devised by the artists Gilbert Baker, Lynn Segerblom, James McNamara and other activists, the design underwent several revisions after its debut in 1978, and continues to inspire variations. Although Baker's original rainbow flag had eight colors, from 1979 to the present day the most common variant consists of six stripes: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet. The flag is typically displayed horizontally, with the red stripe on top, as it would be in a natural rainbow.

LGBT people and allies currently use rainbow flags and many rainbow-themed items and color schemes as an outward symbol of their identity or support. There are derivations of the rainbow flag that are used to focus attention on specific causes or groups within the community (e.g. transgender people, fighting the AIDS epidemic, inclusion of LGBT people of color). In addition to the rainbow, many other flags and symbols are used to communicate specific identities within the LGBT community.

You know how sometimes in fantasy there'll be a city or a country protected by a constant storm of some kind? I've found that in real life. A gas station in the desert near Palm Springs, which has a never-ending sand cyclone whipping around it. When you park your car here you can feel the gusts trying to pick it up and throw it, when you drive through the wall of sand your view goes completely white like you're driving through a snowstorm.

And the gas is ten cents cheaper than across the street, so of course you're going to put up with it.

I don't know how one would spell it, but hear me out: say "rhesus macaque" out loud, but put a G in front. G(rhesus macaque)

Uber gave me a ride worth $50, but refused to tell me to where. I tried asking the rider but they didn't respond so I had to cancel.

Like, $50 to Riverside would be pretty good. $50 to LA would be terrible. I can't make the call of whether to accept without knowing what I'm in for and Uber fukken knows that and chooses to hide that information sometimes to trick you into taking bad deals. Fuckers.

There should be an app that automatically middle-mans Uber and Lyft rides in order to offer a lower price to the rider that the driver gets 100% of. Everyone would win except the CEOs of those companies (lmao).

Last night a father and son got into my cab, initially it was really chill the dad kept complimenting my hair which was fun (they were both a little drunk).

Then the son got to talking about Final Fantasy 14, and like I always do I prompted him to keep going. Helps that I know the game so it was easy to talk about.

Then the dad says something to me like: "When you raid, do you ignore your wife and kids?" I'm like uhhhhh "I don't really raid" cuz what the fuck am I supposed to say to that? He went from 0-100 instantly.

Then the dad gets fucking pissed and starts going in on his son for playing video games. I stayed out of it cuz idk what the context is maybe he's being unreasonable cuz the kid's got his shit together and just plays games as a hobby or maybe the son is addicted and spends all his money on gacha, i don't know but damn if it wasn't a mirror to a certain part of my life and arguments I've had with my mom a zillion times that the only way I was able to stop was by moving out.

Anyway worst vibes of any ride I've ever given. I'm inclined to side with the son on this one too cuz the dad was wealthy and bragged to me about it ("wait 'till you see my house!" bruv you live in one of a hundred identical middle class HOA communities in this city) but didn't tip so fuck that guy.

Having lived my entire life far from anything anyone could call "gang activity", is there a good resource anyone knows of for learning about how gangs work that isn't phrenology or copaganda? I think the conditions that they emerge from are pretty obvious to point out, but how I'm made to understand how they actually work doesn't seem to fit. Why do gangs seem to always punch down and lack revolutionary potential, or even basic community building? Is my framing completely wrong from the jump?

What happens that separates, say, Crips from Black Panthers?

Went on TikTok and found myself surprised at how James Rolfe and Doug Walker keep being made into memes over 20 years since they first started

When I was in college I could barely read fiction. It took me about a year and a half to read the Fellowship of the Ring and the Two Towers

Over the past few days I finished the Two Towers, started and finished the Return of the King. I read most of the Return of the King today, about 300 pages. It feels so, so amazing to have my attention span back and being able to read again

Also the scouring of the shire is a weird chapter right? Like I'm not alone in thinking that it's a weird final quest after the story has ended?

Went to the river on Friday and actually got to SWIM and the water wasn't freezing and it was so so beautiful. Yesterday I hung out with my reading pals and then went to a dope ambient noise performance and it was so good to be social and be outside, it's been really hard for me to go socialize so much (since I became an adult) BUT I HATE THAT MY ALLERGIES ARE SO TERRIBLE. I now have to stay inside all day whether I like it or not because I was so miserable and woke up with itchy eyes this morning. I feel like I should just bite the bullet and get allergy shots every year because I miss pretty much all of spring and half of summer because of this shit stress

I already said it, but people who put [sic] after stuff without errors should be executed.

Okay but quoting a Brit and putting [sic] after every British spelling is funny

Looking for a job sucks, it just feels like everything is cold calling, or submitting my resume to get data scraped to sell to a mailing list.

Vegan substitutes are honestly really good in their own right.

Thereโ€™s this cheese made from cashews I sometimes use with cooking, and itโ€™s pretty good. I also love using hummus and tahini for sandwiches I make for work sometimes. Plus I never liked mayo anyways.

gaming

Friends, I'm honestly considering downloading an aim trainer and grinding for several hours because I'm embarrassingly bad at Splitgate 2.

I used to be silver 1 in Valorant, which I was genuinely proud of because of how much work I put into improving (started bronze 3). But I stopped playing years ago because I really was getting a lot more stressed out than anything else while playing (plus, I switched to Linux). Now in Splitgate I honestly feel like I aim about as badly as someone who hasn't played a shooter game in their lives. I can't believe how bad it is, actually.

level design really is key. cool lighting can get you a really long way but how you actually construct the space is still king.

i just played skyrim's dawnguard with an enb for the first time.. despite the fact the enb makes normal skyrim look really good... the forgotten vale is so much better. even the dragonborn dlc which came later doesn't look as good. if they'd worked on this game a year longer and taken this tack to the full map this game woudda been so good
