I don't think I've ever seen another genocide where the guy doing it describes himself as a friend to the people being genocided or where a genocide would be "less bad" under him as opposed to another genocide. Democrats really are trailblazing new levels of brainrot its astonishing

[–] [email protected] 33 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Eichmann thought of himself as a friend to the Jews iirc from Eichmann in Jerusalem

[–] [email protected] 13 points 2 days ago

You recall correctly. And he specifically identified his close relationship with Zionists and getting them Palestine as evidence.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 days ago

to be fair the israelis do not think this way.

[–] [email protected] 54 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I've really gotta hand it to democrats here, I don't think I've ever seen a more effective strategy to radicalize progressives

Breeding a new generation of activists that will oppose them for the next 50 years is the best spin I can put on this.

[–] [email protected] 31 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The praxis for "I look forward to being executed as a reactionary by the next generation" meme?

[–] [email protected] 14 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

they know what they deserve. but they are continually surprised that day of reckoning never comes for them.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

they've been doing this since Obama's 2nd term. Honestly even since the bailout but especially through the 2nd term. And the 2016 primaries radicalized a lot of people too. Now all of Bidenmala's rightwing policies and genocidal lunacy and ignoring/talking down to and berating protestors and dissenters etc. and furthering this "outside agitator" trope that's always used by white supremacist government and their pigs to justify crushing protests. They did it for MLK even and Wehrmacht Walz used it when sending in the army to crush the George Floyd uprising in Minneanapolis

[–] [email protected] 58 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

Also anyone notice this little conspiracy theory jab at the end there?

Going for the Muslim ban immediately is smart because it was a good comparison point. But then her answer gets worse from there, talking about defending aid for Palestinian refugees (they wouldn't need aid and there wouldn't be refugees if you didn't keep providing weapons to Israel, and that doesn't make up for causing a genocide), and then finally ending by hinting it's not grassroots, but probably foreign actors or something.

"I don't think it's all spontaneous. Some of it is grass roots. But some of it is... Something else."

Ooh, Russia mayhaps, Nancy? Just say it lol.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 2 days ago

the Muslim ban wasn't even stopped by dems they did fuck all about it other than finger-wag like always. It was the courts that stopped it; the same courts the federal supreme court of which Obama gave a seat for free to his "good friends across the aisle" and didnt pressure RBG to retire and which Biden refuses to expand or pack and even denounces the idea. And which for lower courts Biden kept on a lot of Trump's awful appointments ,like that Chevron lawyer who helped defend Chevron's destruction of Amazon and poisoning natives and helped prosecute Donziger

"outside agitators" to discredit protests and justify repression is old as dirt too; and often racist

they did that against MLK even. Wehrmacht Walz used it to justify sending in the army to crush the George Floyd uprising in Minneanapolis

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 days ago

She's been doing this for a while now, telling protesters to "go back to China" and shit.

[–] [email protected] 56 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Well, the unsatisfying answer is shared class interests, but i'm putting forward the proposal that they are a manifestation of America's sins given corporeal form.

[–] [email protected] 50 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

The true icon of sin, the real planet-destroying paperclip maximizer all along:

[–] [email protected] 36 points 2 days ago (2 children)

It's the banality of evil. They are so casual about murder because they never actually see what suffering it creates. It's like they are wearing mental blinders

[–] [email protected] 23 points 2 days ago

Their casualness on the issue conveys a lack of urgency to people who are only casually engaged with world news and the presidential campaign. This makes those (rightfully) engaging on the same issue with a sense of urgency seem, to those casuals, shrill and alarmist by comparison. Wouldn’t you want to believe the person calmly reassuring you that issue is being dealt with?

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 days ago

Not to draw a false equivalence, but once you notice it here, you notice it everywhere

Engineering students graduating and going to work for Lockheed matin and other defense contractors which report to America and it’s client state Isntreal are truly no better, and I will die on this hill.

The “it’s systemic” discussion ends when you are an integral part of the system.

Yay capitalism!

How many days until they start calling Palestinians "uppity"

[–] [email protected] 23 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

One of the most active recent threads about US politics on .ml already have multiple comments calling muslim Americans "stupid" and worse for not wanting to support and vote for government that murders their families and friends.

If Harris loses the election, democrats are going to openly embrace islamophobia and become even more racist.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Harris doesn't even need to lose. You can browse Everything and see liberals calling them barbaric today. Communities in Lemmy.zip in particular.

[–] [email protected] 40 points 2 days ago (2 children)

liberalism "Don't tell me you've all forgotten about the pier!"

But for real, are they trying to pull the "Hamas is evilly controlling the Palestinians! So, really, helping Israel destroy 'Hamas' is pro-Palestinian if you think about it"? blob-no-thoughts

[–] [email protected] 30 points 2 days ago

They will greet us as liberators!

[–] [email protected] 25 points 2 days ago

well given the pier was used to commit perfidy they may prefer people forget it.

[–] [email protected] 34 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Wait Nancy is still alive? I thought she died already

[–] [email protected] 38 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Mistaking her for Feinstein who looked like a literal frankenstein monster kept alive on drugs and puppet strings.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 2 days ago (2 children)

It's a little early in the day for philosophising but it is a good question: are the undead 'alive' like you and me just because they give the appearance of consciousness?

[–] [email protected] 39 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Very nice genocide, of course! nineteeneightyfour

[–] [email protected] 33 points 2 days ago (2 children)

So funny how this emoji looks just like Dr Phil

[–] [email protected] 28 points 2 days ago

Dr. Phil:

Your well being is not the responsibility of the state, the well being of the state is your responsibility!

[–] [email protected] 17 points 2 days ago

Really makes you think makima-think

[–] [email protected] 27 points 2 days ago

And democrats wonder why constantly triangulating makes them look deceitful

[–] [email protected] 31 points 2 days ago

This monster is less human than a Stepford Wife.

[–] [email protected] 33 points 2 days ago

Biden is a great friend to Palestine by bombing them to oblivion.

Where was this? I find it interesting they are even asking politicians questions about Middle-Eastern Americans right now in the mainstream media. I thought they were just trying to ignore their existence as much as possible while plugging their ears.

This is exactly what people were talking about by threatening their vote, they are now being heard, and are getting harder to ignore.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 2 days ago

"Yes we killed them and we're sad about that, but don't they know they need to vote for us otherwise we'll kill them more, we're been so magnanimous in their brutal murder I don't understand this uppityness"

[–] [email protected] 24 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Khaleesi(tm) says death is sad! But it makes for great entertainment on screens! libbing-out

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Now that you mention it the paralells are obvious, in both cases the writing on the wall was visible long ago, people are burning and libs try hard to forgot that show because their favourite queen turned to be mass murderer.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 days ago (2 children)

There's a double edged sword of edginess there too: the girlboss slaykween was also the only major character with relevant power and agency to even promise to improve society somewhat, and because liberal writing requires status quo enforcement, of course The Swerve happens.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 days ago (5 children)

Yes the first rule of literature in capitalism, even in fiction social improvement is either impossible or depending solely on single or few individuals.

Did Kamala die or what? This sounds like she's saying she was killed for pro-palestinian policies.
