Hey, we haven't been able to find a secure way to poll everyone yet, and I've really been itching to ask everyone this question so we can get updated numbers on our trans population here. This isn't going to be scientific or anything, but just a quick guess.

Please respond to this post with a 'yes', 'no', or 'maybe'. If you have anything to add, please use a spoiler tag below your answer like so:

spoilerhi!

Remember to respond even if you are cis.

spoilerSometimes I doubt myself, but then I remember that when I was at an org meeting a while back and one of my comrades took out her estro tablets, my mouth kinda watered a bit, and then I think about going back to my old name and I'm like actually no I prefer the new one

Maybe? Would have said No a year ago, but I chopped all my hair off last spring and have been wearing less feminine clothes and have been wondering lately if my decades of super-femme presentation was another form of masking.

Idk, this question has come at a time that I'm questioning myself.

spoilerEvery time I look at https://genderdysphoria.fyi/ or w/e I get too spooked and then just try to shove all the thoughts into a dusty corner of my brain. Definitely normal cis behavior, nothing to see here clueless

i would say noI've been thinking about this some recently after doing some reading... and more and more I'm recognizing that the enforced gender binary is bullshit and bad for us, all of us. Like @Infamousblt@hexbear.net I've benefitted from many privileges being a cishet man and think basic male culture is especially bad and would like to distance myself from it when I can. But I don't really feel like I issues with my body. I've wanted to paint my nails and think that kilts should make a comeback. But I never thought of that of anything other than a different sense of style. Given all of that it really feels like I'd be stealing trans valor if I were to go "I'm gonna present like a normie cis dude but declare myself nonbinary for political reasons." I was going to make a post about this at some point so thank you for the opportunity. I accept being a part of the cis-purge if that's the plan lmao

    Either way Care-Comrade

Yes!I began transing my gender almost a decade ago & I think anyone who's interested should give it a try! Maybe do not start by just "going fulltime" in highschool and yelling at anyone who refers to you incorrectly, though, lmao.

I'm hoping for over 50% non-cis responses tbh, I think we can do it. The bear website is beautiful, I just know it.

Edit: I sometimes wonder about the site culture being overwhelmingly transfem, so I am pleased to see many more transmasc commenters here than I expected. hexbear-trans

    Nonbinary gender identities

If you’re trying to get a handle on what it means to be nonbinary, you’re going to have to get comfortable in gray space: There are no specific, hard-and-fast rules about nonbinary identities or β€œwhat it means” to be nonbinary.

    Maybe?

spoilerI look cis and present cis and get all of the privilege of being cis most of the time but I think "man" is meh and I don't like it for myself really because most of the time other men are not anything like who I want to be or see myself as. If all the other men in the world were more like me and less like how they are I'd be totally cool with man. But since they kinda suck and I kinda don't want to suck I don't feel like a man. I don't see much of myself in most other men. Also if someone refers to me as a gender other than man or uses pronouns other than he/him I feel totally fine with it and kinda like it sometimes. Love being counted as one of the theys when all my theys count me as one of them but I don't really feel like a they that often either. So I dunno. I'm still trying to figure it out but have been for years and haven't figured it out yet.

So count that as you will. A weak maybe by some pretty loose definitions of trans but if that's not maybe enough I won't be hurt at all if you're like "oh one of those dudes" and mark me down as cis.

Maybe.I kind of consider myself as not having a gender, but also I don't typically identify with people who typically identify as 'agender' so go figure.

spoiler Also it's really hard to figure out how spoilers work. Something about three colons, then the word spoiler, then newlines? I still don't get it. Include a tutorial :(
