Xenia, the fox girl mascot of Linux, was first designed in 1996 by Alan Mackey. She was meant to be an alternative to Tux, the official mascot.
She had fallen into obscurity, but was noticed by a Twitter user in 2019 and was redrawn as a fox girl. But as it turned out, Xenia was originally meant to be male! The original creator, Alan, was cool with this, saying "It matches the transition of a lot of the smartest, nerdiest Linux users I know" and "And sure, you made her trans!".
So now we have a trans Linux mascot. And I think that's neat.

Due to recent concerns regarding this post by @[email protected], I felt compelled to issue a statement to this community.
There were a few people who responded to this post by acknowledging some degree of validity to Serano's pretty damn explicitly enbyphobic analysis. I just want to start and say that I don't entirely assume bad faith here, as some people often get sucked into holding bad beliefs in good faith with no malicious intent. However, let me just make something totally clear here: Serano's ideas presented in this passage, especially if uncritically given a thumbs up, are very harmful.
As a person who has been harmed very harshly by enbyphobia in the trans community, I see through bullshit. I've seen disingenuous efforts at masking enbyphobic statements as "I'm just concerned about the oppression of binary trans people!" before. These kinds of takes are often thrown around myopically by people who think that there is, within the trans community, some degree of disproportionate hate against binary trans people compared to how enbies are viewed when, in actuality, it's the inverse.
Truscummy rhetoric and non-binary erasure have damaged more enbies than any of this so-called "binary-phobia" has damaged binary trans people. This notion of "binary-phobia" being rife in the community is laughable, as this position is such a niche that you seldom hear about it seriously being exercised and you'd especially never see whole online forums dedicated to it. You, however, cannot say the same thing about transmedicalism. Transmedicalism has pushed many false narratives about non-binary people that aim to be prescriptivist and thereby wholly inaccurate in describing the non-binary experience.
To give a common example, truscum often believe that enbies are inherently non-dysphoric and never undergo any form of medical transition. This is demonstrably false, and the enbies who are dysphoric and/or undergo medical transition are not just some tiny, obscure percentage of the non-binary community. These enbies are far more common than one would think if they go beyond watching bigoted cringe compilations and actually take some time to interact with non-binary people.
However, with that being said, even if a trans person is non-dysphoric, that doesn't make them not a valid trans person, and just to make my point totally clear here: not all non-dysphoric trans people are non-binary, and not all non-binary people are non-dysphoric. Either way, both groups, non-dysphoric trans people and non-binary trans people, whether someone is one, the other, or both, are not invalid in their gender identity. Gender identity is a deeply personal thing, and every single person who is not cis inherently subverts the system that keeps cisheternormative and patriarchal oppression in place. It is about as valid for a binary trans person to be enbyphobic as it is for a cis person to hate trans people in general, but in this case, it is far more hypocritical.
To go back to Serano's concerns, I'm not saying that I've never seen non-binary people give bad takes on binary trans people and gender transition altogether. I have, but these are rare cases that don't make this notion of a major problem with "binary-phobia" any more legitimate of a concern than something as silly as "anti-white racism." I sensed that a lot of users were trying to sniff out good faith in what Serano is saying, but it is nowhere to be found, so you can stop looking. If there were, at the very least, some fair understanding for the current day, she would've done a fair revision of this horrid passage, but she has not.
The bottom line is that gender identity is incredibly personal, and as leftists who absolutely do not want to validate systems of oppression, anyone who is gatekeeping certain kinds of trans people or being bigoted in some other way towards them is going against some of the core, fundamental principles of leftism by validating reactionary, oppressive structures. Whether someone is medically transitioning or not, dysphoric or non-dysphoric, binary or non-binary, gender-conforming or gender-nonconforming, or existing in any way that a trans person can exist whatsoever, and there are a lot of those, they are welcome here, and this is a judgement-free zone for all transgender, non-binary, and genderqueer comrades.
If you have yet to do so, please read The Gender Accelerationist Manifesto by Eme Flores and Vikky Storm, and I have an old effortpost comment that takes down transmedicalism and actually references this work in the process right here.
You are all valid in your gender identities and experiences as trans, non-binary, and genderqueer people, so do NOT fucking tell anyone else here that they aren't, even if you're doing it with the mask on.

DEMOS (Dialogovaya Edinaya Mobilnaya Operatsionnaya Sistema: Russian: Диалоговая Единая Мобильная Операционная Система, ДЕМОС, lit. 'Interactive Unified Portable Operating System') is a Unix-like operating system developed in the Soviet Union. It is derived from Berkeley Software Distribution (BSD) Unix.
It's development was initiated in the Kurchatov Institute of Atomic Energy in Moscow in 1982, and development continued in cooperation from other institutes, and commercialized by DEMOS Co-operative which employed most key contributors to DEMOS and to its earlier alternative, MNOS (a clone of Version 6 Unix). MNOS and DEMOS version 1.x were gradually merged from 1986 until 1990, leaving the joint OS, DEMOS version 2.x, with support for different Cyrillic script character encoding (charsets) (KOI-8 and U-code, used in DEMOS 1 and MNOS, respectively).
Initially it was developed for SM-4 (a PDP-11/40 clone) and SM-1600. Later it was ported to Elektronika-1082, BESM, ES EVM, clones of VAX-11 (SM-1700), and several other platforms, including PC/XT, Elektronika-85 (a clone of DEC Professional), and several Motorola 68020-based microcomputers.
The development of DEMOS effectively ceased in 1991, when the second project of the DEMOS team, RELCOM, took priority.

This guide will go over the basics of how to circumvent reddit's ban system in order to bring more transgender and leftist people to the fediverse (which will be much safer for them). This guide is largely useful for other websites too, though the fediverse is more resilient to these methods due to the manual entry process on most sites.
Things you'll need to download:

ProtonVPN (or a VPN of your choice, Proton is the best free VPN/email, the best paid VPN is probably Mullvad and can be hyper anonymous if you need it). It is suggested that you use a separate Proton account for your VPN than for your anonymous email. If you're super paranoid and breaking a lot of laws, you can have your TOR connection end with a VPN in order to mask your TOR traffic to reddit, but that is outside the scope of this guide.
What to think on to be effective:

A target. Certain subreddits and communities may house more leftists and trans people.

Contradictions. What are differences between the base of the community and the moderators? What are differences between the base of the community and the content on reddit?
What not to do:

Do not change the base configuration of any of the browsers (besides a fully local editor such as Dark Reader), they're perfect as they are 💖

Do not ever turn off the VPN while conducting activities.

Do not ever access your Proton anonymous email without TOR Browser.
Steps:

You need an anonymous Proton mail account.

Open up Tor Browser.
-
Go to YOPmail. This is a temporary email site with new domains every day. Proton is vigilant about these services, so you may need to try different domains for your temp mail, such as in this table.

Go to proton.me in Tor Browser and sign up using the temp mail. If they block you, try a different domain until it sends an email to the temp mail.

Now that you have a Proton account, go to Proton Pass. As always, only access the Proton account with Tor Browser. Create a new email alias, you will be using aliases for any new reddit account you make.
- Caveat: Proton may ask for further verification by detecting that you used a temp mail after signup. Go to emailnator.com in TOR and get a temporary gmail address to use for receiving verification, then turn off the recovery option.
- Open up Mullvad Browser and be sure your VPN is turned on. You can check if your IP is leaking on sites like ipleak.net.
- Q: Why Mullvad Browser? Its base configuration is good, and if you use private browsing, reddit will be incapable of building a fingerprint on you, which is the second way it can ban people via tracking. Be sure to save passwords in KeepassXC or a password manager of your choice. Reddit also blocks sign-ins from TOR Browser (due to its superior anonymity), but do not block VPNs, and Mullvad Browser is best used with VPNs.

Make a reddit account with your proton email alias. This should be fairly straightforward, sometimes reddit will ask for a lot of captchas. Do them, it'll work eventually. Go to your main proton inbox (in TOR browser) and handle the verification email.

Done! You are now ready to agitate for a leftist cause. Reddit communities and reddit itself often have a ban on participation until you reach a certain karma level or account age. The easiest way to bypass this is to go to a meme subreddit, find an old meme, and (lmao) repost it. You'll get thousands of upvotes immediately and easily bypass the spam filter. You can also make accounts in bulk in order to accrue time.
With good knowledge of macros, its even possible to set it up so that you can make accounts with one press of a button.
