Image is of destruction and damage inside Israel, sourced from this article.

Iran and Israel have struck each other many times over the last few days. There has been a general focus on military facilities and headquarters by both sides, though Israel has also struck oil facilities, civilian structures and hospitals, and in return for this, Iran has struck major scientific centers and the Haifa oil facilities.

Israel appears to have three main aims. First, to collapse the Iranian state, either through shock and breakdown by killing enough senior officials, or via some sort of internal military coup. Second, to try and destroy Iranian nuclear sites and underground missile cities, or at least to paralyze them long enough to achieve the first and third goals. And third, to bring the US into a direct conflict with Iran. This is because the US better equipped to fight them than Israel is (though victory would still not be guaranteed depending on what Iran chooses to do).

Iranian nuclear facilities are hidden deep underground (800 meters), far beyond the depth range of even the most powerful bunker busters (~70 meters or so), and built such that the visible ground entrances are horizontally far away in an unknown direction from the actual underground chambers. Only an extremely competent full-scale American bombing force all simultaneously using multiple of the most powerful conventional (perhaps even nuclear) bunker busters could even hypothetically hope to breach them (and we have seen how, in practice, American bunker busters have largely failed to impair or deter Ansarallah). There are several analysts on both sides who have concluded that it is entirely impossible to physically prevent Iran from building nukes.

I fully expect the US to join the war. I believe the current ambiguity is a deliberate invention of the US while they work to move their military assets into position, and as soon as they are ready, the US will start bombing Iran. After that, Iran's leadership must - if they haven't already - harden their hearts, and strike back with no fear, or risk following the path of Libya, Syria, and Iraq, either into either surrender, occupation, or annihilation. Every day where they do not possess a nuke is a day where lives are being lost and cities are being bombed.

Russia at the UN Security Council: Israel is still not a member of the NPT, so full IAEA inspections of Israel are not carried out. Iran is the only country that has accepted the most inspections, but instead of thanking this country, we bomb it, and its civilians are targeted. Unfortunately, the director general of the IAEA has never called for Israel to join the NPT; this situation is fraudulent.

Trump says he wants regime change. But how? He can't send in troops, bombs alone probably aren't enough, and a color revolution seems unlikely.

It's clear they really want this. Destroying Iran is critical for the US. They've been mobilizing for months. They've been whittling away Iran's regional allies for years.

What is the plan here?

[-] [email protected] 77 points 6 days ago

There is no plan, they've miscalculated because of the overconfidence the fall of Syria lent them, they took out the weakest link (which took 15 years of sustained warfare to break) and now they've convinced themselves the strongest link is identical to the weakest, utter derangement

I'm sorry but nobody is gonna convince me the Gaza-like scenes out of Tel Aviv and Haifa is what Bibi and Trump had in mind when they started this boondoggle, the dumb fucks literally thought a few bombs and assassinations were all that's needed to trigger a popular uprising that topples the Iranian government THE FUCKIN REFORMISTS ARE IN POWER LMAO the regime change took place in 1997

Smartest thing Iran can do is to keep hammering Israel for as all long as missile stockpiles allow

The best thing about not having materialism is that you can just want things. They don’t have to be realistic or achievable or even internally consistent. Somewhere at the Pentagon there’s a vision board with “Iran regime change” on it, along with “China economy collapses” and “Russia quits and gives back Crimea.”

They accomplished regime change in Syria with barely any direct American or Israeli involvement outside of airstrikes. All they need is a faction to let them in the door and be their ground forces and they can split it open. We haven't seen any major factions pop up within Iran to oppose the government, only lone disgruntled collaborators.

[-] [email protected] 52 points 6 days ago

Syria had been fighting a "civil war" for over 10 years though and the government was severely degraded. That is not the case for Iran. They're skipping all the work they put in to Syria and going straight to regime change.

Venezuelans March to Show Unwavering Solidarity With the Iranian and Palestinian Peoples - Venezuela Analysis

Article

Iranian Ambassador Ali Chegini praised Venezuela for being on the right side of history in backing his country against Israel.

Mexico City, Mexico, June 20, 2025 (venezuelanalysis.com) – Thousands of Venezuelans marched Thursday in Caracas to express solidarity with Iran and Palestine, calling for peace amid Israel’s escalating actions.

Carrying Iranian flags and images of the Supreme Leader Ali Hosseini Khamenei, demonstrators denounced Israel’s unprovoked attacks on Iran, defending the latter’s right to respond in a firm show of popular support for one of Venezuela’s closest allies.

Venezuelan Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello, speaking to the crowd, framed the protest as both a show of unwavering solidarity with the Iranian and Palestinian peoples and as a rebuke to international silence, especially by the United Nations.

“Iran is the vanguard of the free peoples of the world and we support them to expose that Israel is nothing more than another paper tiger created by the United States,” Cabello said at the demonstration.

The high-ranking Chavista marched alongside National Assembly President Jorge Rodríguez and Iranian Ambassador to Venezuela Ali Chegini, who also addressed the crowd.

“Today we are paying the price for standing with a free Palestine, and we will continue our struggle in defense of our people and territory,” said Chegini, who cast Venezuela as firmly on the right side of history for backing Iran in the widening conflict.

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has likewise strongly come out in support of Iran’s retaliation against Israel’s offensive that began on June 13.

“Israel was stunned by the military prowess of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which has defended itself in accordance with international law and in legitimate self-defense,” said Maduro Thursday during a televised event.

Venezuela and Iran enjoy an extraordinarily close diplomatic, political and economic alliance, with deep cooperation in various fields, including art and culture, and a critical partnership in the energy sector. The two nations have fostered their ties in recent years to overcome US economic sanctions.

Caracas was among the first to condemn Israeli strikes against Iran. Maduro last visited Iran in 2022, where he signed a 20-year cooperation agreement together with former Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, who perished in a crash in 2024.

After detailing Israel’s recent aggressions throughout the region—including the genocide in Gaza, its attacks on Lebanon that resulted in the death of Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah, and its role in regime change efforts in Syria that ousted Venezuelan ally President Bashar al-Assad—the president denounced Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s strategy.

“Israel wants full control over the Middle East’s resources, in partnership with US imperialism,” said Maduro.

Opposition leader María Corina Machado has tried to use Venezuela’s close relationship with Iran as justification for US intervention, depicting the country as the most serious “security threat” in the region.

“Venezuela is a real threat to the hemisphere and the United States. It is the only country in the hemisphere, besides the US, with the capacity to build combat drones of Iranian origin,” said Machado on Wednesday.

The far-right politician, who is calling for a boycott of upcoming municipal elections, suggested Iranian drones could fly from Venezuela to attack US territory directly, in Florida. Machado’s statements were met with swift condemnation, with social media users pointing out that other nations in South America have drone technology and that her statements are blatant calls for further US aggression against the country.

The relationship between Caracas and Tehran blossomed under the leadership of former Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez, who sought to strengthen ties with other OPEC countries but fostered an especially close relationship with Iran over their shared opposition to US hegemony worldwide.

Yedioth Ahronoth, citing Israeli officials, says that Israel will 'immediately accept' a ceasefire if Iran proposes it.

Right on schedule, the Israelis are now saying they'll accept a ceasefire with Iran if Iran agrees. These strikes were merely the off ramp to allow Israel to exit a disastrous miscalculation. We'll see if Iran gives them the out, or decides to commit and punish the Israelis and Americans while they have they reeling.

Given the mood of the Iranian people, even if the government wanted a ceasefire I don't think they can. The time for talk is long past. Israel finally bit off something they can't chew up.

Trump now suggests regime change in Iran - Prensa Latina

Article

Washington, Jun 22 (Prensa Latina) A day after the US bombing of Iran's nuclear facilities, President Donald Trump today suggested the so-called “regime change” in the Islamic Republic.

As usual, Trump referred to the issue on his soapbox: Truth Social, where he wrote that “it is not politically correct to use the term ‘regime change’, but if the current Iranian regime cannot MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN, why wouldn't there be a regime change?”.

The Republican president, who yesterday called the attack a “spectacular military success”, concluded his message using the acronym MIGA, in reference to ‘Make Iran Great Again’, a play on words similar to his campaign slogan ‘Make America Great Again’.

As President 47 stated on the platform itself, the damage to Iranian nuclear facilities following Saturday's aerial onslaught is “monumental.”

Trump stressed that "the hits were forceful and precise. Our Army showed great skill - thank you!".

Once again, the current occupant of the Oval Office contradicts members of his government team. Prior to the air raid, he assured that Iran was “a few weeks away” from obtaining a nuclear weapon, contrary to the assessments of his Director of Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, when she testified in March before the US Congress.

However, Trump dismissed those findings by U.S. spy agencies and noted to reporters, “I don't care what she said.” “She's wrong,” he stressed.

Just this Sunday the Trump administration, which does not consider itself at war with Iran, sent some of its representatives to explain and justify the attack perpetrated the day before.

The Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, expressed in a press conference that the operation was never intended to seek a “regime change” in Iran, but to dismantle its nuclear program.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Fox News, Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the United States was not planning new military operations and that he was inviting direct negotiations with Iran.

Meanwhile, Vice President JD Vance told NBC News that "the president, more than anyone else, is concerned about protracted military conflicts. That's not what we're getting into (...) What we're getting into is a very directed effort to eliminate the Iranian nuclear program, which will continue to be the goal of U.S. foreign policy," he concluded.

According to the number two in the executive mansion, “it is that objective that will motivate our action in the weeks and months to come.”

Iranian President Masud Pezeshkian warned on Sunday that the attack ordered by Trump on nuclear facilities in his country proves that the United States is the main architect of the hostile actions of the Zionist regime of Israel against the Islamic Republic.

Iran's Foreign Minister is in Moscow today. It seems kind of ridiculous, but what if Iran joins the Union State and hosts Russian nukes? Per Dmitry Medvedev's implication.

"If someone is worried ... (then) it is very simple: join in the Union State of Belarus and Russia. That's all: there will be nuclear weapons for everyone."

Obviously the big question mark is what this would mean for the war in Ukraine.

⚫️ The Islamic Jihad Movement spokesperson, Mohammed Al-Haj Musa: —

And when the Islamic Republic responded—striking back—the sirens wailed in occupied Palestine, in the skies over the usurped land. I tell you, those sirens also wailed in the hearts of all Palestinians, for this Iranian response was a response on our behalf. These Iranian strikes were for us, on our path.

This people of Gaza, who have endured a brutal war, a continuing genocide, and starvation—living now in tents or beneath the rubble—have found someone who stands by them and defends them in the fullest sense of the word.

We affirm that what has taken place in various arenas of support—and is now manifesting in the Islamic Republic of Iran—has its central cause in Palestine, and is for the sake of Palestine.

The Islamic Republic is not being attacked or confronted today because it “intervenes,” as some claim. No—it’s because it says “No” It refuses to yield. It refuses to abandon the Palestinian people amid a global alignment supporting the zionist occupation and its genocidal war.

This, then, is a war for Gaza. A war for Palestine. Since the dawn of the Revolution in 1979, the slogans of Imam Khomeini and all the leaders who gave what they could—including the signature of the martyr Qassem Soleimani on every launcher and missile that reached the expanse of Palestine’s geography—affirm that the jihad of the Republic is a support for the Palestinian people.

So let it be clear: this is not some emotional bias. The Palestinian people today are making their choices. Despite all the harsh conditions, we still believe—and will continue to believe—that the rifle is the only legitimate solution, and that resistance in all its forms is our unifying path.

We reject and denounce all forms of sectarian or doctrinal division.

We are now at a true crossroads: Either you are with the nation of Muhammad ibn Abdullah—the nation that resists occupation, oppression, and humiliation—or you stand in the camp of those who seek Al-Quds as “Yerushalayim,” defending and supporting the occupation.

The matter is now crystal clear. There is no gray area. This is the certainty of the Palestinian people.

The Palestinian joy today is not like any other joy. Who rejoices? The hungry. The wounded. The oppressed. The grieving. The burned—in heart and soul. The one whose home has been destroyed. Whose family has been killed. Who suffers and suffers again.

He stands and smiles in these moments, for he sees hope in a nation-a nation now embodied by the Islamic Republic—a true nation amid Arab abandonment.

A nation that says “no” to the occupier in the harshest of circumstances.

The Islamic Republic does not possess what the United States does. This is what everyone must understand.

The Islamic Republic does not fight from behind a shield that protects its leaders and people. Its resources are limited, but it has prepared its people spiritually and psychologically for forty years to belong to this nation.

It has prepared its people to become the strategic weapon of the Islamic Republic: this certainty in the hearts of Iranians that they belong to the Islamic Ummah, and that they are duty-bound to support the cause with their blood and lives—to sacrifice everything they can.

Therefore, it is only natural for us as Palestinians to say that this blood is our blood, that this cause is our cause. Any strike on Tehran is, to us, a strike on Gaza, on Al-Quds, on Palestinian Akka.

We rejoice—we are filled with joy—when these missiles and shells strike at the heart of the entity. We feel that our occupied, sacred land—this land of the prophets—resonates with these flames, turning into fire upon the occupier, scorching him in anger and vengeance for all the sacrifices made by the Palestinian people, and in response to the continuing crimes of the enemy.

Looks like while clearing a corridor for the B-2 Spirit stealth bombers to bomb Natanz and Isfahan, the US EA-18G Growlers and F-35s opened up some more corridors into Iranian airspace, the US states that they fired 31 anti radiation munitions, targeting air defence radars. Israel has made use of these corridors to bomb missile facilities in Yazd, next to some tunnel entrances, with Israeli jets flying over 2200km via Iraq and Syria. The longest range strike into Iran yet. Yazd is 1850km from Tel Aviv as the crow flies. Israel posted footage of the strikes, likely from the EOTS of their F-35 fighter aircraft.

F-35 EOTS example footage

This is part of why I think it's not over, in just one night using the EA-18Gs (which Israel don't have), the US opened corridors into the heart of Iran, which Israel immediately used. Israel will be desperate for more of this, while they have F-35s, they do not have the EA-18G and it's capabilities.
