Image is of destruction and damage inside Israel, sourced from this article.

Iran and Israel have struck each other many times over the last few days. There has been a general focus on military facilities and headquarters by both sides, though Israel has also struck oil facilities, civilian structures and hospitals, and in return for this, Iran has struck major scientific centers and the Haifa oil facilities.

Israel appears to have three main aims. First, to collapse the Iranian state, either through shock and breakdown by killing enough senior officials, or via some sort of internal military coup. Second, to try and destroy Iranian nuclear sites and underground missile cities, or at least to paralyze them long enough to achieve the first and third goals. And third, to bring the US into a direct conflict with Iran. This is because the US better equipped to fight them than Israel is (though victory would still not be guaranteed depending on what Iran chooses to do).

Iranian nuclear facilities are hidden deep underground (800 meters), far beyond the depth range of even the most powerful bunker busters (~70 meters or so), and built such that the visible ground entrances are horizontally far away in an unknown direction from the actual underground chambers. Only an extremely competent full-scale American bombing force all simultaneously using multiple of the most powerful conventional (perhaps even nuclear) bunker busters could even hypothetically hope to breach them (and we have seen how, in practice, American bunker busters have largely failed to impair or deter Ansarallah). There are several analysts on both sides who have concluded that it is entirely impossible to physically prevent Iran from building nukes.

I fully expect the US to join the war. I believe the current ambiguity is a deliberate invention of the US while they work to move their military assets into position, and as soon as they are ready, the US will start bombing Iran. After that, Iran's leadership must - if they haven't already - harden their hearts, and strike back with no fear, or risk following the path of Libya, Syria, and Iraq, either into either surrender, occupation, or annihilation. Every day where they do not possess a nuke is a day where lives are being lost and cities are being bombed.

Israel-Palestine Conflict

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
Simplicius, who publishes on Substack. Like others, his political analysis should be soundly ignored, but his knowledge of weaponry and military strategy is generally quite good.

Israeli media reporting what everyone knew. Unclear what this means about morale of the media class there.

Should be noted that the US confirmed this position less than 3 months ago

Do people really think this could lead to regime change? From what it seems many inside don't like the Iranian regime but don't think Israel has the answer and may make it worse while those living out seem to support Israel? Whats the general sentiment?

[-] [email protected] 10 points 12 minutes ago

The majority of the people I've seen suggest this just think that Muslims are a monolith and because Syria collapsed 'easily' they expect Iran to do the same.

[-] [email protected] 7 points 10 minutes ago

They're also just ignorant of recent history and somehow forgot that regime change in Syria took over ten years.

CNN

Mazandaran is north of Tehran.

As Israel’s attack on Iran is in its fifth day, many are fleeing the Iranian capital of Tehran and seeking refuge in the Caspian Sea province of Mazandaran. One evacuee told CNN it took more than 14 hours to reach Shomal, a popular holiday destination in the north that would normally be just a three-hour journey. “Everyone left Tehran, basically everyone I know has left the city,” the person said. “People in Shomal have opened their doors to people from Tehran, taking people in.”

“They bombed my house, my street yesterday,” the person added. “All the windows have turned to powder, the lobby of the building is gone.” With an influx of displaced residents, Mazandaran’s governor said bakeries will begin operating 24 hours a day starting tomorrow. “Our goal is for the people to be able to easily and without worry get fresh, warm bread at any time of the day or night when they need it,” the governor said, according to the semi-official Mehr News Agency.

He added that the province has the capacity to receive 10 million people fleeing from Tehran and other areas. US President Donald Trump warned Iranians to “immediately evacuate” Tehran in a social media post yesterday.

There's a plume of smoke coming from south of Cinema City Glilot (Fartreal using human shields exhibit a million), with videos taken from Glil Yam and the recorder even mentioning piSSad - if you do a search along the lines of "mossad headquarters hit", there will be various articles and videos

(I don't know what piSSad is. Idc about English but I feel so embarrassed and ashamed for not having good enough Maoist English to know piSSad. I am sorry comrades)

Right wing portuguese gov is introducing a law so workers, or "colaborators" as they call them, can "buy" vacation days by getting their salaries deducted. Is this a thing anywhere else?

[-] [email protected] 20 points 1 hour ago

Yeah it's called "purchase leave" in a Australia, it's not super common yet, but it's like a payday loan for paid holiday leave. You take time off paid but make up for it later by salary deduction over a period of time.

[-] [email protected] 2 points 19 minutes ago* (last edited 18 minutes ago)

Definitely in the Netherlands. It's called something like "individual choice model". It also works the other way around: You can reduce your holiday to get some more salary, or other kind of benefits (this depends on the employer I think). I know some let you use it to buy a bike if you promise to use the bike to go to work (the point being that if it's not direct income it doesn't get taxed).

[-] [email protected] 2 points 19 minutes ago* (last edited 17 minutes ago)

Yeah we have something like this as well in finland. Usually you get 2 or 2,5 days PTO per month worked (2 for the first year of employment, then 2,5 for every subsequent year = 24 to 30 days PTO per year). Then you also get vacation pay, which is a bonus that is usually equal to 50% of your average monthly salary. The extra vacation pay can then be "traded in" for another 5 or 6 PTO days. So it's not exactly a pay reduction, more like a bonus that can be cashed out either in money or time off, or some combination of both. It varies depending on collective agreement, afaik not every sector's collective agreement has that trading thing.

Fun fact: Vacation pay, or lomaraha (lit. vacation money), used to be called lomaltapaluuraha (return-from-vacation-money), and you would only get it if you returned to the same workplace after your vacation. The purpose was to entice workers to come back to their old workplace after their vacation, instead of just taking the time to look for a new job and fuck off somewhere else. I guess that used to be a problem?

[-] [email protected] 13 points 1 hour ago

Yes - however check the extent to which your other entitlements are reduced.

My employer lets you continue to get full entitlements (PTO, counts toward employment length) even if you've purchased vacation days.

[-] [email protected] 11 points 2 hours ago

Yup. In the UK, I get 24 days PTO but twice a year I can buy or sell days based on my salaried daily rate to bring that as high as 28 or as low as 20.

People dont seem to mind it. I work a 9-5 weekday job that's bound by public holidays, so I get a lot more structure with time off than a service worker whose shifts may change from one week or the next.

Sometimes my partner will take out holiday days for weekends or bank holidays, for example, so by the end of the year I usually end up with more PTO days than her and end up selling them for extra cash after Christmas.

Apperently this way the Big Strike was Stopped Yesterday , i dont approve on stopping big strike , fells like another true Promise broken kitty-birthday-sad

Iran should agree to not do enrichment.

Then do enrichment anyway.

Fuck em. Play their game, fuck em over, once you have nukes you're safe.

[-] [email protected] 22 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

I agree if they can get their opsec together. If the Mossad so much as whispers a suggestion that Iran is doing just that, this shit will happen all over again. Maybe by then Iran could procure some better defences.

[-] [email protected] 32 points 2 hours ago

Mossad are going to whisper that one way or another. Better to actually be doing it than not.

[-] [email protected] 10 points 1 hour ago

I also think Israel getting hit harder than it has in decades may make them think twice about doing the exact same playbook we've seen before.

[-] [email protected] 22 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

was it stopped or is there just not a lot of footage of it due to military censorship? earlier people were talking about nearly a thousand drones and a lot of cruise missiles

[-] [email protected] 15 points 2 hours ago

Iraq and Syria would have lots of footage even if impacts in Israel were hidden

[-] [email protected] 14 points 2 hours ago

there was no footage from Westbank Iraq , Syria of them flighn overhead as well.
