ya we've been living here a year and a half and I haven't met the guy, but i look over today and finally notice (i don't go outside ok) his lovely flags

What gets me is we're on a dead end, who is this for?? all the traffic that there isn't?

I'm going to head-canon it as he's a comrade and it's camouflage to look like an asshole in assholland and just never talk to him and break the illusion

No wonder he makes his beautiful insanely friendly incredibly gorgeous cat who i love live outside on the street

P.s. it's the dont tread on me flag and the AR Come And Take it one

Unintentional political compass?

ok we've got the gadsden snake, the Sabot cat, your typical right-libertarian, but what is the pufferfish a symbol of? anarcho-posadist direct action?

OpenBSD, of course.

I remember an old sexist meme floating around comparing women with dyed hair to poisonous frogs, well I posit that flags like these are the bands of a venomous snake, why not, flip the table on misogyny

If they mean it's an effective mechanism to ward off predators, they are 100% right

tbh all it's doing is making me consider taking the "come and take it" flag literally re: his outdoor cat, who I very much would love to bring inside and love forever

in a way i love memes like that bc my partner is a blue haired they them and all these nerds did was help me find someone who loves me way more than I deserve. good job, losers!

There are at least five houses within five minutes if me that look identical to this

oh there's tons around here it's just this is directly across the street from me, we're as neighbor as neighbors get (without talking to each other). It's a little dead end with like 5 occupied houses and of the neighbors I've met like, 3. One's a lady who I think works for a church (ew) but seems nice, one's a couple who unfortunately I think have frequent domestic abuse because they've called the cops on each other like 3-4 times in a year (but they seem very nice though), and then there's a thumb lookin' guy who came to command me to drive slower, because there's children present (i have never at any point, ever, gone above 20mph, and have never driven down this street without taking extreme caution to look out. I don't care about this dude's kids but there are neighborhood cats whose lives are at stake thurston ). And then there's this guy with the flags

part of me wants to go over with my partner and do like a bit like "Oh hey there neighbor, well, we saw your lovely flag right next to your amazing garden, and, well. We can just come and take what we want? How lovely and kind of you!" and just pretend to be jackasses utterly oblivious to the tone and context of his bullshit

I love the mixed messages between the two flags.

Just yesterday, I was driving around 30 miles from the US border with Canada and saw a double license plate on a Subaru. One was the standard Vermont plate, and the other was the Confederate battle flag. These people are a special kind of dumb.

I was driving home from work a few months ago and had a OH SHIT IS THAT A COP moment because I'd been pulled over recently and thought i saw a permanent state license plate on a truck (so like, cop, why else have that) but no it was just some wanker with a gadsden flag license plate

I think she's generally happy though, the lady who lives next to us helps take care of her i think. She's a sweet petitie, if I get her attention she'll perk up, meow, and run at a fast little trot towards me meowing the whole time (avoiding the grass so she'll run down the driveway and then down the street lol)

[-] NephewAlphaBravo@hexbear.net 7 points 4 days ago

it's so good when they meow while they're running so it goes "meoWwoOwOWwOw"

Haha yea my fat one does that when running for food. This baby though just does sweet little chirps and i think it's really cute how she doesn't wanna run in the grass so she'll take the long way to see me

I cropped it in realllll close, so i'm not doxxing myself 👌

I respect your approach to head-canon annoying people in real life, then ignore them forever. I should copy that. As long as I don't actually believe it, it might help. Actually, now that I think about it, isn't that basically reframing from cognitive behavioral therapy? It's not denial, if you say he might be instead of he actually is. Of course it's unlike he's actually a good person, but the possibility is not zero and there's no reason to get worked up about it as long as you don't have to interact. At the same time he's very probably dangerous to interact with, so it's smart not to anyway. It's not your job to find out if there's good inside.

Yeah i don't usually do that because i'm an asshole but i was thinking of "why even have these flags if literally nobody is ever gonna see them" and the comrade camouflage explanation came into my head. Probably not the truth though

But yea i guess it's the opposite of ruminating over what everyone thinks of you and thinking bad thoughts that aren't true, choosing to think good things that aren't true instead

[-] woodenghost@hexbear.net 1 points 3 days ago

Yeah, exactly. I was just in a very annoying situation with loud people in an overfull full train and thought of trying this. I think it might have helped more, had I been able to focus at all.

Look for one with a rainbow rifle and machete, that's me.

respect for your bravery, i talk like tough dude ready to rumble but i still wouldn't want my political affiliations easily discerned from outside of where i live

I don't respect my neighbor for that because his opinions also suck (if the flags are an accurate reflection and NOT chud camouflage)

[-] pr06lefs@lemmy.ml 1 points 4 days ago

maybe you need glasses? or maybe I do

Im like way across the street in my yard and didn't want to take a long perfect shot of my neighbor if he might see me dioing it

I said in the post but it's the gadsden don't tread on me snake and the "come and take it" with an AR
