They say that a bunch of passenger jets are just alien ships in disguise

Why the aliens would disguise the ship and not themselves is a question they don't ask

that's fucking awesome. it makes way more sense that a technologically advanced alien species would mimic our aircraft technology rather than fly around in little flying saucers or whatever

so does this guy just look at every plane with his binoculars until he eventually finds one with an alien pilot?

if aliens can physically transport their living bodies between stars they can almost certainly make themselves imperceptible to us. bending light waves or jamming our monkey neurons from noticing them seems easy compared to FTL space travel, heck for all we know there is one or more species of insect or animal native to earth that exploits human psychology to be imperceptible
