I will never be able to listen to Stealers Wheel and not think of him. The two are forever intertwined in my head.

RIP in piece.

You've show the liberals you're against their class interests multiple times. You let slip with some nasty shit and signal to the racists what's you are all about, and then walk THAT back.

Can't be consistently lib. Can't be consistently racist. Absolutely spineless all around.

well fuck guess I'm a capitalist now.

[-] [email protected] 12 points 1 day ago

I do.

When it's 90f and 90% relative humidity at 8am hot coffee is punishment. i can knock out three cold brews and get my caffeine buzz without overheating internally.

Also, my stomach is a big baby and traditionally brewed coffee is too acidic for my stomach to handle. Cold brew is less acidic. Even if I heat up a cup it's still lower acid because it was cold brewed.

Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1934-35 by unit 886. Part of the New Deal, the men and women who made this worked over 40 hours a week, and took home $30 a month. Most of them apparently sent it back home as this was all on the tail end of the Great Depression.

It's pretty neat. The place is built from 'caliche-crete', which was a blend of concrete and the local caliche stone.

Pretty interesting, thinking about the people who built this, looking at the individual blocks and thinking about the toil in the hot Texas sun to build this place.

Out at a place built by the Civilian Conservation Corps back in 1935/36. Found this while walking around. I think this was used for surveying changes to the land around where I am, as this area was dammed in the 1930s.

I've been searching for something specific to these but I think due to their age it might be lost to time.

shit sucks. I've kicked H, oxys, a multiple hundred dollar a day cocaine habit, another H habit, the couple years I thought I could just grow poppies and drink tea instead, and kratom. But not oxymetazoline. My nostrils, they call for it. My sinuses, they yearn for it. FML.

Hey my once daily inhaler I use every day of the week was only $326.60 this month. Neato.

Three hundred and twenty six dollars every fucking month. And sixty fucking cents. WITH INSURANCE. It's six hundred fucking dollars without insurance!

Healthcare is a fuck.

I'm subbed to the periscope films YT channel. I'm fascinated with the channel. There's a wealth of seriously interesting stuff on there. Educational films about how limited slip differentials work, how copper is mined, how asphalt roads work, and even stuff like this short film about the wonder mineral asbestos.

I am absolutely floored by how many things used to have asbestos in them. I mean I knew, but good grief to have even a non exhaustive list of all the things we used to put that shit in is mind bottling.

It's no goddamned wonder people lied about it as long as they did, the profits made off the things that were killing people one breath at a time must have been astronomical. Between the asbestos and the tetraethyl lead, it's amazing the boomers made it as far as they did.

Rubber Paychecks! (hexbear.net)

My paycheck did not deposit. My employer has asked for an additional week to pay me for this week in addition to next weeks wages. He also informed me he will pay me an additional weeks pay if I will stay on. My first phone calls were to the other plumbers at the shop. They didn't get paid either. They intend to sit it out and see what happens. This is their first time dealing with a negligent employer. I know better. The owner of the shop showed up to work this past Monday with another quad cab GMC Sierra Denali, a 90k truck.

My next two phone calls were to the general contractors I am to meet this morning to go over change orders and arrange heavy equipment for excavating, and inform them I am no longer in my current job and they will need to call the (former) office to get it sorted. I do not replace pipes that transfer shit and other human waste for funsies.

Looks like it's a three day weekend instead. Time to get my posting numbers up. Monday I'll be calling other plumbers to see if there's a spot available elsewhere.

I always love reading about friendships that cross party lines, like Michelle and Dubya or Joe Biden and John McCain. It's a reminder that most people aren't complete partisans

Good ol' G Dub, just a big old lovable goof.

I made a mistake browsed Reddit dot com. I regret my actions.

Anyone else listen to Swindled? It's a pretty good podcast. This showed up in my podcast app one day about a year ago. I've listened to most of the free back catalog at this point.

The format is pretty interesting, they're usually two parts; the first part is maybe 1/3 the allotted time and the second part makes up the other 2/3 but the first part is always related to the second.

This one is about Lawn Chair Larry & the Balloon Boy. Lawn Chair Larry is a guy who inflated and attached a bunch of surplus military balloons to a lawn chair he got from Sears & Roebuck and ended up becoming airborne. The second part is about the Balloon Boy hoax in 2009.

Six bucks. Watermelon was picked Wednesday, limes were picked Thursday.

Going back for avocados and sweet/white onions tomorrow when they swap produce. You can pry the avocado toast from my soft dead millennial hands.
