Also anyone else that isn't a ameri-burger-ican can chip in too.

You, beloved reader, observe the image above for a second, paying specific attention to the bready-squishy bits known as the "bums", I'm sorry I mean "Buns" - no that's wasn't a slip-up I did that on purpose!

ahem

So back to the main topic, I trust by now you've looked at the above image and noted that the bready-squichy bits are labeled as "the crown" for the more rounded and breadier half thats just absolutely caked with seeds whereas the half of the bun that's less flat than me is called the "heel"...for some reason.

With these two important bits of knowledge firmly embedded in the forbidden yogurt that is your brain, I wish to pose upon you a very important and intimate question...

DO YOU, AMERICAN - OR SOME OTHER NATIONALITY THAT HAS THE MISFORTUNE TO BE ABLE TO PURCHASE THEM - EAT YOUR HAMBURGERS WITH THE CROWN TOWARDS THE GROUND OR WITH THE HEELS OF THE BURGER RESTING ON YOUR THUMBS?

TRANSLATION: DO YOU EAT WITH HEEL UP OR CROWN DOWN?

Also feel free to share any nice burger recipes or cooking tips, it's summer after all. The time to grill grillman

Heel to the ground, patriot found; heel to the sky, Russian spy.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 4 months ago

Thumb and pinky finger on the heel, my other fingers on the crown

Complete and total control of the bun

What kind of sick fuck is flipping a burger 180° before biting into it?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (1 children)

Sometimes the bun heel doesn't have pleasant proportions or have the structural integrity to support the rest of the burger. In such cases, you either flip it over or risk the tomato slices and gerkins falling out the side and getting mustard on your shirt.

Edge case, the exception that proves the rule

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 months ago

shrug-outta-hecks it's a propa reason

Now if there's someone who flips it from the jump because they prefer it upside down gulag gulag gulag

[–] [email protected] 13 points 4 months ago

Nobody uses those terms, it’s just top bun bottom bun.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 4 months ago (1 children)

is that image just fucking weird or did I have a stroke

[–] [email protected] 6 points 4 months ago

It’s a poorly made burger, it’s not just you

[–] [email protected] 13 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Crown goes on top, also, veggies go on TOP of patty. stop making your burgers upside down

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 months ago

I would say that onion under the party is totally valid, it allows for crunch on both sides if you have pickles on top which creates a satisfying mouth feel.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 4 months ago

Set down that crown on the ground

I have never seen anybody eat them heel up. However I will say, last time I ate borglar, if the lettuce ends up under the patty I will eat the bastard with the heel up. Lettuce on top >>>>>>>>> bun orientation

TRANSLATION: DO YOU EAT WITH HEEL UP OR CROWN DOWN?

No

[–] [email protected] 10 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

I eat da burbur kobeni-dance

[–] [email protected] 10 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Why the fuck would I hold a hamburger upside down.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

I have never seen anyone flip a burger upside down unless something fucks happened like the main concentration of sauce being put on the bottom bun by a shitty burger assembler (suave goes onto sl it drops down onto the rest) also the burger graphic is poorly made, you don’t put all that stuff on the same burger. Two sauce max, and it’s lacking peppers which indicates a childlike taste.

Btw check the bold y’all, the main purpose of this post is to trick y’all into posting on main without using main

[–] [email protected] 9 points 4 months ago

Anyone holding their burger upside down is a supervillain at best. Do not trust.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 4 months ago

Wait fuck wait can I give my answer again? I started eating my burgers with the crown up but decided to eat them upside dow. I guess you could call it a

spoiler

heel turn

[–] [email protected] 8 points 4 months ago

I don’t think I’ve ever flipped a burger to eat it in my life but I definitely will now

If it's a thin, fast-food style burger, I usually eat it crown down.

If it's a thicker restaurant or home-make burger, I usually eat it heel up.

I have no idea why I do it this way, but this is my main pattern.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 4 months ago

I have read the comments and have eaten with other people, so I know I'm a weirdo, but I think the crown has more structure, so it makes a better foundation. I use it for the bottom. I will often put the pickles down there too, because the pickles and onions and tomatoes all push each other around (and off the sandwich) if they're in the same area.

I didn't expect to be the only person in these comments who does this 😔

[–] [email protected] 6 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Usually crown up but then for whatever reason I end up taking bigger bites out of the heel bread relative to the crown bread and it becomes top heavy, so I have to flip it and eat the rest heel up/crown down

[–] [email protected] 6 points 4 months ago

My best friend as a teen ate burgers by eating the meat and cheese with his bare hands, then eating the bun with ketchup(no other toppings because he and his whole family didn't eat any vegetables). He ate pizza the same way.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (2 children)

Aren't those things supposed to have ketchup? (I don't know how anyone is supposed to spell that word without looking it up.)

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (2 children)

Ketchup is a child’s condiment. Catsup is also an acceptable spelling if you’re silent generation Illinois resident. The main burger joint in my town has a habenero ketchup and I make an exception because it slaps harder than a power slap PPV

[–] [email protected] 7 points 4 months ago

Katsup must be the chaotic neutral spelling of the word

Bbq sauce is taking the sweet role here.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 months ago

If the sandwich is very saucy I'll go opposite way because the soggy bun will be on top.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 months ago

borger is like mulch

you want to donut it a little bit

when i was a kid (and hey, I'd probably still eat one today if I was like...at a cookout and desperately wanted to out myself as a weirdo) I used to take buns and squirt a little bbq sauce or ketchup in one and eat that as a burger. hotdog buns too (thats usually ketchup only but I can see the bbq sauce vision)
