For several weeks, President Donald Trump and his administration have been grasping for evidence that a man his administration deported and imprisoned in error is a dangerous gang member, and the effort has now reached what may be an untoppable peak: the President repeatedly insisting in an in-person interview that an obvious text label that says MS13 in the Calibri typeface is an actual tattoo.

On Tuesday, Trump sat for an interview with ABC News correspondent Terry Moran. Moran asked Trump about Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who was sent to El Salvador's CECOT prison without due process and in violation of a protective order, and who remains in El Salvador despite a Supreme Court ruling demanding he facilitate the man's return. Trump said (contradicting his administration's previous public statements) that he "could" pick up the phone and order Abrego Garcia's return, but that he refused because Abrego Garcia was a member of the MS-13 gang. His evidence: "on his knuckles, he had MS-13."

That would be the sort of evidence the government ordinarily would present at an immigration hearing, but so far it's refused. Trump has posted what he claims to be an image of these tattoos to his Tru …

Meta is making a few notable adjustments to the privacy policy for its Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. In an email sent out on April 29th to owners of the glasses, the company outlined two key changes. First, it’s giving Meta AI a more frequent view of the world. “Meta AI with camera use is always enabled on your glasses unless you turn off ‘Hey Meta,” the email said, referring to the hands-free voice command functionality.

So unless you turn that convenience-minded feature off, Meta will frequently be analyzing whatever’s captured by the built-in camera. If you simply want to use the Ray-Ban Metas as a “normal” camera without any artificial intelligence thrown in, you’ll have to disable “Hey Meta” and stick to the physical controls.

Second, Meta is taking after Amazon by no longer allowing Ray-Ban Meta owners to opt out of having their voice recordings stored in the cloud. “The option to disable voice recordings storage is no longer available, but you can delete recordings anytime in settings,” the company wrote. In its voice privacy notice, Meta states that “voice transcripts and stored audio recordings are otherwise stored for up to one year to help improve Meta’s products.” If the company detects that a voice interaction was accidental, those recordings are deleted after a shorter 90-day window.

The motivation behind these changes is clear: Meta wants to continue providing its AI models with heaps of data on which to train and improve subsequent results. Some users began noticing these policy changes in March, but at least in the United States, Meta says they went into effect as of April 29th.

Earlier this month, the company rolled out a live translation feature to the Ray-Ban Meta product. And just yesterday, Meta rolled out a standalone Meta AI app on smartphones to more directly compete with Open AI’s ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Anthropic’s Claude, and other AI chatbots.

The company is reportedly planning a higher-end pair of Ray-Ban Meta glasses for release later in 2025. The current glasses lineup starts at $299, but the more premium version could cost around $1,000. Meta is set to report its Q1 2025 earnings later on Wednesday, and the company is likely to address the tariff chaos that has roiled markets in recent months.

With the latest NDP defeat we're besieged by well meaning arguments on how we can save the NDP or return it to a working class party. As if that were ever the case.

The NDP was founded as a union with the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF) and the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) in 1961. Even then, both parent organizations routinely silenced revolutionary aspirations of their members with swarming clouds of labor aristocrats determined to censor liberatory momentum with the very same careerist management/consultant parasites that dominate the Labour to NDP pipeline today. Leading to the NDP's formation, the CCF had recently caved to the red scare and replaced their revolutionary Regina Manifesto (a creed that won medicare and more) to the reformist Winnipeg Declaration which fell flat other than the "achievement" of creating the of the NDP. More disappointing, the bodies which made up the CLC had a proud history of purging socialists opposed to the Marshall Plan or NATO (also supported by the CCF), while banning entire unions they deemed as too friendly to socialism or socialist states, and eagerly imitated the American Federation of Labor’s partnership with the CIA to quietly collude with the Canadian state to suppress liberatory organizing at home and abroad.

Born from such rot, it's little wonder the NDP has brought Canadians no closer to securing the most minimal human demands of peace, land, or bread. Even while they routinely win provincial governments, the legacy of each NDP regime continues the pattern of bourgeoisie lackeyism to enforce the status quo at any cost; their most radical members serving only to redirect liberatory energy for material change into immaterial rhetorical campaigns at best. A small tasting of the exhaustive proof that the party is no instrument of the masses features the following recent lowlights:

If this is the cutting edge of Canadian class struggle, of course the Canadian worker remains insulated from class consciousness, still happy to bathe in the spoils of western imperialism and ongoing genocides of Indigenous populations backed by Canadian corporations from coast to coast to coast. Few question where their tax dollars go, fewer how their state pension grows.

From 2025 forward, that period of comfort comes to a slow and obvious end alongside the American hegemony that secured it. As the decline of American empire will continue to bring about shocks to the western economic system, it's our duty not to prop up the equally decaying liberal/social democratic structures that brought us here, but to escalate the jailbreak of masses restrained by such unscientific idylic thought. Socialism is a scientific method to assess and advance the means of production beyond the anarchy of markets and nature alike. Now is the time of monsters, and only we can save us.

If we truly seek to secure universal peace, land, and bread, our task is to elevate class-consciousness and bring that awareness to life through the establishment of rank-and-file formations rooted in the real conditions and needs of working people. We must reawaken to our responsibilities of directing unions into struggle, assemblies into decisive projects, and movements into action without asking for permission or participation from institutions with a vested interest in prolonging the status quo.

The people, and only the people, are the motive force of history. We must go to the masses, not to instruct them, but to learn and understand their needs to forge a revolutionary program from their conditions. We must form new organs of people's power: workers' councils, tenant unions, Indigenous-led land defense formations, and more configurations of class struggle independent from the ruling class.

Our task is clear: unite the scattered, awaken the sleeping, organize the willing, and struggle without compromise.

There are some already taking up this task, with the Communist Party of Canada being at the forefront, but we need more hands at the wheel and eyes on deck as we continue to chart what socialism with Canadian characteristics will look like.

What is the efficient implementation of mass-line process across Canada's complex communities? What is the efficient recipe for cadre education and self criticism? What is the efficient congress to bridge organizations with evolutionary momentum into a singular revolutionary movement?

Let New Democrats cling to their sinking vanity project. Let us build something new.

Kneecap were set to perform at the Hurricane Festival in June, one of Germany's largest festivals and its sister event, the Southside Festival. The festivals issued a statement last week saying: "Kneecap will not be performing at Hurricane and Southside Festival this year," without providing further context. At the same time, the ticket provider for the events also stated that the events have been cancelled.

Following their performance at the US Coachella Music Festival in April, where Kneecap displayed "f*** Israel, free Palestine" on the stage, the band has received a surge of backlash, including calls to revoke their work visas to the US, championed by TV personality Sharon Osborne.

The US booking agency Independent Artist Group (IAG), which sponsored Kneecap's US work visas, announced the band is no longer their client. The band were set to tour in the US in October, with most of the shows being sold out.

Mr Ani said people can learn a lot about the world around them, if they just look.

“Western Australia, and Australia in general, is a place built on stories of migration,” he said.

He said Guildford, a place based on the England town, showed that people who migrated wanted to keep a part of home with them.

“Having come from an immigrant family myself, I think that’s definitely true,” Mr Ani said.

What a great sentiment to finish the article with. Rest of the article is a good read, not long enough though.

Pakistan's information minister says that the country has "credible intelligence" that India intends to launch a military strike within the next 24 to 36 hours.

Attaullah Tarar's comments come after India accused Pakistan of supporting militants behind an attack in Indian-administered Kashmir that killed 26 tourists last week. Islamabad rejects the allegations.

Tarar said that India intends to use the attack as a "false pretext" for a strike and that "any such military adventurism by India would be responded to assuredly and decisively".

The BBC has contacted the Indian foreign ministry for comment.

The attack near the tourist town of Pahalgam was the deadliest attack on civilians in two decades in the disputed territory. Both India and Pakistan claim the region and have fought two wars over it.

Troops from both sides have traded intermittent small-arms fire across the border in recent days.

There has been speculation over whether India will respond with military strikes against Pakistan, as it did after deadly militant attacks in 2019 and 2016.

Authorities said last week they had conducted extensive searches in Indian-administered Kashmir, detaining more than 1,500 people for questioning. More people have been detained since then, although the numbers are unclear.

Authorities have demolished the houses of at least 10 alleged militants. At least one was reportedly linked to a suspect named in the shootings.

Kashmir, which India and Pakistan claim in full but administer only in part, has been a flashpoint between the two nuclear-armed countries since they were partitioned in 1947.

Indian-administered Kashmir has seen an armed insurgency against Indian rule since 1989, with militants targeting security forces and civilians alike.

India has not named any group it suspects carried out the attack in Pahalgam and it remains unclear who did it. A little-known group called the Resistance Front, which was initially reported to have claimed it carried out the shootings, issued a statement denying involvement. The front is reportedly affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba, a Pakistan-based militant group.

Indian police have named three of four suspected attackers. They said two were Pakistani nationals and one a local man from Indian-administered Kashmir. There is no information on the fourth man.

Many survivors said the gunmen specifically targeted Hindu men.

The attack has sparked widespread anger in India, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi publicly saying the country will hunt the suspects "till the ends of the earth" and that those who planned and carried it out "will be punished beyond their imagination".
