I would be a really bad re-education counselor for this type of person
I'm talking heavy sack beatings going up 500% kind of bad

yeah, as director of reeducation my annual budget would just be
Pit Digging Equipment..........$67 Million
What are you even going to do with $67 million worth of the child-sized plastic toy shovels for playing with sand?
If we keep putting up the statue I bet that guy would eventually injure himself tearing it down.
And that could be counted as a win for Satan.
I could hide in the Satan statue and when he tries to attack it, I stand up and laugh
He'd have a coronary and go straight down to the floor

cue laugh track and music like in that quebecois show they play on budget airlines
Tbh the headless Satan statue would go hard.
I don't know why, but theres something really funny about "Former Atheist, Now proud Anglican Christian"
You want to be a shithead Nazi reactionary, and you go with the Anglicans? At least the TradCatholics have an aesthetic and pathos even if it's rancid
"Former Atheist, Now proud Nestorian Christian" is a good bit.
"I just converted to Hussitism for the girls, honestly"
Drop the "girls" part and it'll be Rod Dreher's next shtick. Born and raised a Methodist, converted to Catholicism at 26, converted to Eastern Orthodox at 39. Now that Orbán is out, it's time for him to leave Hungary for Czechia.
I've kind of made it a personal rule to never trust an adult convert to any religion.
Kingdom Come: Dreher
A lot of these chuds go with whatever is convenient to them, I suspect they didn't have many choices near to them so went with this.
They're also probably the least popular person at the local Church and everyone tries to avoid them
Anglicans are the Protestants that kept the Catholic aesthetics, also a lot of the saints and theology, they just cut out the Vatican.
We can imagine if a devout Satanist did that in a Christian church? Heo without a cape here still has committed a range of offences.
its what they do
"haha, is that a ranbow flag shirt, what are you VIRTUE SIGNALING??" proceeds to wear a MAGA hat
"you shouldn't hire women and minorities you should hire people based on SKILL" proceeds to explain why white men need to be hired
Complains about woke, proceeds to cry about a statue existing
When I think of former atheists I think of policy wonks who hate it when people don't take tradition into account. Like they'll actually quote scripture at you and are hypochondriacs about being based.
When I think of christians I'm not necessarily fond of them, but I think of a mid western social group. Like a balding dad volunteering to coach baseball for middle schoolers. Or moms talking about reality TV on Thanksgiving while a dad teaches the kids how to play poker.
Like if you were going to learn anything it wouldn't be the best hashtags to post about God it would be how to have a relationship with grace so you stop thinking about yourself and then you do it again when you think you're the best not-thinker and do it again when you realize that there are other points of view in this world and then again when you realize there's only one good POV and it's my politics.
People who agree with the culturaly hegemonic position are normal and comforting, people who challenge the hegemonic position are argumentative and annoying.

I am sorry to say that your brain is a victim of propaganda
I've made good experiences with Christian youth groups and I'm not even baptized. Two times in two separate countries I was invited to join one of these groups and both times I've found them to be very positive places. Your mileage may vary greatly of course, but that association isn't necessarily a result of propaganda.
As a child I spent some time in America and it was anecdotal. The anecdotes not being representative of the parts I'm not fond of nor comprehensive of my time around them.
The purpose, however, is to contrast with former atheists who take the bible itself as a lot more perscriptive for the praxis of Christianity than anyone I've ever met involved in the church. More clarifyingly, I see Christians using GOP talking points washed through pastor language as theory for their praxis
AmeriKKKans try to be normal about atheism challenge, difficulty: impossible. When i think about Christians, i know two or three genuinely nice and decent people who aren't weird about it and understand the inherently problematic parts of scripture and have based takes on how awful evangelicals and tradcaths are. And literally every other Christian i know is just various degrees of reactionary. Meanwhile, besides these two or three exceptions, every single politically trustworthy person i know is an atheist or an agnostic.
To be frank, your personality (and your material conditions) are a bigger factor in whether you are a reactionary or “based” christian, than your actual religion.
These aren't particularly controversial takes, the few based christians i know have all been socialized in leftist circles and one of them is a trans girl. And there's a very clear correlation between actually being compassionate, conscientous and caring about other people on one hand, and mostly caring about being perceived as a good samaritan and having an absolute truth you can whip out whenever you need to shut people up on the other. The former correlates with being the kind of christian leftists can find common ground with, the latter unsurprisingly correlates with being a bigotted hypocrite.
Maybe if he tried wearing a cape he'd be less jealous of this statue's style.
Braver still would be the exposed skull + bouquet style. can you pull it off, Michael?
These people worship the pedo elites like trump tho. Like wtf are they smoking lol
wtf are they smoking
Feudalism
Lol
Ok, fascists owe every one of us $20 every time they make us go easy on Reddit Atheism out of spite for even a second.
EDIT: better joke
No. We absolutely don't. "Reddit atheists" were actually wrong about a fuckton of things, it shouldn't surprise anybody in hindsight that the sceptic movement was largely a bunch of chauvinists that would pivot away from atheism and get funneled into the fash pipeline at the drop of a hat. It's just that the problem here was always the reddit part, not the atheism part.
Chauvinist STEMlords do not suddenly become based for rejecting young earth creationism. They were still chauvinist STEMlords and immediately used atheism as an excuse to align themselves with the genocidal wars the post 9/11 US waged in Iraq and Afghanistan, and with the entire islamophobic superstructure that served as the propagandistic backdrop for that campaign of mass murder and a few years later formed large parts of the substrate the alt right (that is now virtually identical to the right) grew out of.
Reddit atheism always had the undercurrent of being war on terror propaganda for liberals with a PhD. It also always had the misogynist bias and sex pest tendencies that are rampant in Epsteinian academia, see Dawkins, Pinker, Krauss etc.
You fuckers need to learn NUANCE. Seriously. It grosses me out that you can't say anything here without somebody feeling the need to include the literal worst example of that thing in human history as something we need to unconditionally support.
I guess it wasn't really surprising that "Reddit atheism" was just cover for post-9/11 pro-war-on-terror islamophobia, given
, but it sure is frustrating and awful.
I would like to gently suggest that when you feel a need to make a "bold" statement, you first take a breath and ask yourself if there are reasons it could be incorrect. Maybe you can't think of any, and that's fine, maybe in some cases you are right (not here) and in some cases you just can't figure out the error and need help (like we all do sometimes).
I say this in part because I just can't imagine how else such warped, obviously false, and ideologically deeply incoherent claims get made, except that the above question needed to be asked but wasn't.
Reddit atheism was chauvinistic and philosophically profoundly backwards. Their intellectual posturing was pathetic and senseless and they used a veil of faux-progressivism to attack social minorities and cheerlead war.
Reddit atheists were like Democrats in that they have the most ridiculous opposition, mainly American evangelicals, to make themselves look good but that didn't prevent them from being complete fools
Incidentally, ironic distancing is reactionary and we should seek to have sincerity in any decent progressive movement.
I hate to be the “I was only being ironic” guy, but in this case my intent was to make a joke how these christian nationalists made me miss the reddit atheist, so I rewrote it to clarify.
It was poorly worded and I take full responsibility for that.
Reddit atheists were right about everything
Counterpoint: elevatorgate
More people need to watch Moral Orel.
I've seen that exact subreddit compared positively to the rest of reddit on this very website. Or just the atheist subreddit, I forget.
