holding flashlight under face

Imagine a terrifying world where we are all ruled by monsters of every stripe. And not hot ones like werewolves, but instead decaying zombies and mummies who are both insensitive to, and actively benefit from the immense suffering they cause on a daily basis. The top echelon of society, filled with profit-seeking, bloodsucking vampires. And the worst of it is that they repeat on a daily basis that what they are doing is not only just, but there is no other possible way to do it.

Pretty spooky, right? What if I told you that this world... was our own?

Happy Halloween!

Friendly reminder: when commenting about a news event, especially something that just happened, please provide a source of some kind. While ideally this would be on nitter or archived, any source is preferable to none at all given.

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Resources For Understanding The War

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.

Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.

Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.

Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.

On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Telegram Channels

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

Pro-Russian

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.

https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.

https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.

https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.

https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.

https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.

https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.

https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine

Almost every Western media outlet.

https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.

https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

Israel harassing West Bank residents ahead of Blinken arrival

Zein Basravi reporting from Ramallah in the Occupied West Bank.

This is a noticeably busier evening on the Israeli military front in terms of these ongoing operations in the occupied West Bank.

These sorts of constant, consistent harassing, keeping the occupied West Bank and the residents in these communities on edge.

These operations seem to be happening at a higher frequency in the lead-up to the US secretary of state’s visit which should be happening at about 11:00am local time [09:00 GMT on Sunday]. In just a matter of hours, he’ll be coming here.

Blinken is meant to be meeting with the Palestinian Authority President Abbas. No doubt the primary focus of those conversations will be trying to bring about a ceasefire to stop the violence happening in Gaza.

But in parallel, what’s been happening in the occupied West Bank, illegal occupation, settlers attacking Palestinian communities consistently, these ongoing nightly raids by the military, the problem of Israel continuing to slowly digest the occupied West Bank, these will all be issues that no doubt Mahmoud Abbas will raise with the US secretary of state.

But to what end is still an open question.

No level of diplomacy seems to be leading to any solutions or to a halt in the ongoing violence in Palestinian communities, not just in Gaza, but here in the occupied West Bank as well.

Imagining a scenario where as a half measure Israel is forced out of the West Bank and suddenly 600,000 fanatic settlers have to move into Israel proper. They'll instantly become hostile to the Israeli state and we'll get news about the IDF doing another crazy Waco incident every 5 days until the state collapses or the settlers nuke Iran.

Biden says progress made on ‘humanitarian pause’

US President Joe Biden says progress has been made on securing a so-called “humanitarian pause”.

When asked if any progress had been made on the issue, Biden replied “yes” as he left a church in Delaware and offered a thumbs up before getting into his vehicle. He did not give any further details.

Israeli forces cut off northern Gaza from rest of the enclave

There are reports that the Israeli forces are pushing deep into the northwestern parts of the Gaza Strip, namely the city of Beit Lahia, and from the northeastern side of the city of Beit Hanoun. In addition, there are movements from the southeast all the way to the west, cutting two major roads Salah al-Din Street and the coastal line of Rasheed Street.

The Israeli forces keep pushing deep from four different directions, squeezing the Gaza Strip. There are reports about intense fighting going on between the Israeli army and Palestinian groups in these areas, people being killed, more houses being destroyed and residents who could not flee caught in this war zone.

The road to the southern part has been shut, there’s no way for people to leave. Whoever is in northern Gaza will remain there.

maybe they can actually pull off this maneuver, but idk how well they'll be able to hold it

China supports peace conference on Palestine to push ‘two-state solution’

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has expressed support for a broad and authoritative peace conference on Palestine as soon as possible.

The goal? To push for a “two-state solution”, Wang said in a call with his Omani counterpart, Sayyid Badr al-Busaidi, according to a Chinese foreign ministry statement.

Map GOAT Rybar reports a major Russian breakthrough on southwestern flank of Avdiivka, with the longest Ukrainian line of trenches allegedly falling.

This could be fatal for the defending Ukrainian forces, as Russian forces are now pretty much 1km away from the fortified Khimik suburb, and 1km away from the line of small villages that are vital for the Ukrainian supply line here. If Russians start storming these villages and the coke plant north of Avdiivka falls, then the city is effectively under siege.

Israel will deduct funds earmarked for Gaza from Palestinian Authority tax transfers

The Israeli government’s security cabinet made the decision “to deduct all funds designated for the Gaza Strip” from the tax revenues it collects on behalf of the Palestinian Authority.

“Israel is severing all contact with Gaza,” the government said in a statement.

The transfers have come under renewed scrutiny after far-right Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich this week announced he would not release the funds, accusing the PA of supporting the Hamas attack on October 7.

Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant said yesterday that the transfers should continue, however, in an effort to help “stabilise” the situation in the occupied West Bank, where attacks by Israeli forces and settlers have increased amid the Gaza war.

Video shows Israeli tank apparently opening fire on passenger vehicle on the main Gaza road

An Israeli tank was filmed apparently opening fire on a passenger vehicle as it executed a U-turn on the main road running through Gaza.

The footage — filmed by Palestinian freelance journalist Yousif Al Saifi and geolocated by CNN — shows the tank close to the Netzarim Junction, a key crossroad to the south of Gaza City, and about three kilometers (1.8 miles) from the Strip’s eastern boundary.

“The tank was standing there and targeting anyone who came close to it,” Al Saifi said, describing the incident on his Telegram account. “A car and a bus were both targeted in that area; there was also a bulldozer beside the tank.”

It is not known who was driving the vehicle, nor their condition after the incident. The Israeli army has not publicly commented on the incident.

https://www.cnn.com/middleeast/live-news/israel-hamas-war-gaza-news-10-30-23/h_3fa7520f2f4f62570a128213a50d3db7

Fucking CNN had no video. Here it is - Nitter

I found here - Shocking video shows Israeli tank target family inside car in Gaza - Egypt Independent

Israel's noose around Gaza City begins to tighten

The presence of an Israeli tank on the main north-south highway in the Gaza Strip is surely a sign that Israel’s noose around Gaza City is beginning to tighten.

The tank which fired on a car moving towards Gaza City marks the first appearance of Israeli forces on the road just north of Wadi Gaza.

The tank appears to have moved on, but Wadi Gaza is the line the IDF has repeatedly referred to when telling people living in the northern third of the Gaza Strip – including Gaza City and the surrounding areas – to move south.

It’s clear that as Israeli forces gradually escalate their operations, Gaza City will be a major focus of their efforts.

But with tens – perhaps hundreds – of thousands of people remaining in the north out of fear or determination – it seems the IDF could attempt to cut it off completely.

There are only two north-south roads. Salah-al-Din, where this morning’s incident took place, is the main route. A smaller road, along the coast, can be easily targeted by Israeli warships off the coast.

The area just north of Wadi Gaza is less populated than Gaza City to the north and Bureij and Nuseirat to the south. This would be a logical place for Israel to attempt to sever the Gaza Strip in two.

I didn't know France sent a first helicopter.

France to send second helicopter carrier to Gaza coastline as part of aid effort

France’s defence minister said the move comes as part of its worth with the Israeli and Egyptian authorities to find a way to provide medical assistance to the people of Gaza.

France deployed a helicopter carrier to the area last week.

Defence Minister Sebastien Lecornu also told the France Info radio station that messages had been sent to Hezbollah and Israel, urging them not to do anything that would make it impossible for the UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon to carry out its mandate.
