Stealing this from a post on twitter: This is an example of how Trump doesn't come from the shareholder capitalist class, he's a real estate mob guy. These distinctions between factions of capitalists are important.

fair, but what is he going to do? nationalize them? a fine? words alone don't do anything

nationalizing Wal Mart

Socialism with American Characteristics

People's Republic of WalMart

He won't do shit. But at least his deeply unserious followers can pretend he put up a valiant fight against the inevitable higher prices on their behalf. trump-feed

The prices will triple, but daddy Trump will tell them they’re actually plummeting and they’ll believe him

"chocolate rations raised to 15 grams" hours and we'll still have to hear about communism democrat 1984

nationalize them?

lathe-of-heaven JDPON DON will nationalize the heights of the American treat economy. Wal-Mart, McDonald's, Coca-Cola, Disney, all will be brought under the direct control of the American Dictatorship of the Don-letariat

Bit idea: convince Trump to rename the USA "Trump Island" and that he can own all the companies by nationalizing them since they'll have to put his name on everything.

I don't think he's quite that out against his own class, but it would be really funny

[-] [email protected] 49 points 3 weeks ago

I’m likely preaching to the choir but he’s pretty clearly setting them up to take the blame when prices go up rather than seriously expecting the executives to just be ok with depressing their margins with no benefit.

He should demand a hostage from each member of the board of directors to ensure loyalty from Walmart

The tail trying to wag the dog again

Maybe the Waltons will throw him under the bus.

They’re conservative AF but this is going to threaten their bottom line.

They should start calling it the Trump Tax.

They'll raise prices but poor people won't blame Trump because he told them not to. Blame shifts to Walmart for raising it rather than Trump for making the tariffs in the first place.

[-] [email protected] 27 points 3 weeks ago

And they'll raise prices and nothing will happen except poor people getting squeezed.

I thought China was going to?

[-] [email protected] 14 points 3 weeks ago

China is just a division of walmart

unlimited-power Good goood now remind people of the Walton's connection to billdawg and hillary-contempt.

Most likely WalMart will rebrand as a bougie-wink store and tell the poors to piss off while Wall Street collectively bukkakes on the stonks-up ....then again..... Welcome to Costco. I love you. (But fuck Chitibank) seriously.

retail giant is trying to win over wealthier customers

Let them eat tariffs.

[-] [email protected] 15 points 3 weeks ago

If this isn't the perfect display of massive ignorance...

[-] [email protected] 6 points 3 weeks ago

This would result in foreign products maintaining their price competitiveness against domestic products, preventing the supposed domestic investment in production that the tarrifs are aimed at.
