If we really are getting the /r/CTH mojo back then yes absolutely. In my mind the no posting other users rule is to prevent infighting and promote left unity. Dunking on chuds is not that. Hell we used to user ping other redditors to summon them for in person dunks. That's how the legendary hog out nazi was born actually. He got @'d into becoming a legend
It was a really sad day when the reddit admins decided r/CTH was no longer allowed to ping.
They just slowly chipped away at the sub by removing features, replacing nearly the entire mod team, quarantining, etc. It says a lot that even after all that, they were still so afraid of the subreddit that they finally resorted to banning the empty husk of r/the_donald as a "both sides" excuse to also ban r/CTH.
It was so funny when they'd take the bait and then just get brutalized for a few hours
Do it catholic style: Ask forgiveness not permission.
As a Catholic priest (of my own renegade splinter branch of the church so I don't have to pay taxes), this is both ethically and morally correct
God I hope so. If not, what will we do when reddit and twitter both die?! (Hopefully they actually do actually die)
It's pretty safe to say Twitter is dead, right?
It is making death throws at least
We really do have an emote for everything
The important rule is that we obey the rules of other instances / communities when engaging with them. We can post their cringe here as long as it doesn't turn into a problem elsewhere on the network.
Disclaimer: I do not moderate the_dunk_tank and this is not official the_dunk_tank policy.
I do moderate the tank and this seems reasonable to me
Seems reasonable for now, but imo consider changing policy in the future if there's some sort of blowback that we aren't considering for some reason
We're waiting
I think the protocol could be something like post the link in the dunk tank here, and we try to contain the most abrasive dunks here. We can still go interact on the other thread, but we should recognize not to be overly abrasive over there.
So basically:
Play the home court advantage
Recognize the away game situation
Just spitballing here.
The game plan is to bait them here with light dunks there
give it
We don't need to be nice to other instances, but we need to follow their rules to maintain the standing of our own instance. Getting blacklisted for aggressive brigading would be repeating a mistake of the past
a mistake of the past
The mistake was inviting a basis for a ban, not some deontological failing of the act itself. Luckily there are mostly looser rules in that regard on most instances for now.
We have nothing to lose, the whole point of us federating was to beat lib instances into submission
It will fail if we just fragment the fediverse and get the communists segregated to a bubble
Yeah, but we're still early days. We have to be aggressive early on otherwise the libs will just win out by default.
My understanding was that we were expected to abide by the rules of other instances when engaging in those instances, but that ripping on them in our space was fair game.
This seems like a question to ask in the dunk tank
