is it really a plan to move c/traaa to it's own instance? i'm anxious about this and that i wouldn't be able to access the space easily (i don't see federated posts and only local) like i can here through the mega pin. i thought having a more private / exclusive space was the purpose of the matrix server thing?
there's also other trans users / eggs that don't necessarily post in the mega but still read comments and upvote and interact with posts in the comm. if the only way to see the new c/traaa is to make an account on the new instance i worry a lot of trans users like that would be left behind.
don't think it's anything resembling a plan yet but yea i don't think it would be a good idea activity is already low here compared to a couple years ago and a new instance is guaranteed to have a splitting effect where some people just won't bother going there
Yea this is my biggest issue
Also two sites is just inconvenient for me
I don’t know about “move the whole thing” so much as “have a new thing,” and I don’t know that I’d call it any kind of a plan just yet.
i'm just worried it would split the amount of users active in the trans mega
Who said we're doing that?
I’m just kind of trying to figure out a way to have a place where chasers don’t just pop in and post weird stuff about dicks and cis dudes don’t drop by to lecture folks about masculinity etc. It sounds like there’s a feature like that planned for a future lemmy version, so the real move may be to just wait it out.
I was about to say I don't remember such a thing, but I think there is indeed private (not to be confused with local) communities coming.
Edit: Oh yeah, Carcosa talked about it down below, didn't see it.
Edit 2: Of course local only communities are a problem for people like me that are on a different instance. Hoping private will allow federated users.

afaik this has only happened twice in the trans mega (and i'm pretty positive those were a single wrecker that was posting weird struggle bait over the site on different accounts then deleting their accounts after a fair amount of engagement) and the mods acted swiftly to ban them once they were reported
Are we talking about the same events from this past week-ish?
i think so unless i missed something or other incidents
Ok, just checking cause I wouldn’t have guessed that those were the same person (not saying you’re wrong).
i could definitely be wrong but i do think our c/traaa mods are really good at keeping us safe from these things when they happen. although maybe having more (very site active) mods on deck to have a quicker response time would help even more so
The mods here are good :)
i saw kristina and edie talking about it further along in the comments of this thread
