As janky as slack can be on occasion, and as much as I’d prefer zero electron apps whatsoever, I’m really glad my team still uses slack. Teams(new)(new)(final)(new) is so much worse. Down with MS.

E: salesforce too, of course. Just that their UX is slightly less openly terrible.

If it’s out you’re not unstylish, you are simply bringing it back (I’d like that look too pls)

I hadn’t listened to Atari for a while prior to this conversation, and now that I’m going back to them again I’m also thinking I need to revisit Venetian snares. Here are a couple of his tracks in case you’re interested and not already aware of him. They get a bit wild.

Ultraviolent junglist
Winnipeg is a frozen shithole

I think Rossz Csillag Alatt Született is probably my favorite of his albums that I’ve heard.

It’s possible that I’ve gone off on a bit of a tangent here.

Thanks again for the new tunes :)

lol those are exactly the albums I listened to! They're on my bandcamp list for next month (this month I’m snagging some ragana and thou).

Definitely will!

It might be a while before I get to fallow since I don’t play games often, but I just listened to a few rook albums in the gym and they ruled. I like that they’re varying degrees of shouty, and that they combine a few different sounds that I’m into. I think some of this reminds me of Atari teenage riot a bit? Also I really like the growls. The entirety of ugly death is a fuckin mood.

Oh this Ada Rook, or ummmm this one! Primary creator of loud screamy music.

Ooh I like this, thanks!

Also fallow looks awesome, gonna check that out too!

Me, 3 hours ago: “It’ll be simple, just gotta read some docs to set a few nvim settings”

Me, 5 minutes ago, having gone down a lazynvim rabbit hole: monke-beepboop

Yeah the ability to upgrade and repair them is a real draw for me. I wish more stuff (electronics in particular) was built with that in mind. Plus no vendor lock-in, like you said. Although it might be fun to play with asahi…

Ah, yeah, sounds like more firepower is necessary for sure then!

lol I remember those. The newer stuff is definitely less clunky than that OS. I also learned to type on a Mac (Apple IIe)! Prior to this laptop, the last Mac I had used was one of the flat screen iMacs when they were still pretty new (2004/5ish I think). Anyway, good luck!

Edit: have you checked out framework? Those have got me feeling some kind of way.
