It’s bad enough they gotta stink up the break room, now they’re going around making content about eating sardines and how healthy they think it is (it’s not)

Why is this a thing now? Go eat some beans nerds

eating sardines and how healthy they think it is (it’s not)

They are objectively nutritious and healthy. Plus they taste good if you're willing to get over yourself. You're telling on yourself with this post.

Beans are the superior snack.

mfs eat canned beans with 24g of sugar per serving to talk about how much they like the taste of beans

[–] [email protected] 10 points 10 months ago (3 children)

It's not even close. No one has ever tried to convince me to try some beans because the swear they're "not that bean-y"

[–] [email protected] 17 points 10 months ago (1 children)

What do you know, another mayo refusing to eat something because it has a strong flavor.

Have you ever tried non-seasoned beans? May as well be a literal cracker with how tasteless they are.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 10 months ago

I love strong flavors, but I'd rather have no flavor than a strong bad flavor.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 10 months ago (1 children)

beans are very bean-y and that’s why they’re great

they’re like savory gushers, eat that shit now

[–] [email protected] 7 points 10 months ago

My point exactly. Everyone loves beans.

Maximizing my break room popularity by assembling a sardine curry before nuking it into oblivion.

Beans for everyone! bean

[–] [email protected] 16 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I like canned fish, but I eat that stuff at home.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 10 months ago

Obviously thats the way to do it, like open and drain it if you're gonna bring it somewhere afterwards.

I struggle to not make a mess taking mackerel out of the can at home, couldnt imagine eating it straight out of the can at work.

Canned fish 😋

pretty sure this is a direct response to my positive comment about sardines a few days ago. Even got a reply from OP there, calling me an idiot michael-laugh

[–] [email protected] 9 points 10 months ago

Lmao amazing

I'm just processing the comments discussing on what Kingdom krill belongs to. I thought the Aberdeen Bestiary had that sorted out a while ago.

I don't know if it was just the can I had but I tried to eat sardines for the first time the other week and I have not felt that disgusted at food in a long time.

Also you have me with beans.
spongebob-i-fucking-love I love beans. Baked beans in particular. I could eat a whole can of just beans. I love beans.
Lately, I've been enjoying beans and rice. bean

Sardines aren't even in the top 10 of disgusting canned fish, and only gets there if we disqualify all Scandinavian candidates.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 10 months ago

marinate some giant white beans in tomato puree, olive oil and whatever fitting spices & herbs you desire for a day and go to flavortown

I've never seen posts about canned sardines, but honestly canned fish is quite good. Sardines are pretty good but mackerel and Herring are even better if you can find them.

Kippers + good spicy mustard + apricot jam + crackers

[–] [email protected] 9 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) (2 children)

Mustard and jam? How does that not clash really badly?

[–] [email protected] 12 points 10 months ago (2 children)

You're being too sacred with sweet flavor and the fruit-savory-segregation. Start putting jams everything gets better. Girled chese? jam. Soup? jam. It's like how bullion is the salt with flavor.. Jam is the sweet with flavor. A little sweet with bite? Wow! A little sweet with bite and a nice tasty fish? WOW!

Dunno, the fish somehow makes it work. If I hadn't tried it I wouldn't believe it either

[–] [email protected] 13 points 10 months ago (1 children)

In a functioning society trying out that combination would award you a service medal for advancing society

The fervor of my comrades guided my hands as it headed towards my palate

(swear to fucking god it rules, if you're a fish eater try it with a charcuterie setup, helps it not feel as weird)

[–] [email protected] 9 points 10 months ago

Beans, 'dines, and 'tines.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 10 months ago

Counterpoint: Fish sauce and Worcherster sauce are just canned fish left to sit for a long time.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 10 months ago

They even make fancy canned beans. Like the Greek gigantes beans in tomato sauce. Yum

[–] [email protected] 8 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Canned pilchards in tomato sauce is a South African tradition at this point, especially in sandwiches.

You're wrong about sardines and you should feel bad.

You are correct about beans, but you should still feel bad.

I fuckin love canned tuna (skipjack or light, not albacore so much).

I've only tried a canned fish besides tuna or salmon once, it was sardines and I didn't like it. I'd kind of like to try other canned fish but I'm afraid I'll be disappointed again.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 10 months ago

Back when I used to eat fish I just used it as a vehicle for lemon juice, but sardines can't even do that right! 😠
