Image is of the damage caused by an Iranian Kheibar Shekan ballistic missile in Israel, causing dozens of injuries.

Now in our second week of the conflict, we have seen continuing damage to both Israel and Iran, as well as direct US intervention which nonetheless seems to have caused limited damage to Fordow and little damage to Iran's nuclear program. Regime change seems more elusive than ever, as even Iranians previously critical of the government now rally around it as they are attacked by two rabid imperialists at once. And Iran's government is tentatively considering a withdrawal, or at minimum a reconsideration, of their membership to the IAEA and the NPT. And, of course, the Strait of Hormuz is still a tool in their arsenal.

A day or so on from the strike on Fordow, we have so far seen basically no change in strategy from the Iranian military as they continue to strike Israel with small barrages of missiles. Military analysts argue furiously - is this a deliberate strategy of steady attrition on Israel, or indicative of immense material constraints on Iran? Are the hits by Israel on real targets, or are they decoys? Does Iran wish to develop a nuke, or are they still hesitating? Will Iran and Yemen strike at US warships and bases in response to the attack, or will they merely continue striking only Israel?

And perhaps most importantly - will this conflict end diplomatically due to a lack of appetite for an extended war (to wit: not a peace but a 20 year armistice) or with Israel forced into major concessions including an end to their genocide? Or even with a total military/societal collapse of either side?

The bars are almost empty (on a Friday night of all nights), and the pizza places full, near the Pentagon and White House at the moment, for those who care about tracking that. I know some people on here do use it as an indicator.

News is floating around that the snake Rafael Grossi said Iran is hiding nuclear material in Isfahan.

The truth is somewhat more bizarre and actually concerning. In an interview with "Fox News" a few days ago, the anchor says that he claimed Iran was hiding 900lbs of enriched uranium at "ancient site near Isfahan." Grossi does not deny saying it (I can't find evidence he ever did say it.) He replies that the IAEA doesnt know and can't be sure unless Iran allows IAEA observers into Iran.

Screenshot from the linked article.

It is noteworthy that this specific nazi news outlet used to employ the current US Secretary of Genocide Pete Hegseth who used to talk about "bombing Iranian cultural sites" on his show.

Anyways. Grossi gets plausible deniability while the US gets to threaten Iran that they will bomb the 800 year old Mosque outside Isfahan if the Islamic Republic doesnt allow IAEA spies into the country.

The idea of hiding uranium in a mosque is so laughably absurd but I guess 25 years of war on terror programming has prepared people to accept it.

Thankfully the Iranian government did officially ban cooperation with ~~Mossad~~ IAEA earlier this week.

So these rabid nazi fucks are threatening to destroy world heritage to get Iran to allow the Israeli Atomic Espionage Agency back in?

Those 2 planes targeted by Palestine Action that resulted in Starmer giving the org the terrorism label? They weren't even RAF owned. They are owned by a hedge fund that leases them to the british military.

Lmfao Western militaries are a joke, next you'll tell me they're actually renting their bullets and have to pay a premium for every one they fire

[-] [email protected] 14 points 3 days ago

I've already suggested that NATO militaries could lease factories and charge themselves 3% GDP on a single bullet to get them up to 5%, then just refund it when the Americans aren't looking. This stuff makes me think that's already happening for the 2% target.

The RAF had its flight training privatized, leading to what I think is fair to say is a total collapse of training capability.

The NAO investigation into the UK Military Flying Training System (UKMFTS) contract, which is let to a consortium backed in part by US arms multinational Lockheed Martin, thundered that the RAF was short of 330 pilots, while almost half of students entering the UKMFTS system last year failed to complete their intermediate training.

"In its worst year (2018-19), 49 students completed Phase 2, an 86 per cent shortfall against the [Ministry of Defence's] current aircrew requirements. In its best year (2015-16), 182 students completed Phase 2, a 21 per cent shortfall," said the NAO in its latest report.

Damningly, RAF fast jet pilots, the two-winged master race* who fly the service's Typhoon and F-35 fighters, were taking more than seven years to get from joining the Air Force to being declared ready for frontline duties.

Three recent events to do with Iran that I believe may be interlinked:

First, Iran has begun excavation operations at Isfahan, the underground nuclear site where only the entrances were targeted. No GBU-57 MOPs deployed here. They have opened one of these entrances today, visible on satellite imagery. It is no longer entombed. Iran may have transferred enriched uranium and centrifuges stored inside the facility, likely undamaged. Unless this movement has been co-ordinated with the United States for a potential handover of enriched material (I doubt this), this is an important development, as it could be considered a breach of the ceasefire.

The virtual US embassy in Iran has released a statement advising US citizens to leave Iran immediately while the airspace is open to commerical and civilian aircraft. Archive source to avoid data capture by a US government website

Event: As of June 26, 2025, Iranian airspace has been partially reopened, although commercial travel from Tehran and other major hubs may be disrupted. U.S. citizens should monitor local media and consult commercial airlines for more information on outbound flights from Iran. U.S. citizens planning to depart Iran should proceed by land to Azerbaijan, Armenia, Turkey, or Turkmenistan, if conditions are safe.

Leave Iran immediately. Have a plan to leave Iran without relying on U.S. government assistance. If you cannot leave Iran, choose a safe place in your residence or another safe building. Take some food, water, medicine, and other essential items with you. Keep your cell phone charged and stay in touch with family and friends to keep them informed of your situation.

Another E-3 Sentry AWACS aircraft has been transferred to Saudi Arabia. Remember, there are still many US fighter aircraft (likely over 200) forward deployed to the Middle East, and the 4x B-52 Stratofortress bombers and 6x F-15E Strike Eagle aircraft have not left Diego Garcia.

Trump's tweet about Khamenei is likely not about him or his speech at all. I'd guess it's a signal to Iran given the developments at Isfahan. This is a developing and dynamic situation, if the US or Israel do believe Iran has excavated enriched uranium and intact centrifuges, without oversight by the USA, it could escalate fast. Again, could possibly based on these assumptions, not will.

Update: preliminary and unconfirmed reports of explosions or air defence activity in Tabriz, Malard, Eslamshahr, Karaj, and the Western parts of Tehran. Updating to say it's most likely over cautious air defence.

Video of said activity

Wonder if this is just the usual events since the beginning of the ceasefire (air defence firing as a precaution), or something else.

I find it funny how some Malaysian states banned the use of single-use plastics years ago and are planning to phase-out use nationally by 2030 but we continued to accept Western plastic waste.

Malaysia will stop accepting U.S. plastic waste, creating a dilemma for California

Malaysia will ban plastic waste imports from the U.S. starting Tuesday because of America’s failure to abide by the Basel Convention treaty on international waste transfers, in a move that could have significant consequences for California.

Malaysia emerged as a major destination for U.S. waste after China banned American waste imports in 2018. California shipped 864 shipping containers, or more than 10 million pounds of plastic waste, to Malaysia in 2024, according to the Basel Action Network, an advocacy group. That was second only to Georgia among U.S. states.

Malaysia to set stricter plastic import controls

According to U.S. Census Bureau data, the country exported 35,316 tons of plastic scrap to Malaysia in 2024. United Nations Comtrade data shows that from 2021-2024, Malaysia received more plastic scrap imports from around the globe than any other non-OECD (Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development) country.

“Our people and environment in Malaysia have suffered greatly from the pollution caused by imported plastic and electronic waste,” says Wong Pui Yi, BAN researcher from Kuala Lumpur. “Other countries in Southeast Asia are likewise being harmed by foreign plastic waste daily. We sincerely hope that exporting countries will help us put a stop to waste dumping and trafficking.

“But for these new regulations to be successful, the government must enforce them transparently, swiftly prosecute those who violate the law and close any loopholes that may arise, including clamping down on corruption. We must remain vigilant and continue to spot-check the system with intelligence-led searches and seizures.”

trump-drenched : "Why would the so-called “Supreme Leader,” Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, of the war torn Country of Iran, say so blatantly and foolishly that he won the War with Israel, when he knows his statement is a lie, it is not so. As a man of great faith, he is not supposed to lie. His Country was decimated, his three evil Nuclear Sites were OBLITERATED, and I knew EXACTLY where he was sheltered, and would not let Israel, or the U.S. Armed Forces, by far the Greatest and Most Powerful in the World, terminate his life. I SAVED HIM FROM A VERY UGLY AND IGNOMINIOUS DEATH, and he does not have to say, “THANK YOU, PRESIDENT TRUMP!” In fact, in the final act of the War, I demanded that Israel bring back a very large group of planes, which were heading directly to Tehran, looking for a big day, perhaps the final knockout! Tremendous damage would have ensued, and many Iranians would have been killed. It was going to be the biggest attack of the War, by far. During the last few days, I was working on the possible removal of sanctions, and other things, which would have given a much better chance to Iran at a full, fast, and complete recovery - The sanctions are BITING! But no, instead I get hit with a statement of anger, hatred, and disgust, and immediately dropped all work on sanction relief, and more. Iran has to get back into the World Order flow, or things will only get worse for them. They are always so angry, hostile, and unhappy, and look at what it has gotten them - A burned out, blown up Country, with no future, a decimated Military, a horrible Economy, and DEATH all around them. They have no hope, and it will only get worse! I wish the leadership of Iran would realize that you often get more with HONEY than you do with VINEGAR. PEACE!!!"

Supreme Court backs parents seeking to opt their kids out of LGBTQ books in elementary schools

The Supreme Court on Friday bolstered religious rights as it ruled in favor of parents who objected to LGBTQ-themed books that a Maryland county approved for use in elementary school classrooms.

In a 6-3 vote, the court backed the parents' claim that the Montgomery County Board of Education's decision not to allow an opt-out for their children violated their religious rights under the Constitution's First Amendment, which protects religious expression.

"The board's introduction of the 'LGBTQ+ inclusive' storybooks, along with its decision to withhold opt-outs, places an unconstitutional burden on the parents' rights to the free exercise of their religion," Justice Samuel Alito wrote for the court.

The Supreme Court has a 6-3 conservative majority that is often receptive to religious claims. The liberal justices dissented.

So this means my kid doesn't have to get flunked in history class when they teach "sTaLiN sTaRvEd tHe uKrAinIAns!!!" in class, right?

I assume this mean evangelical nuts like my parents will be allowed to pull their kids out of class when the topic of evolution or geology comes up, god bless America.

Does anyone here know the Iranian born western academic Vali Nasr? He wrote "The Shia Revival" a while back and also a book titled "The Rise of Islamic Capitalism: Why the New Muslim Middle Class Is the Key to Defeating Extremism" (just so you know where he stands).

Anyway he put out a book written right before the Assad government fell called "Iran's Grand Strategy: A Political History", it's what it says on the tin. I think for anyone confused about why the fuck Iran does what it does and what its leaders think, usually in their own terms and not the author's, this is a good read.

But before reading just listen to that episode of citations-needed about the terms "proxy" and "backed" because the author views Iran's "Forward Defense" strategy of supporting these organizations as reprehensible, while no doubt he would not say the same about whatever NGOs the US literally funds. Despite that, it's not too axe-grindish a read I think he did a good job of relaying what the hardliners and reformists believe and why, and any sensible reader will read this and note how in plenty of matters the hardliners are correct.

There's lots of good stuff about Khamenei too, like how he was influenced by new left theories of anti-imperialism and dependency theory. Also explains why Iran for a long time (and even until today) is very reluctant to join a Russia-China axis (the iranian foreign minister literally has "neither east nor west" on its entrance)

At the end he puts out a warning to the regime that basically there's a chasm forming between its commitment to its strategies for resisting the united states as a means of becoming a regional power and the wishes of many iranians to adopt a more """""pragmatic""""" approach (like nuclear negotiations). This was obviously all before the recent missile lobbing war so I hope that chasm as been reduced in favor of the regime.

It's on the audiobook torrent site too

EDIT: Found the guy's twitter and he seems to understand that Iran is not just going to return to the negotiating table after one happens, and it may have only hardened Khamenei's already incredibly hard will to resist the US

CW: Nazi shit

MI6 distances its new chief from Nazi grandfather

yea

I like how MI6 try to make it sound that having a muderous Nazi grandfather is a good thing and an example of diversity in action, actually:

A spokesperson added: "Blaise's ancestry is characterised by conflict and division and, as is the case for many with eastern European heritage, only partially understood.

"It is precisely this complex heritage which has contributed to her commitment to prevent conflict and protect the British public from modern threats from today's hostile states, as the next chief of MI6."

The Daily Mail, which first revealed the family link, reports that it found hundreds of pages of documents in an archive in Freiburg, Germany, which showed Mr Dobrowolski was known as "The Butcher" or "Agent No 30" by Wehrmacht commanders. He reportedly signed off letters to his Nazi superiors with "Heil Hitler" and said he "personally" took part in "the extermination of the Jews".
