Théophile Ferré was a leader of the Paris Commune who was executed by the French government on this day in 1871. Ferré personally authorized the execution of the archbishop of Paris and was the first of 25 Communards to be executed.

Little is known about Ferré's early life, before his participation in the Paris Commune. After Paris was seized by revolutionaries in March 1871, Ferré served on the Commune's Committee of Public Safety, a body given extensive powers to hunt down enemies of the Commune.

On April 5th, the Commune passed a decree that authorized the arrest of any person thought to be loyal to the French government in Versailles, to be held as hostages. Prominent figures arrested included a Catholic priest Georges Darboy and the archbishop of Paris. The Commune hoped to exchange their hostages for Louis-Auguste Blanqui, a revolutionary and honorary President of the Commune, imprisoned by the state.

Following the events of the "Bloody Week", in which the French government summarily executed many suspected Communards, Ferré authorized the execution of several hostages, including Darboy and the archbishop.

After the resistance of the Commune collapsed, Ferré was captured by the army, tried by a military court, and sentenced to death. On November 28th, 1871, he was shot at Satory, an army camp southwest of Versailles. He was the first of twenty-five Communards to be executed for their role in the Paris Commune.

Started back up watching Scavenger's Reign with my dad. He's super into it actually and that rocks. Maybe this is how I can get him to watch an anime.

Show is super good by the way. You should watch it if you've not.

The boundary between worlds grows thin

December draws near

Spirits dance to silent songs

The wild wind howls

Wanted to buy a soundbar for the living room TV, even though its on its last legs, since my dad usually has the volume high and it sounds awful. The TV is old though and I was hoping to be able it had HDMI ARC so that I could set it up so that it turns on with the TV. I had my doubts though so I did a search. The AI result said yes, but checking the manual on the manufacturer website indicated that it does not.

I decided to check the sources for the AI results and none of the links mentioned the TV model number with HDMI ARC. It just decided to piece together two separate sources of information to give an inaccurate answer. I love AIdean-neutral

When I was eating my breakfast this morning consisting of two king size rice crispy treats and a hot chocolate from 7-Eleven, Creamsicle said, “The government wants you to eat all that processed sugar. The government wants you to keep putting that poison in your body.” Weird.

huh just realized that while alcohol is my More Problematic addiction i'm definitely more physically dependent on caffeine. i've taken week-ish breaks from alcohol with no withdrawals, whereas days where i forget my morning caffeine i'm immediately hit with some gnarly physical symptoms.

I guess I need to play more Pokémon until I remember them all

Is there an equivalent for the “helicopter rides” school of thinly veiled, dogwhistly death threats that can be slung back at right wingers in social media arguments?

Always pissed me off that they’re allowed to do that shit but I can’t even tell people they belong in “reeducation camps”.

Gf’s sibling is recounting a story about a co-op that was making a game to “teach with empathy about the Kosovo war about a dog” and how awful a time it was and they probably never ended up making that game.

Anyone else getting sick of AR15s? It's the only goddamn semi automatic rifle you ever hear about these days. I guess I should be 'grateful' that all the mass murderers are drawing the cultural heat away from guns I find more interesting, but damn. I'm just getting some real Stoner Fatigue

Anyone wanna start a dojo and then we can be rival dojos? I don't know any martial arts and will for sure not teach my students well, and if you promise to do the same we could have awese street brawls and sometimes attack each other's dojos. I've seen enough Kung fu movies to know this would be a fucking awesome way to live and I guess anyone can just open up a martial arts dojo regardless of martial arts knowledge.

after Michigan won against OSU a fight started between the teams and the Ohio cops pepper sprayed the Michigan players and guarded the Ohio State players. Classic cop behavior. ACAB

I don't really like anything about my day-to-day job, but it has an above average pension arrangement and above average vacation days, so the only way I'm leaving is if Germany's economy somehow recovers (the country is evil, but the vacation and pension are nice).

My 30s are my only care about vacation and pension era.

I listened to the pod jons episode where one of the jons (apparently one of them is not actually a jon???) interviewed the Kamala Harris campaign. I have no love for them or their insiders so I'm not finding it cringe beyond the regular cringe neoliberals all exude, but the pod jon fans fucking hate these people with the seething hatred of a thousand suns lol.

The campaign staffers literally learned nothing and will change nothing and foreshadowed that no lessons were learned and they will not change what they're doing. And also it's your fault as an American voter for that

Last thought of the night

How can I not be bitter and hostile when some 60 something (at thanksgiving) who has worked in the paper business his entire life is getting ready to retire when I still can’t afford a home?

Existence is a pyramid scheme

Everyone makes fun of the people who want to burn it all down, but nobody has a good reason why people shouldn't want to.
