I know a few conservatives who threw away their ballots because they believe that democrats already rigged them by paying migrants to fraudulently outvote conservatives lol

[–] [email protected] 36 points 3 months ago

Once again, I want to live in the world right wingers have concocted in which the Dems are unfathomably hard fucking core.

In a trans Discord I'm in, someone called Biden "Genocide Joe" and two people were like, "He hasn't done anything genocidal, what are you talking about?" and it turned out they legitimately did not know what it was about and they had heard vaguely about Palestine and considered Israel the aggressor but had no idea what Biden's stance on it was or that the US was involved in supplying them with weapons or money.

After October? What happened in October?

He's giving them actual monetary aid? Wtf? Okay, that's worse than I thought. I thought it was just a political alignment thing, like saying "we support you". But if he's funneling millions of actual money into there, 'genocidal' isn't even an exaggeration!

:::spoiler xkcd

Normies only pay attention to the next source of treats.

Probably a bit of a reduction, I think a lot of people don't like to think about politics because it's pretty stressful

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 months ago

Agreed, I didn’t touch on why, more so just what. Definitely being facetious with my assessment, but I do stand by what I said. It’s depressing and stressful to acknowledge the reality of the sociopolitical climate, most people steer clear and just try to enjoy the good parts of their lives.

Its also the olympics, something i keep forgetting

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I’m sure more people care about the Olympics than the election lol

honestly the summer games are always supposed to be the huge spectacle but we didnt even really have them in 2020 either.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I mean, that's the norm if you don't live in a swing state lmao. Only weirdos and freaks care about the sham election. My parents who didn't register to vote because they think they can avoid jury duty that way is far more relatable to normal people than some lanyard dipshit writing tl;dr posts about why you should vote.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 3 months ago

Hahahaha your example of the jury duty parents is so relatable because I know a lot of older people who do that

[–] [email protected] 21 points 3 months ago

No way? Where is this magical place lmao

My social circle all know for sure, and especially with the drama lately randos seem to know too, even if they aren't nearly as invested as 2016 or 2020

Most people think about politics as much as I think about Football.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Seems legit.

Most folks seem to go out of their way to avoid hearing about politics.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 3 months ago

Most folks think it’s a hobby or niche activity that they just aren’t into. I’ve heard people say “I don’t follow politics” the same way I say “I don’t follow sports”.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 3 months ago

Only commies, fascists, and annoying PMC redditors care about politics in this country

[–] [email protected] 14 points 3 months ago

this would be so based if it were because people finally just turned off their TVs

My coworker had never heard of long covid. He asked me about it a month or two ago, looked a little concerned, then resumed not masking. At least he doesn’t care if people mask though.

I am definitely not posting from the secrete Venusian research outpost hosting the government-in-exile of the USSR

R*ddit is back to genocide denying now that Joe is out

[–] [email protected] 8 points 3 months ago

I think it's the fact the election coverage goes on for so long. Like the UK and France etc in the news recently can call, hold an election and install a new government in a couple of months.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 3 months ago

Most people I've met outside of the punk/commie/queer scenes around here have admitted to me they've never heard of Israel or Palestine. They know it's an election year because they want Trump in office, but otherwise have no clue what's going on.

It's a what?
