He is the chosen one! Praise him!
Lisan al gaib!
Pearl Jam and Green Day are still around?
In body, not spirit
Eddie fell off? D:
I won't shit on your taste except to note that I completely dont understand why so many people like taylor swift... but I'd have high hopes for the khruangbin, I've been hearing some on the radio and liking it, and theres at least some very catchy tracks from vampire weekend, if not amazing IMO, but I haven't listened to the album through or anything.
Bunch of vapid pop music from the looks of it.
Which if that's what you're into then you're in for a hell of a ride so good on ya
Since your musical tastes are superior, what 2024 bangers you been listening to?
In no way is any of my musical taste superior, I also am into extremely vapid shit. My vapid shit is just EDM rather than pop. I wasn't judging just pointing it out.
Anyway shit like this unf can't get enough lots of unreleased and or recently released shit here https://youtu.be/3MnAVI4ZSuQ?si=9SxeblQZfxzdhCUL
Jacob Collier - Djesse vol 4 (not for everyone but it's exactly my shit)
Lucy Rose - This ain't the way you go out
Catpack - both their singles are killer and their debut album comes out in June.
Cory Wong - The Lucky One (vinyl came out 2024 still counts even tho released late 2023)
Milton + Esperanza is prolly gonna be my album of the year, comes out soon and the first single is called "Outubro" out now.
Magdalini - For Spring (pretty good, world music with great harmony and rhythms)
Lawrence - Family Business (not out yet, check out their last album Hotel TV though.
Feel Better, Pt. 3 - Abbi Berry
I definitely haven't listened to any 2024 stuff by him, but Kamasi Washington is one of the few artists I'll blindly get an album from.
I seen the tour of the new album and its incredible! This one is a lot more uptempo, funk, and dancey. Way way different then his past stuff.
Vultures is dog shit. Kanye fell off so hard.
MGMT album is great, probably my favorite on there.
Mary Boone from the vampire weekend song is really good, not crazy about the rest of the album though.
Justice was good, but only listened to it once.
I haven't listened to that many 2024 albums, but I like a bunch:
Stereopolina - ΠΠ΅ΡΠ½ΠΈ Π΄Π»Ρ Ρ ΠΎΡΠΎΡΠ΅Π³ΠΎ Π½Π°ΡΡΡΠΎΠ΅Π½ΠΈΡ (synthpop)
Judas Priest - Invincible Shield (heavy metal)
Chelsea Wolfe - She Reaches Out to She Reaches Out to She (atmospheric industrial)
Allie X - Girl with No Face (synthpop - great production)
Rampen (apm: Alien Pop Music) is probably good too, since it's by EinstΓΌrzende Neubauten. I haven't had the occasion to listen to the whole thing yet though.
Check out Castle Rat - Into the Realm. They just dropped their debut.
Yeah there's that. It's just really good Doom Metal though.
I want to like the Einsturzende Neubaten album but they could have performed in any other language.
Id skip Taylor and Kanye hereβ¦.and ive liked a lot of their music in the past
Nah vultures worth it for the tracks w jpeg production and back to me, and to see his development (or not) as an ill outsider artist.
just downloaded these to add to the playlist
recommend other 2024 albums to check out?
Adrianne Lenker - Bright Future if you like bittersweet folkish stuff
I got this list by searching a torrent tracker for albums released this year, and sorting by most snatched. Most of these artists, I haven't listened to a full album of theirs before. So this list isn't representative of my usual taste in music. I do listen to Squarepusher, Justice, and Kamasi Washington though, and I liked Green Day's and Pearl Jam's 90s stuff. I'm listening to Billie Eilish's new album now and I'm liking it.
No idea why these other posters felt the need to shit on your selection, sure half of it is pretty mainstream pop music but the rest of it is a fair mix of electronica and indie and the likes (maybe those other posters just don't recognize any names other than the mainstream pop artists and feel the need to compensate by being dicks)
just finished Billie Eilish's Hit Me Hard and Soft, it was great, 8/10, fav track is "Lunch". starting squarepusher next
NEW KHRUANGBIN!? THANKS FOR TELLING ME!!!!!11
Haven't heard new four tet, but his work is generally good as hell
Only listened once but the new one is absolutely killer.
he'll yeah
I would recommend Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats- Nell Ora Blue
Burial EP is cool
I see Burial and Squarepusher on your list, you might want to check:
Iglooghost - Tidal Memory Exo
Thank me later (ββ _β )
The Justice and Vampire Weekend albums are pretty good but are the only ones I've listened to from your list.
if you're older than 13 - 15 you're in for a bad time i think
I don't think we listen to the same type of music so the only one of these albums I went through was the new Justice. It was kind of mid, but I think Afterimage is a banger.
check out Cindy Leeβs Diamond Jubilee - definitely my AOTY so far
Dostrotime fucks hard
Oscilloscope video from the single. Photosensitivity warning!!
As a half-assed fan of both, Four Tet's and St. Vincent's releases didn't do much for me. It looks like I've only "liked" one track this year; Training Season, and I'm not usually into pop.
The justice album was mid. Too poppy. Cross was their peak.
dang I need to listen to the new Khruangbin. their live album with Men I Trust (from 2023) was killer, served up incredibly great vibes for the afterglow stage of a mushroom experience
Try 'We Buy Diabetic Test Strips' by Armand Hammer.
I don't think it's their best offering in their discog but it's some good left wing-ish experimental rap. Billy Woods solo stuff is better imo but he last dropped in 2023, and I'd say his magnum opus was Aethiopes or Hiding Places.
To be honest, 2024 hasn't been all that great for music so far for me. I thought 2023 was a great year for it though.
You could also try TANGK, by IDLES if that sort of new-punk is your thing - their new album has some interesting electronic elements too. Again though, they've had better bangers.
