I'll start, I missed the outdoor cats struggle session so i don't know what its deal was except a vague idea that outdoor cats were bad, so I've let my two cats stay being outdoor cats because I feel bad locking them inside, like I want to give them some experience of freedom to go where they please so they can live more fulfilling lives

Edit: also kruschev is imo a lot better than most hexbear users give him credit for

not being an avid anime fan myself, i would like for people here to have a polite discussion regarding their personal interpretations of goblin slayer and shield hero so that i have a better idea of what the party line is regarding these and similar works.

We had a whole ass argument about goblin slayer here once. If you want my takes, goblin slayer dogwhistles alt-right talking points under a fantasy guise. Think like, someone saw the parts of The Lord of the Rings that could be construed as racist and said, "Hmmmm, yes, let's crank it up to 11". Shield hero is slavery apologia ("it's ok to own slaves if you treat them well!") and is deeply misogynistic.

The Lord of the Rings is racist to the bone. Goblin Slayer is just a continuation of the same with less poetry.

Modern fantasy's racism came directly from Tolkien. It certainly wasn't from 14th century English fairytales that Tolnien was referencing.

Their subject matter is bad enough that we'd have to have the whole conversation behind content warnings. I've only seen the intro of one of them and that way more than enough to know I wanted nothing to do with it.
