One, I suspect totally unintentional, thing I kinda like about the Star Wars world building, is it seems like most alien species are a bit "whatever" about all the political shit the humans are getting into.

Clearly there are exceptions, you seem some aliens with the rebellion, a few aliens get close to humans and get involved in their affairs (Chewbacca), but it seems like a lot of them just have an attitude of "not really our business". Which is kind of how I expect things would be if we ever ended up in a universe with a lot of diverse sapient species, some would get involved with our affairs but most would just be like "hey I'll trade you some Wagpog for your Dingloo and I don't really give a shit about anything beyond that".

yeah but the thing is that shouldn't be the case because the empire is explicitly human supremacist and uses aliens as slaves and shit so like, aliens should probably care about that

[–] [email protected] 22 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah I suspect the aliens who do support the rebellion are probably those being impacted by Imperial policy. That or they have their own autonomous resistances.

The Rebellion's official name is "The Alliance to Restore the Republic", it's a group of autonomous resistances acting in coordination. This is old canon I think but one of the big ones are the squid people who supply the Alliance with ships.

Mon Calamari, yeah, the species Admiral Akbar is. I don't think it's ever stated in the movie, but all the more round ships in ROTJ were theirs, meant to contrast with the much more angular human designs.

I actually knew that but I find it a bit weird now because Andor seems to imply that there were a lot of pro-separatist factions in the rebellion. I think Andor himself was in a pro-Confederation militia before the events of the show.

IDK I guess Neo-Republicans took over.

In both legends and canon Separatists holdouts do play an important part in the early rebellion, but eventually get sideline by the coreworld republicans

Fucking KKKore World KKKrackers coopting genuine Out Rim Liberation Struggles!

There's also probably a heap of aliens who are like "okay I breath Methane and everyday I interact with humans I have to wear this stupid suit, can I just deal with my shit right now thanks?"

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 day ago

This guy is probably exhausted with that shit working for Saw

[–] [email protected] 27 points 1 day ago

A lot of it is less “they don’t give a fuck” and more “non-humans are often enslaved or pushed into the criminal world by a human supremacist empire (and republic frankly)”

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The CIS was primarily alien by design of palps.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 1 day ago

By design of palps but also due to legitimate complaints about a relatively human-supremacist republic

Never get into the old expanded universe

That's cuz the EU is pretty hit or miss quality wise. For every KOTOR there's like ten really bad comics about the robot that patched Luke up at the end of Empire was also friends with Yoda and ran a coffee shop with him.

sounds like a rad isekai when is it getting animated

the comics were literally classed as lower level than everything else. the books were mostly decent, with a few stinkers and a few "literally for children", but i never fucked with the comics.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 10 hours ago

Never really got into the EU, but i liked a lot of clone wars comics. I was probably reading them at my friend's house and he filtered out the dog shit for me

and also, if going by previous post, they're all full of all politics of everyone who ever wrote anything for star wars
