It doesn't sting quite as hard because it's not like we're trying very hard to conform to social norms in the first place. But that's the modality of a Trump supporter, apparently, going by how bothered they seem to be about such an innocuous term
That's true, like, I know queer people tend to embrace weirdness and transgressiveness because people see us that way regardless. But my question is more whether this little campaign will just slide off the backs of conservatives and be redirected to us like a lot of cultural policing does.
I have no problems being weird, I have problems being conflated with "left fascists" for arbitrary Harry-Potter-esque reasons like not passing or conforming to lib sensibilities of propriety.
It doesn't seem to be sliding off their backs at all, apparently it's quite wounding to how they conceive of themselves.
Waiting to see if it lasts longer than people caring about Trump's ear, tbh.
