Doesn't Neir Automata already have its own Sephiroth look-alike to begin with? 100% he'd be indisinguishable from any member of Yorha on E.
As a cis person who wouldn't otherwise notice this stuff, it's fun to hear speculation about trans characters from reading the subtext. I would have enjoyed playing FF7 with the added premise that Cloud is trans on top of all the more sensational JRPG fantasy stuff.
It's very much in the spirit of art being a collaboration between author and audience to interpret characters in that way. The fact that a lot of older media simply wouldn't have included trans characters because culture bullshit gives even more weight to the idea of finding trans themes in the subtext, imo. Hopefully we'll see more explicit examples of characters struggling with gender dysphoria in future works. Even setting aside representation, there's a lot of rich storytelling potential there that hasn't been widely explored or mainstreamed.
yeah, like i think it's pretty clear cloud was not intended to be read as a closeted trans woman. but the way he's written has a lot of resonance with many people's (including my own) history and relationship with gender and masculinity, and it's fun to discuss the story and read it that way
of course, in addition to this it would ALSO be good to have more explicitly trans characters who can be discussed in this way, but that's a bit outside the scope of what this post can accomplish. those characters do exist and i appreciate them, but there should be many more
"I do want to see what estrogen would add to that whole situation" is a widely applicable sentiment which I feel often 
it should be more acceptable to just see what estrogen would add to more situations. i should get to forcefem my brother, see what that does
