Or an attorney in case they accidentally drive home or do other things while drunk. Or for telehealth therapy! Or for more drinks! Or maybe they wanna chase it with a good burger nearby! Hey! This drink worked! Do you want to buy the bottle online from Amazon? What other activities are others having while drunk! How about a hotel room nearby and or a person to wakeup with tomorrow? I drove back in 2017-2018, and at that time Uber was starting to get difficult about reimbursing cleaning fees when some drunk puked in the car, which made fewer drivers want to pick up drunks. I can't imagine the situation has improved since then.

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say this comes from Uber drivers getting tired of being assaulted and having their vehicles trashed by drunk people.

It’s not all of them, but it’s likely enough of them to ruin it for everyone.

Is there an actual source for this? I tried searching news for “Uber will know you’re drunk” and found nothing, I reverse look-upped the meme and saw it nowhere, there is no indication of a source in the meme.

I want to know how they will know that you’re drunk, and I want to know why they want to cut off what I assume is a decent chunk of their clientele, but I’m not seeing anything.

by this point most people in america probably don't remember taxi cabs. they would often be dirty and driven by a disheveled wildman. these drivers answered to no one other than their dispatcher who gave just as little of a fuck.

uber was built in response to this. it was not only based on these occasional bad experiences, but to ensure that every working class person was on their best behavior when in the presence of their betters. it was never about a service or bettering anything, other than sparing the better-off from mild inconvenience.

My husband and I used Uber for one of the first times to get back home after a long walk, where we were both inebriated. It was pretty clear and we weren't trying to hide it, but we weren't rude, and I was careful not to slam the door or anything. The driver gave us a 1-star rating and it took a long time before I found a few drivers willing to chance it on me in the meantime. I don't remember that driver but I hope I've cut them off in traffic since. You know what, I probably have.

The point of Uber is to make money. As long as businesses can make money by kicking you in the face, they will do it.

Drivers are currently making like $12-$14/hr, so...yup. Delivery drivers are the number one recipients of government food benefits in the U.S. right now. And Uber will just deny my cleaning fee when someone vomits, soooo...yup. Not accepting that shit in my car and paying out of pocket to clean it after midnight (tons of detailing options open then), having to drag an unconscious stranger out of my car, etc.

Thats a lie if they know you are drunk they will hit you with surge pricing. They are doing something similar with phone battery, if the battery is low they hit you with surge pricing!
