This is the race most of the country and the world has it's eyes on right now. It is reguarded as a referedum on Zionazi lobby money in our politics.

I don’t see a thread about Missouri, hope you don’t mind if I hijack this for a moment because I see folks on Reddit baffled about why Cori Bush lost and I’m banned there so getting it out here.

I feel like there’s a big disconnect between national commentators like Hasan and MikefromPA and locals in St. Louis. Bush - whether it’s fair or unfair - has a major reputation in St. Louis. I guess the best way to say it is… folks in her district see her as a grifter. The faith healing stuff, tornado relief funds, hiring her husband on the campaign, that controversy with her security team when she was in congress. I’ve given up trying to figure how much of it is true, but that doesn’t really matter; people in St. Louis believe it’s true. Even people that like her politics think she’s sus. And Wesley Bell, outside of the Israel/AIPAC stuff, is generally well aligned with voters in MO-1. He’s affable and seen as professional and reliable. American voters and Dem voters in particular are turning on Israel, but I would also caution against assuming it’s Dem voters top priority.

St. Louis DSA needs to get someone else other than Cori Bush. I don’t think she has any political future in St. Louis.

But in more positive news, amendments 4 and 5 are getting stomped, like the “no” votes are putting up Assad numbers. Amendment 4 would have eliminated income taxes and replaced them with sales taxes, and 5 would have eliminated the ability for the people to vote on constitutional amendments and pass with a simple majority (which is good in MO, because when it comes down to individual issues MO voters are to the left of Dem politicians)

Edit: to clarify, not only would amendment 5 stopped voters from being able to amend the constitution, but the GOP-dominated legislature would also get the ability to amend the constitution by a simple majority. So for example, while abortion is currently legal the legislature would have banned it day one had amendment 5 passed.

I don't think this is true. She has some beliefs that are out there from where I'm sitting, but I'm guessing they're pretty common where she is, but the business claim seems to be false. Looks like someone fell for an AIPAC funded campaign set on de-legitimizing Bush. Sure maybe she's burned now and DSA needs to run someone else, but lets put the blame where it belongs.

That’s why I said that whether it’s true or not, locals typically believe it’s true, and that affects the vote results. The problem is even if the faith healing part isn’t true or is mostly untrue, there are other factors that either cannot be explained away (like her absentee record in congress or hiring her husband for her campaign) and she has not done a good job of providing answers.

I don’t have many rules for these candidates and really couldn’t care less if they call themselves Socialists or not. Protect leftists from getting murdered, don’t rip into AES, and stop funding the military/be anti zionist anti imperialist . Outside of that have some progressive agenda and I’m good. They ain’t bringing in the change we want regardless. That’s on us to organize.

You're right but it's still a pretty big gulf at the moment, and I don't see people online saying that he needs to be any farther ahead with regards to the order of votes being counted. It did go from like 5.5 to 3.5 so far

No it's not , shoving $50 or $60 million dollars into a campaign to defeat a primary candidate is not support. And it's obvious it's not support because if Stevens had won there's no more reason for AIPAC to keep shoving money into her campaign and they wouldn't have because it's not in their interest since there's no difference between her and a Republican on Israel.

electoralism can do small but significant things
they'll probably just get fed up and start blasting us
political work is seen by most people as one of only two ways to demonstrate an ability to lead a society. The other is being a capitalist.

there's value in demonstrating that you already tried the nice way. They did this in Russia for example

I'm with you and would add that if they start blasting us (let's say figuratively for now, ideally not literally), then a lot of people are gonna feel cornered and jump to a revolutionary tendency.

It's one of the contradictions of DemSoc thinking (I have multiple frames of mind and this is just one of them), but if the DemSoc movement is successful in its aims does that rule out revolutionary activity? Does an alternative path to building socialism exist that doesnt require a revolution? Idk
