One time a actual professor of history said something to me like, "If you read just a little bit about the Israel-Palestine conflict, you'll sympathize with Israel. If you read a bit more, you'll come to sympathize with Palestine. If you get to a level of expertise you'll come to realize there's no simple solution and it's too complex of a situation to even understand."

Yeah fuck that, free Palestine.

if you read just a little bit, you'll sympathize with Palestine. If you read a bit more, you'll support the Palestinian resistance. If you get to a level of expertise you'll come to realize حماس المجد بتلالي وتعلي الراية الخضرة الراية في السما عالي حماس المجد يا ثورة

This is kind of a litmus test for me if I'm going to get along with someone. Like, can you just condemn a bad thing, please? If your intellectual masturbation gets you to the point of going "well, it's complicated" after seeing the amount of death and destruction with your own eyes, then someone needs to burn every book you own and take away your computer.

Chinese Buddhists back in the day thought people were getting their heads too high in the clouds, so encouraged reading less and doing more to the point of burning their own texts and idols.

I just wonder if having a billion dollars does that to people or if only people like that are the ones willing to do what it takes to get a billion dollars.

It's funny to think reeving a billion dollars is like the zombie bite for becoming a nazi paedophile. I know there's more to it than that but the thought you just have billions dumped in your lap like Notch means it's just a matter of time

Not to get into theology but hat you just said is how I feel about Matthew 19 from the Bible. It's the story where a young man from a wealthy family is begging Jesus to become a new disciple. Jesus gives him a bunch of tasks, like respect his family, keep the sabbath, stuff like that. Jesus's final task is the young man has to sell all his possessions and give the money to the poor. The wealthy young man refuses and walks away in shame. That's when Jesus says the famous line, "It's easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter heaven."

To me this story is a very obvious condemnation of wealth and how it eats your soul. The rich young man was able to follow Christ's orders right until the point of personal sacrifice. And I keep being told by evangelicals that what Christ meant is that only some rich people go to heaven. Yet that's not the story at all. Jesus is saying a prerequisite of entering heaven is that a rich person must abandon their wealth. They have to stop being rich, because being rich is a parasite on their soul that must be removed for them to regain humanity.

Ol' Jeezy C had it right back in the day. Once you have heaps of money you could just go around helping people and still live off the interest. How much more do you need after that? But for some people it's never enough.

Probably a mix of both, but definitely think that our society rewards anti-social behaviors when you go big on them, and also if your desire is to be a nazi pedo, the safest way to achieve your dream is to pursue vast power so that no one can hold you accountable…. I think the basic might makes right foundation of right thinking selects for this also.

Grey morality is nice for stories. It categorically does not exist in real life. The people you meet on a daily basis are not "morally gray". They're generally decent but flawed individuals, or they're just straight up selfish greedy callous bastards. You never encounter someone who straddles the line between "good" and "evil". The idea that there are people who do bad things for good reasons or good things for bad reasons has been sensationalized by media when the truth is most people are never put in situations where we're required to do either.

When people act with cruelty or malice, sorry to say, there often isn't a deeper reason for it. The bully picking on you at school doesn't have a secret traumatic backstory, it just makes him feel big and powerful picking on someone with less power to fight back, and he has a compulsive need to feel big and powerful. Could there possibly be a psychological reason for the for that that ties back to his home life, possibly, are you obligated to give a shit, absolutely not. And that is the underlying psychological failing of every evil bastard that has ever existed, from the schoolyard bully robbing you for fun to the Internet gangstalker doxxing some woman to your landlord destroying your life over six hundred dollars to the autocratic dictator committing a genocide. The main fundamental difference between all of these people is only how much power they have, and directly how how much damage they can cause. It's still the same mental deficiency at the end of the day. It's the difference between a stick of dynamite and a nuke. Explosions are explosions.

Say what you will about CD Call/Lily Orchard, but I was nodding along to that whole video.

And to add onto that quote: Adolf Hitler was a guy. He didn’t fall out of the ether, he was a guy with views not too unpopular at the time.

Lily Orchard wrote a pedophilia apologia fanfic and groomed an underage fan. You do not, under any circumstances, have to hand it to her.

[insert some kinda drawing of Alexander chopping through the gordian knot of liberal moralism with a sickle or something and there are a LOT of labels, because this is proper political art. There's a bird in the background labelled "unscrupulous crows" and it isn't clear what that means. There's a sicko laughing in Phrygian.]

On the one hand nazi pedophiles are causing untold misery to innocents but on the other hand getting rid of them might pave the way for moderate social democratic reforms so who can really say whether they are bad or not?

The genocide of share holder value will be our undoing.

[-] ClimateStalin@hexbear.net 38 points 13 hours ago

Yeah it’s been crazy to learn as an adult that already had a complex view of the world that actually no, my enemies are ontologically evil and there are no actions against them that are wrong.

[-] dead@hexbear.net 8 points 11 hours ago

I interpret "good guys and bad guys aren't real" to mean that good/bad are subjective to the individual.

Republicans are Nazi pedophiles because of Epstein, ICE, etc.

But also Republicans say that Democrats and "The Left" are nazi pedophiles. Republicans believe that being a Nazi means that you don't like Israel, the Zionist entity. Also Republicans say that "antifa are the real fascists". Republicans say that all LGBT are pedophiles. In the perspective of the American Right, an anti-Zionist LGBT person is the 'nazi pedophile'.

You could copy/paste your post into a right wing space and I think most right wingers there would still agree with it. Not because the post is wrong, but because the post is universal.

From the socialist perspective, the proletariat is the 'good guy'. From the bourgeois perspective, they say that bourgeois are 'job creators', 'philanthropists', etc.

Every single person believes that whatever they themselves do is 'good' and anyone who opposes is 'bad'.
