It's about reaffirming an "us vs them" mentality. The propaganda itself isn't "bus bad" it is "This woman who doesn't know her place is ruining your life for her own benefit."
Being ignorant and already inclined to dislike change of this nature does the job such that the propagandizing is merely needed to 'paint the target'

Big difference, Katie Wilson was not endorsed by Seattle DSA, in fact her supporters (as well as supporters of Kshama Sawant, using a similar tactic) had to be called in for entryism. Seattle DSA is far from perfect but they know what's going down in their own city, and have among their membership numerous dedicated socialists and organizers.
Check out the mayor of Dayton, OH, if you want another example of an actual, not just expressed, democratic socialist. Y'all need to be looking up Shenice Turner-Sloss.

In the UK, the Daily Mail is known as the Daily Hate. This is a typical headline. Readers (I use the term loosely) feel informed by the headline then interpret content accordingly.
Outside of the US, buses, trains, trams, cycle lanes move far more people, far more often. US citizens struggling with car ownership, this is the only way to exercise their freedoms of movement.
