I swear those things are always half empty and the coffee is lukewarm at best!

The big pot things are always hot.

Saying this out loud sounds like the start of a Mighty Boosh crimp.

The big brewers are fun. I worked a dead end job and I hated using all the chemicals so I’d brew a pot of scalding water and use it to clean all kinds of shit, especially sugar. The coffee station was always a mess, people are animals, cream and sugar all over, gooey sweetener hardening to concrete. Slap a soaking towel full of hot water on there and let it sit 3 minutes and it all melts away. It’s not just a coffee station. It’s a big mean heat machine and it can turn virgin tap water into Chad Cleaning Water

They vibe but they also burn the coffee on the bottom giving the whole coffee a bad bitter taste.

[-] ConcreteHalloween@hexbear.net 2 points 23 hours ago

You mean a good bitter taste right?

The newer industrial coffee makers drip directly into insulated pots which are like the worst of both worlds. Even harder to clean and does a worse job of keeping the coffee hot.

The thermo-carafes are meant to be a huge version of that. They get filled directly from even bigger coffee machines. They're actually better but only if you're dealing with a high volume of coffee dispensing.

At work we have a bunch of options but my favorite is a big ass thing that probably holds 2 gallons of drip like you said, straight into a huge insulated thermos like they have at Panera. our facilities guy brews it so strong it's like tar. I have to water it down.

So much better than that Keurig bullshit

I'm not content with coffee unless I can scald my mouth and taste nothing afterwards for half the day, as the good lord intended.

I know what you’re talking about and I agree. Those big old coffee stations are probably super energy inefficient but that def do keep the coffee hot.

One is a thermos and the other has a heating functions, so yeah?

OP is talking about these industrial coffee makers that have warmers on the top for pots

[-] ConcreteHalloween@hexbear.net 10 points 1 day ago

Yes, you know the coffee is good when there's a depressed looking construction worker standing in front of it.

We had one of these in the rehab I was at and can confirm, it makes a good cup of Joe.

You know it's going to be a good diner when its one of these bad boys:

[-] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 5 points 1 day ago

I wish I had the spending cash, there's a diner within walking distance of me and I'd love to go down and get something good and some coffee from one of these.

[-] GrouchyGrouse@hexbear.net 4 points 1 day ago

Yes! With the faux wood paneling, straight from my memories I can smell this picture

[-] StillNoLeftLeft@hexbear.net 3 points 1 day ago

The coffee won't be right if there are no coins on the hotplate.
