Florida is wasted on the Floridans.

I want to vibe on a nice beach and visit the everglades and see manatees, but no it has to be CHUD California.

croc-pog <- This man deserves better neighbors.

2°F here

86°F there

Why can't there be a place where it's just a nice 60°F year-round?

[-] miz@hexbear.net 12 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Kaua'i stays in a remarkably tight range centered on 22° C to 24° C year-round but also has America's highest median home prices

Isn’t that Larry Ellison’s island?

[-] miz@hexbear.net 10 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Larry Ellison owns Lāna'i and he has dumped 500 million into a failed agricultural startup there

Ty for the correction. Lazy morning posting

[-] miz@hexbear.net 7 points 1 month ago

I made some lazy morning posts when I woke up and now I have to double down on hating America. it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make

[-] microfiche@hexbear.net 12 points 1 month ago

I thought that was Californy but maybe I'm mistaken.

True only within 3-15 miles of the coast and in other select microclimates. otherwise you're getting sweltering summers and entire seasons between sprinklings of rain

[-] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 8 points 1 month ago

only part of it.

Fossil fuel magnates?

[-] goferking0@lemmy.sdf.org 4 points 1 month ago

San Francisco is close to that but it's a cold and windy ~60f

[-] NephewAlphaBravo@hexbear.net 28 points 1 month ago

willing a giant thermal stress fracture into existence that sends them into the ocean

Gonna shamelessly plug my ongoing podcast series about the specific hellscape of FL and the history that led there!

All the FL eps should be free to listen

Me: I'm not worried when the bands come around, I'm from the North.

Canada, Russia, Alaska, the polar bears, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Michigan, literally any state colder than MA annually:

[-] miz@hexbear.net 19 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

of course they're using imperial but look how the burgerbrains don't even indicate which units are being used

EDIT: not saying like on every place on the graphic, but it needs a legend somewhere

[-] Posadas@hexbear.net 41 points 1 month ago

Anything to not use metric

[-] miz@hexbear.net 15 points 1 month ago

tell me more about this Cis Teen Chapel Experience

[-] SpookyBogMonster@lemmy.ml 11 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

I think that's called Catholic school.

Or perhaps, The Craft (1996)

[-] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 10 points 1 month ago

It's the only place to see the image of Teen Jesus or Teenjus

[-] microfiche@hexbear.net 31 points 1 month ago

It's local news in a US based locale. I mean come on.

[-] miz@hexbear.net 7 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

yeah it's in the US, that's why it's sloppy and doesn't meet standards. cheaper to hire a used car salesman instead of a meteorologist with a science education

[-] microfiche@hexbear.net 17 points 1 month ago

Because that doesn't happen in places where they use C.

👍

[-] Soot@hexbear.net 14 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

The temptation for delicious America hate is strong, but yeah this is absolutely fair. Units are pretty much always assumed everywhere.

[-] miz@hexbear.net 10 points 1 month ago

my science education said to always show your units and I took that personally

[-] miz@hexbear.net 5 points 1 month ago

it happens more in the US

[-] SuperZutsuki@hexbear.net 6 points 1 month ago

In 50 years we'll have the same map but in Celsius

[-] miz@hexbear.net 4 points 1 month ago

and that makes it even more important to label your units!

this-is-fine

[-] LaughingLion@hexbear.net 12 points 1 month ago

its so warm and veiny

[-] mrfugu@hexbear.net 11 points 1 month ago
[-] CarmineCatboy2@hexbear.net 11 points 1 month ago

21 degrees celsius

That's a cold morning.

[-] infuziSporg@hexbear.net 10 points 1 month ago

Do you want to create Ymir?

Because this is how you create Ymir.

Looking at this map I'm realizing maybe the weather actually isn't actually that bad here in Atlanta

[-] optissima@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

The floors in my rental are ~~41ᵒ~~ 25.2ᵒ F :(

[-] whiskers165@hexbear.net 6 points 1 month ago

Damb that sounds bad. Do you have anywhere warmer to go if it gets much worse? That sounds borderline unsafe

I'm in EAV although I don't know much help I could be. Im in the middle of a mold remediation in a 1100 sqft little house. My kitchen is disassembled a bunch of my floor plan is in containment, boxes of stuff crammed everywhere just chaotic

If you're close to me and in danger of freezing please feel free to DM me and Ill see what I can do to help

[-] optissima@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 month ago

I super appreciate it, but I am north of Charlotte on the map (I don't feel much more comfortable saying more on here). Our bedroom, which is upstairs and has 3 people in it, will probably be warm enough tonight. I am worried about Monday night being subzero though and have contacted friends to try to setup up something (assuming we can drive at all)

[-] whiskers165@hexbear.net 5 points 1 month ago

Ahhh yeah you're unfortunately a bit far for me to be of any assistance here in ATL but I sincerely hope you are able to stay with your friends if the temperature gets dangerous for you.

If you feel like you're in trouble and you exhausted all your other options feel free to DM me and I'll try my best for you

its like someone camping in the cold is leaning their cold ass over to take a hot dump (FL).

florida isn't a peepee. it's a poopoo being squeezed out of the deep southern butt.
