Analysis and images of the parades is all over the internet and in the last megathread; for the China-India stuff I recommend this article, as well as the Tricontinental in general.

Image is from @[email protected]'s comment in the last megathread.

Last week was the 80th anniversary of the end of World War 2, and on such an occasion, China put on quite an impressive military parade, especially in comparison to the rather drab and corporate parade that the USA recently had. In attendance were many world leaders, including Putin, Kim Jong Un, and a very happy-looking Lukashenko.

This took place shortly after the SCO summit in Tianjin, in which Modi was notably in attendance. That one of the world's most powerful fascists was in attendance in China near the anniversary of the World Antifascist War is obviously pretty ironic. Regardless, the mood was still relatively positive; for example, Xi announced the acceleration of the creation of the SCO development bank, and Indian-Chinese relations are once again in the thaw cycle of their long-term cyclical pattern, with direct flights resumed and links expanded. The fact that there is this much projected optimism from China about a Global South which is being increasingly tariffed, infiltrated, starved, looted, bombed, invaded, and massacred in the hundreds of thousands by rabid imperialist dogs is perhaps a little tone-deaf, but buoying up the SCO is better than doing nothing at all, I suppose.

Any astute Geopolitics Understander can tell you that this is certainly not India joining the side of the Global South, but instead a move somewhat forced upon them as they seek to balance both sides for their own gain. As Trump amps up pressure on India via tariffs, it is natural that India would seek leverage, and there is much that India gains: industrial development, increased intra-regional trade, and scientific knowledge from a China which has, in numerous fields, now pulled ahead of the USA. India is also facing numerous internal crises, ranging from run-of-the-mill capitalist incompetence and corruption, to worsening conditions for farmers, to the ravaging impacts of climate change, and increasing their links with China is a way to vent off a little of that pressure and protect Modi's regime.

It was posted about already but the DHS released a statement about the man killed by ICE in Chicago. I've been following local reporters on bluesky covering the incident and haven't seen much confirmed, just police and federal statements. As reported on by yahoo news:

ICE agent kills undocumented migrant in Chicago; agent severely injured

Article

Sept. 12 (UPI) -- A man in Chicago was shot and killed by an Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agent after the man allegedly hit an agent with his car.

Silverio Villegas-Gonzalez was stopped by ICE, according to a press release from the Department of Homeland Security. He was an undocumented immigrant and had a history of reckless driving, the release said.

Villegas-Gonzalez allegedly resisted arrest and hit an agent with his car, dragging him down the street.

The agent, "fearing for his own life," shot Villegas-Gonzalez, DHS said.

Villegas-Gonzalez and the unnamed agent were taken to the hospital, and Villegas-Gonzalez was pronounced dead. The officer is stable but has suffered severe injuries, DHS said.

The incident happened in Franklin Park, about 15 miles west of downtown.

"We are praying for the speedy recovery of our law enforcement officer. He followed his training, used appropriate force, and properly enforced the law to protect the public and law enforcement," Tricia McLaughlin, Homeland Security assistant secretary, said in a press release. "Viral social media videos and activists encouraging illegal aliens to resist law enforcement not only spread misinformation, but also undermine public safety, as well as the safety of our officers and those being apprehended."

By one estimate, Meta, Amazon, Microsoft, Google, and Tesla will by the end of this year have collectively spent $560 billion on AI-related capital expenditures since the beginning of 2024 and have brought in just $35 billion in AI-related revenue.

There is a large new propaganda effort developing against China involving a leak of 500gb of data from 2 organisations MESA Labs and Geedge Networks. The primary source is: https://archive.ph/0ZHKt

The framing is essentially "China is exporting the Great Firewall to other countries they're ebil blah blah blah".

Expecting to see this everywhere shortly. They're going to have to take some time trawling through the data to find things to do propaganda with though, and it's all in Chinese obviously which slows them down.

EDIT: The companies involved look like private companies to me, so if I had to guess this would be more to do with private competition between surveillance companies. Someone like Peter Thiel being mad that Palantir has international competition from a Chinese company perhaps? Speculating.

The fact that they're private companies does not stop the propaganda effort pinning this on the Chinese state, as usual.

The new Epstein files release by the House Oversight Committee is wild.

It contains 4 documents, labeled #1, #2, #4, #8.

Document #1 is Epstein's 50th birthday book. It has 248 pages. Women and children in photos are censored by a black bar. It contains some pretty clear references to child abuse. It contains letters from Trump, Bill Clinton, Alan Dershowitz.

Document #2 is Epstein's last will and testament.

Document #4 is Epstein's 2007 non-prosecution agreement.

Document #8 is Epstein's address/phone book. It is labeled as "Epstein's Black Book" in the subpoena. It looks to be uncensored. Trump's name is circled in the book. Ehud Barak is circled. Alan Dershowitz is circled. A few other names as well.

The birthday book is definitely a new release. I am unsure if the other documents were already publicly available.

a more substantial article on nakedcapitalism on european militarization, austerity, and the shift from fever dream balkanization of russia via shipment of arms to their ukrainian proxy towards domestic crackdown with the same military assets.

https://www.nakedcapitalism.com/2025/09/is-europe-preparing-for-war-against-russia-or-against-own-populations.html

The money graph:

[Protests in western European capitals] might look like child’s play once the current European leadership is finished decimating national economies with endless self-destructive decisions all stemming from a ruling class dream to balkanize Russia. In the name of that goal, they have replaced cheap and affordable energy with the expensive kind, killed industry, engaged in economic warfare with much of the rest of the world in a failed bid to isolate Moscow, and become completely beholden to American vultures.

I think that connecting the dots between proxy dreams, militarization, austerity, and domestic crackdowns is very important for the actual left.

Brazil considers developing nuclear capabilities for defense, minister reveals - Xinhua Spanish

Article

RIO DE JANEIRO, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) — Brazil is considering developing nuclear capabilities for its defense “if the world continues as it is,” Minister of Mines and Energy Alexandre Silveira revealed on Friday.

“We are experiencing very serious international upheavals, especially in recent times. Although this is controversial, a country that is giant by its very nature, which has 11 percent of the planet's fresh water, a tropical climate, fertile soil, and so many mineral riches, must take the nuclear issue seriously, because in the future we will also need it for national defense,” the official said at an official event in Rio de Janeiro.

Silveira recalled that the Brazilian Constitution currently prohibits the use of nuclear technology for military purposes, allowing it only for power generation and medicine, but he said the issue should be discussed in the long term.

In a subsequent interview, the minister insisted that the debate on the use of nuclear energy for defense purposes, including warfare, is inevitable.

“It is a fact that the world is moving toward the sad necessity of developing defense instruments. I am absolutely convinced that the country's public officials, especially the National Congress, will have to review the current position,” he said.

The minister also pointed out that Brazil is one of the few countries that has mastered the entire nuclear cycle and possesses one of the largest uranium reserves in the world.

“We have to rethink the use of this technology, including for defense purposes,” said the minister.

According to Silveira, Brazil's current president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, has managed to maintain the country's sovereignty, but the international situation requires strategic reflection on the role of nuclear energy in the future.

Israel is currently under attack by a swarm of one way attack drones from Yemen. Attempts to intercept the drones are still ongoing, and there was an impact near Ramon airport, either the drone fell slightly short or partial interception. Yesterday a drone directly hit the airport terminal. There have been over a dozen "Hostile aircraft intrusion" alerts this afternoon in Israel. No ballistic missiles so far, a change of strategy.

Hadn't seen this here yet, I think it is newsworthy. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/moderna-falls-trump-officials-tie-155222738.html

(Bloomberg) -- Vaccine makers’ shares fell after a report that Trump health officials plan to link Covid shots to the deaths of around two dozen children in a presentation to advisers to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention next week.

The Washington Post reported Friday that a group of health officials appear to have used the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System, or VAERS, to tie the deaths of 25 children to Covid vaccines. A high-profile advisory committee that Kennedy revamped to include vaccine critics is scheduled to discuss the shots from companies including Pfizer Inc., Moderna Inc. and BioNTech SE at its meeting next week.

spoiler

Moderna shares dropped as much as 8.7% during trading in New York Friday. Pfizer shares fell as much as 3.6%. BioNTech’s US-traded shares sank as much as 14%.

Covid vaccines have become a political flash point in recent weeks as conflict between Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and former CDC director Susan Monarez led to her ouster just weeks into her job. Kennedy has previously claimed that the shots crafted during President Donald Trump’s first administration — largely credited with saving millions of lives during the pandemic — cause deadly complications, despite rigorous studies involving millions of people that found serious side effects are rare.

VAERS collects copious amounts of unfiltered data in an effort to detect early signs of side effects. Reports can be submitted by anyone and no effort is made to verify the details or prevent duplication, a format that scientific researchers said makes it difficult to draw clear conclusions.

“FDA and CDC staff routinely analyze VAERS and other safety monitoring data, and those reviews are being shared publicly through the established ACIP process,” HHS spokesperson Andrew Nixon said, referring to the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices.

Pfizer could not immediately be reached for comment. BioNTech did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

In a statement, Moderna said the safety of its Covid vaccine, Spikevax, is “rigorously monitored” by the company, the FDA and regulators in more than 90 countries. Safety monitoring systems have not identified any new or undisclosed safety concerns in children or in pregnant women, the company said, adding that research “continues to demonstrate a favorable risk–benefit profile for Spikevax.”

A 2022 Lancet study of heart inflammation in adolescents and young adults who received messenger RNA Covid-19 vaccines found no known deaths, with most patients recovering within 90 days.

The Data System

The Food and Drug Administration had already indicated it was investigating reports of children dying due to the Covid vaccine.

“There have been children that have died from the Covid vaccine,” FDA Commissioner Marty Makary said in an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper earlier this month. “We’re doing a proper investigation. We’re going to release a report in the coming few weeks.”

Patients, health-care providers, caregivers and companies are encouraged to notify the agency about adverse events following immunization, “even if they are not sure the vaccine caused the problem,” according to the CDC, which manages the VAERS database with the FDA.

Yet VAERS warns that some of these reports “represent true vaccine reactions and others are coincidental adverse health events and not related to vaccination,” according to its fact sheet. “Overall, a causal relationship cannot be established using information from VAERS report alone.”

For 2021 alone, there were more than 11,000 reports of deaths. While many mentioned Covid shots, it’s impossible to know from the database alone if they stemmed from the shots. Many of the submissions detailed “breakthrough” Covid infections, the ones that happened after a patient was vaccinated. This makes it possible that the virus — not the shot — was deadly.

Even Kennedy has raised concerns about the system’s reliability. “It’s outrageous that we don’t have a surveillance system that functions,” he said at an event in Indiana in April.

Kennedy has long said that the government should focus more on vaccine injuries. Before taking office, he made money connecting people with claims of vaccine harm to a law firm that sued manufacturers. More recently, his allies in Congress have hosted hearings featuring people who said their family members experienced vaccine injuries.

The Washington Post report came as the as the CDC reported that Covid hospitalization rates are peaking nationwide. The virus has contributed to more than 15,000 deaths in 2025 through the first week of September, according to the agency.

--With assistance from Madison Muller, John Tozzi, Anna Edney, Michelle Fay Cortez and Phil Kuntz.

Bruh they are trying to kill us. Also without looking up any of the cranks RFK Jr has brought into the CDC, I am getting the vibe that these must be people who really believe their own line of BS.

“There will never be a Palestinian state,” Netanyahu says as he allows settlement expansion in the West Bank

Two days ago, Israel ordered a mass evacuation of the largest city in the Gaza Strip, causing panic and outrage among residents. Israel is preparing a large-scale ground operation against the terrorist group Hamas in the area. “We will fulfill our promise: there will never be a Palestinian state; this place belongs to us. We will protect our heritage, our land, and our security,” Netanyahu declared during the event in Maale Adumim, an Israeli settlement east of Jerusalem.

The Israeli prime minister was accompanied by nationalist members of his coalition, including far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who in August said that a Palestinian state “is being erased from the table, not with slogans, but with actions.”

Dubai Airshow nixes Israel attendance over bombing in Qatar

The participation of Israeli government and defense-industry officials in the November Dubai Air Show in the United Arab Emirates has come into question after event organizers banned them from the show, Israeli defense industry officials confirmed to Defense News at the DSEI expo in London on Wednesday.

more

According to Israeli companies, the official reason given was related to security concerns. The organizers’ move became public a day after Israel carried out an air strike targeting Hamas negotiators in an attack in Doha on Tuesday.

The Dubai Airshow is one of the largest aerospace exhibitions in the Middle East that takes place every two years. Israeli defense companies left open the possibility of attending the event in hopes that the situation would change in the coming weeks. Qatari officers present on the DSEI show floor told Defense News they were “very angry” following the news of Israel’s attack on their country’s capital and that it was “upsetting” to think that Israeli weapon makers were on the floor near them at the exhibition.

Since normalizing ties in 2020, the UAE and Israel have deepened their defense cooperation in several fields. The following year was marked by several major defense projects inked between the two nations. Elbit Systems opened its first office in the UAE; the state-owned firm IAI and Emirati defense conglomerate Edge Group signed a contract to develop an unmanned surface vessel together; and Rafael formed a joint venture with the UAE-based G42 group in 2021 to develop artificial-intelligence and big-data technologies. In 2024, IAI and Edge Group also signed an agreement to establish a center in the UAE to maintain and market the Israeli company’s advanced electro-optic arrays.

S. Korea's entire media establishment across political spectrum has united in unprecedented editorial consensus expressing profound betrayal, outrage, national humiliation, and fundamental breach of US-ROK alliance re: mass arrest of Korean workers at Hyundai's Georgia plant. The general sentiment: while Korean media occasionally unite on domestic issues, these are usually severely politicised. Here, the level of scorn spanning from conservative establishment to progressive outlets is extraordinarily rare. They are furious.

more

  • Chosun Ilbo (flagship conservative): Scathing language calling this a "merciless arrest operation" that represents something "that cannot happen between allies" and a "breach of trust." Notes Trump personally thanked Hyundai's chairman just months ago. Chosun calls the situation "bewildering" and emphasises the contradiction: Trump pressures Korean companies to invest while simultaneously arresting their workers. The editorial questions whether American investment promises survive across different administrations.
  • Dong-A Ilbo (conservative): Delivers perhaps the most damning question in its headline: "How are we supposed to build factories?" while noting Korea was "specifically targeted" and describing this as "shocking" behaviour between allies. Dong-A asks "who would invest" under these conditions when Korean workers are treated like a "criminal group." Notes this threatens 17,000+ jobs already created by Korean companies in Georgia. "The Korean government must demand a pledge from the US to prevent recurrence."
  • JoongAng Ilbo (conservative): Calls this an incident that "shook the values and trust of the ROK-US alliance" occurring at the very "site of economic alliance." Describes public being "appalled" at seeing Koreans dragged away in chains and cable ties. JoongAng characterises this as a "show-off style crackdown targeting an allied nation" and "an act that undermines the credibility of the alliance." Suggests this may have been Trump's political theatre ahead of midterm elections.
  • Korea Economic Daily (business): Headlines this as an "absurd arrest of Koreans" incident. "It is hard to understand in terms of common sense why quotas for visas are given to Australia, Singapore and Chile, but not a single visa to Korea." KED notes that "this incident is a significant blow to the ROK-US economic alliance," warning that if this is used as "leverage" in trade negotiations, "it would be a behaviour of betraying the trust of the alliance."
  • Maeil Business Newspaper: Uses headline: "When they told us to build factories, that was one thing... US arrests 300 Korean workers." Calls situation "shocking" and "absurd", notes you cannot supervise trillion-won investments without Korean personnel. Maeil states that it's "ridiculous that they would go after a company that has made a deliberate decision to invest in the US," ending with a simple but blunt message: "an alliance requires courtesy."
  • Seoul Economic Daily (business): Calls this "shocking". "Our citizens' rights must never be violated again," describes the arrest footage as "horrifying". Uses particularly strong language, that the Korean workers were treated like "prisoners of war." "While we do not understand the political motivations of the far-right Republicans in the US in this reckless crackdown, it is also painful to see how our diplomacy failed to recognise a massive operation that had been planned for months."
  • Hankook Ilbo (centrist-conservative): Korean companies "ended up looking like they got hit from behind," warns this threatens "trust between allies" and calls for fundamental visa system reform.
  • Kyunghyang Shinmun (liberal): Calls this "what kind of bolt from the blue incident is this?" and "deeply regrettable" while criticising "treating them like criminals." Questions whether rational businesses would invest in a country behaving this way.
  • Hankyoreh (progressive): Most direct in questioning alliance fundamentals with headline "Is this what you do to an ally?". Describes Koreans feeling "backstabbed" after the Lee-Trump meeting at the White House and accuses US of "duplicitous behaviour."

My 2 cents: In Korea, public humiliation isn't just personal embarrassment, it's an attack on dignity that reverberates through society. The fact that the workers were filmed being shackled and footage was deliberately released by ICE makes it worse. Korea has deep historical memory of being humiliated by foreign powers and the visuals of Koreans in chains being paraded by a foreign power triggers collective memories of subjugation that go beyond this just being "unfair". This is public humiliation of the nation itself.

SOUTH KOREA DISPATCHES PLANE TO BRING BACK WORKERS SEIZED IN U.S. RAID

South Korea is sending a chartered Korean Air Boeing 747 from Incheon to Atlanta to repatriate hundreds of its nationals detained in the U.S. immigration raid on a $4.3 billion Hyundai–LG battery plant in Georgia. About 300 South Koreans were among the 475 arrested in what U.S. officials called the largest-ever single-site enforcement operation. Foreign Minister Cho Hyun is in Washington pressing for assurances that those workers will be allowed re-entry. The raid has rattled Seoul as it finalizes a trade deal with Washington.

Korea has only ever dispatched flights to repatriate its citizens from failing states. This is the first time I’ve seen it happen in a developed nation...

Due to U.S. immigration crackdowns at a Georgia battery plant, Korean companies are withdrawing their workers from the 22 construction sites across the country to avoid similar raids. The issue is compounded by the fact that the U.S. lacks a sufficient number of skilled workers with the capacity to handle these highly specialized jobs at the construction sites

Guess who's going to the hospital again

Supreme Court authorizes Bolsonaro to go to the hospital next Sunday. The former president, who is under house arrest, had requested authorization from the Supreme Court minister to undergo minor surgery to remove skin lesions.

The decision responds to a request from the defense. The lawyers point out that the former president needs to undergo minor surgery to remove skin lesions—one benign and the other still to be sent for biopsy.

According to a medical report sent to the Supreme Court, the procedure will be performed on an outpatient basis, meaning there will be no need for hospitalization and he is expected to be discharged on the same day.

According to the minister, authorization for travel does not mean that the precautionary measures imposed on the former president, such as the use of an electronic ankle bracelet and a ban on accessing social media, have been suspended.

Bolsonaro's defense team must submit to the STF, within 48 hours after the procedure, a detailed certificate of attendance at the hospital, specifying the date and time of each appointment.

Cops remain useless. Charlie Kirk's (alleged) assassin was turned in by his own family. Oof.

F-35B Short Takeoff and Vertical Landing (STOVL) capable 5th generation stealth fighters have been froward deployed to Puerto Rico this weekend, as expected according to previous reports. This is notable as the F-35B can operate off of the USS Iwo Jima amphibious assault ship deployed to the south Carribean near Venezuela as if it's a mini aircraft carrier, if needed. The F-35A and F-35C cannot. The Iwo Jima is currently operating with AV-8B Harrier II Plus aircraft.

Flight tracking data for mid air refueling and support (transport/cargo) flights from Marine Corps Airfield Yuma, to Puerto Rico over the past few days

Pictures were captured over the continental USA of the mid air refueling. Note the drogue attachment on the boom, ruling out the F-35A model, and the smaller wings of the F-35s, ruling out the F-35C model.

Missed this: The F-35Bs were videoed and photographed on arrival to Puerto Rico.

Why deploy F-35s? To guarantee air superiority and air cover for the US Naval and amphibious Marine forces. Venezuela's 2-3 operational F-16s pose no threat to US forces. They lack radar guided missiles, only have short range infrared guided air to air missiles, and their anti surface weaponry consists of unguided gravity bombs. The Harriers with active radar guided air to air missiles (AIM-120C AMRAAM), and the AEGIS equipped destroyers have those covered relatively easily. However, Venezuela's Su-30s could pose a much larger threat. These aircraft have active radar guided R-77-1, and semi active R-27ET air to air missiles, with a range of up to 130km. Along with their Kh-31 supersonic anti ship missiles, the estimated dozen operational Su-30s could pose more of a threat, depending on their state of readiness and operational capability (interviews with Venezuelan pilots are not positive in this regard). Hence the deployment of F-35Bs. On ground based air defence, Venezuela's old Soviet era SAMs and MANPADs would pose little threat to high flying Harriers if airstrikes are to be conducted on Venezuelan soil. However, the S-300VM/SA-23 air defence system poses a serious threat to these aircraft if not destroyed beforehand. F-35Bs could be used to work around this, carrying out airstikes on Venezuelan soil using their stealth capabilities, without the need to destroy the system.
