I don't think Trump was ever going to actually pull out of NATO, but this is definitely an intentional "trick" by the yuros to neuter the fear he stokes when he brings it up.

I should also note Venezuela is not exactly where the US wants it to be. The US wants Venezuela to be developing oil fields at a fevered pace for American profits, and despite all the press releases as far as I know not a single drilling rig has been transported. We also shouldn't be making sweeping declarations without actual information. The American empire is in slow inward collapse and playing the long game may turn out to be the right move.
