I got triple banned for "Abusing" and "pushing".

Can y'all ban them even more times? 😆

[-] [email protected] 48 points 1 month ago

To be honest, it’s pretty funny that you posted something so offensive it got you banned by hexbear.

these people genuinely do not know anything about hexbear at all

[-] [email protected] 17 points 1 month ago

Its really easy to be banned from hexbear, all you have to do is be a misogynist or a transphobe or a racist and so on and so forth. That's not really worth bragging about but to each their own.

[-] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago

I think they mean it's impressive that they got banned here despite their post being on another instance.

Boss babyism. "Even this other thing I've heard is bad/"insane" is incompatible with your badness/insanity. You are very far from the ideal baseline of calm, aloof rationality, i.e. me and the other people with whom I share a common ideology."

It's a comm on that instance to discuss "abuse of power" by mods/admins, in this case the "Hexbears higher ups"

[-] [email protected] 42 points 1 month ago

They're literally posting nazi propaganda. If I was an hexbear admin I would have called in an air strike

[-] [email protected] 40 points 1 month ago

That's mod-level thinking. An admin needs to know that you send a ground team to clean up afterward.

[-] [email protected] 37 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

FWIW it looks like everything on that instance is like, some weird meta-ironic performance art kind of thing? Look at any of the comments for the posts on their funhole comm. They have a glossary of abbreviations that includes "iyntlmadm - if you need to learn more abbreviations/acronyms dm me," they're ironically embracing the corporate aesthetic, etc etc.

What I don't get is where the irony stops, why have a serious news comm? Why did the same user that has posted lots of articles covering the genocide choose to die on the hill of posting this article? Is that ironic too?

[-] [email protected] 30 points 1 month ago

everything on that instance

I don't think so? Not the whole instance for sure. At least I'm being serious unless I put a "/s" tag.

SDF Lemmy is the instance run by SDF.org, which is basically a really old public Unix system. So it's supposed to be general purpose, but there is a meta-ironic culture that's developed here.

[-] [email protected] 18 points 1 month ago

True, but the most active users by far seem to be the ones doing what I described.

[-] [email protected] 21 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

But like my point is that I think the irony stops outside some specific communities. Counterexamples include /c/worldnews, (but /c/news looks like a cesspit controlled by the person this post is about) /c/retrocomputing, /c/BunAlertSystem, /c/music, and /c/amputee.

[-] [email protected] 11 points 1 month ago

Bunny comm is one of my favorites on all of lemmy

[-] [email protected] 12 points 1 month ago

Then block these people qrstuv and Hotzplotzn

[-] [email protected] 10 points 1 month ago

They have a glossary of abbreviations that includes "iyntlmadm - if you need to learn more abbreviations/acronyms dm me," they're ironically embracing the corporate aesthetic, etc etc.

THANK you. Several people commented ISSTHTY and I couldn't figure out what it meant. Weirdos.

[-] [email protected] 11 points 1 month ago

yotlshtihn - you owned those libs so hard that im hard now

yala8imwwssssmty - youre at least an 8 i mean why would someone say something so mean to you

I don't know... don't throw out the baby with the bathwater, some of these might be fire.

[-] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago

"I'm so sorry that Hexbear traumatized you"

[-] [email protected] 24 points 1 month ago

Why don't we have a cry about the mods community 😭

[-] [email protected] 23 points 1 month ago

c/strugglesession is thata way owl-wink

[-] [email protected] 42 points 1 month ago

Lmao all their users are roasting them

[-] [email protected] 37 points 1 month ago

Not just roasting them but roasting them for getting banned from here lmao.

[-] [email protected] 36 points 1 month ago

Even applying liberal principles, he keeps trying to post an opinion piece to the news comm.

[-] [email protected] 34 points 1 month ago

@admins, did you REALLY need to triple ban him?!? Now he's going to be charged with a felony sadness

[-] [email protected] 29 points 1 month ago

Lol this guy has repeatedly posted to the Mod Abuse Hotline comm, just for people to shit on him in the comments. Enjoy drama much??

[-] [email protected] 24 points 1 month ago

keep shooting for deep-nesting buddy... one day you'll succeed.

[-] [email protected] 17 points 1 month ago

Brb posting about hexbears mods victim blaming smh my head

[-] [email protected] 20 points 1 month ago

Also they banned a bunch of people for two weeks for the infractions: using an acronym, incomplete sentences, or using an emoji.

I don't know I do kind of wonder if this is a bizarre bit.

[-] [email protected] 15 points 1 month ago

If this is some kind of meta-ironic bit (qrstuv posts a lot of ironic responses all across that instance), qrstuv you should read Sartre and actually understand the origins of your absurdist sense of humor buddy. You can't even do irony right.

[-] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago

That's my theory atp

[-] [email protected] 19 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

gleefully spreads genocide denial

bans all criticism

is banned for sharing nazi talking points

shocked-pikachu "this is unfair! this is discrimination!" lenin-dont-laugh

e: oh my god but actually

madeline-stare fascinating, now please step right over here

[-] [email protected] 12 points 1 month ago

As his number 1 fan* I’ve got to defend qrstuv’s reputation at least a little bit. I don’t care about him getting banned other than the fact that I’ll need to use an alt on another instance to interact with his memes. Obviously the op-ed he posted is nazi propaganda that doesn’t belong anywhere.

*not actually a fan as in I don’t like and endorse all his content. But I find him and his content very fascinating.

First let me say that qrstuv’s posts and comments are so irony pilled that it’s very difficult to pin down anything he actually believes in. Which confuses basically all of Lemmy, and induces a special kind of rage in libs after failing to bait him which is why I find him so fascinating.

Some of his viewpoints come through via his self crafted memes, especially older ones, but he’ll almost never clarify them. Some of his content is pretty based:

Criticising NATO intervention in Ukraine

Criticising Biden’s support for war crimes in Palestine

Criticising Harris’ campaign message

Harris “I’m talking!” meme

More Harris about Palestine featured by Garfield

AOC heartbroken Yemen isn’t being bombed secretly

Another Garfield gem

qrstuv created the news com after he got banned from some lib news coms for petty reasons like not unconditionally supporting Harris and posting links to sources that are not lib-certified. In his own com he bans people for petty reasons like using abbreviations and emojis. My impression is that his news com is basically a parody on the coms he was banned from.

The mod abuse community has a similar origin in that the creator (dr wesker) was banned from a similar com on another instance and created this one to mostly make joke posts. qrstuv has several posts there that seem very unserious and ironic.

To me the posts you linked read as ironic as well. I don’t know why qrstuv posted the nazi propaganda piece but I doubt it’s because he supports the content after making so many memes that criticise US support for the genocide. Again I don’t want to argue that he shouldn’t be banned for it, he seems to hold none to very little value to the content of lemmy posts in general which doesn’t align with hexbear’s goal to create an online space free of bigotry.

[-] [email protected] 14 points 1 month ago

Yeah I started to catch on that it was all ironic too, but it seems very strange to me to be doing this meta-ironic bit in a news comm???

Anyway, because you're more familiar with this user's content, I'm just gonna take the opportunity to blast you with a tangential question about irony and fascism. In Roderic Day's often-cited-on-Hexbear-(particularly-by-myself) essay Really Existing Fascism, he writes:

Marx, Nietzsche, and the Conscious Pursuit

In our story so far, Nietzsche and the question of symmetries and anti-symmetries between Nietzsche and Marx have sat unattended in the background. Now is the time to bring them to the fore and to explain why I consider them so useful.

Consider how Nietzsche talked about masks:

Every profound spirit needs a mask. Even more, around every profound spirit a mask is continually growing. [53]

Contrast this with the way Marx and Engels publicized their commitments, and encouraged others to do so, in The Communist Manifesto:

The Communists disdain to conceal their views and aims. They openly declare that their ends can be attained only by the forcible overthrow of all existing social conditions. [54] ... In other words, when his antisemitic interlocutors advised Nietzsche to mask racism in his writing, they inadvertently spurred him to find justifications for slavery and elitism that weren’t rooted in the all-too-modern and universalist (and thus unstable, empirically refutable) arguments of “race science.” After all, “race science” is, both historically and logically, a liberal concept. If racial differences turn out not to be inherent, there goes the whole (liberal) argument for white supremacy. Liberal racism still feels the need to justify itself in scientific, i.e. universalist terms. As Nietzsche correctly observed, this is already a capitulation to socialism, which wins more the more people scientifically reason together. To truly condemn socialism, Nietzsche painted the issue of class domination as one of will, aesthetics, “freedom,” and spirit.

Fascists often use irony, wordplay, euphemisms, and dogwhistles to play with truth (Sartre "Never believe the antisemites..." maybe summarizes this sentiment better). Isn't it strange to use the same duplicitous language of irony to try and say something leftist? Ever since reading that essay, I've kind of understood that leftists should strive to, as Marx said, never conceal their views and aims and openly declare exactly how and why those aims should be implemented. The fact that our views and aims aren't shameful is our greatest asset. So I've learned to be very suspicious of people that are so ironic.

[-] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago

I agree with your assessment and personally I wouldn’t call qrstuv a leftist. I don’t think he occupies himself with political ideology and strategy at all and just reacts to what he observes in the way that he, a non-liberal USian, was taught to react to the atrocities that are happening in the world: with heavy doses of irony.

[-] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

I happened to find a perfect example of what I'm talking about WRT fascists hijacking irony. "Current acceptable stance" to me echoes the fascist meme derriding liberals "supporting the current thing." So this person who is playing with someone who isn't in on the joke is either under the impression that the comic is subliminally promoting Nazi imagery, and they're defending it, or they're providing cover for fascists to come hide under the fig leaf of irony.

[-] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

Yeah that comment is really suspicious for sure. My previously beloved funhole community, now that it is gaining more traction, is possibly at the brink of becoming a nazi cesspit. qrstuv has even warned us about it

[-] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

That post was made 2 days after this post so I think they were actually trying to poke fun at the user that had pointed out how it could become a nazi cesspit.

[-] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago

And he is banning everyone pushing back on the post in the news comm he mods.
