I love how racists think that before the 19th century people stayed in ONE place on earth at all times and NEVER moved. The only time humans moved was when the continents were connected by land bridges and then after that they got racist in the 1400s and told Africans no admittance.

travel took an incredibly long time and was super uncomfortable and dangerous, but we have evidence of like neolithic pottery being traded vast distances.

If coconuts can emigrate to Hawai'i on their own, then people can cross the gibraltar strait

people have always moved around for various reasons. and then they fucked.

Yeah, some people have that exploration demon in them, and wanna see the world. People were still people then, just like today.

There are flint tools on Crete that suggest that Neanderthals were sailing on the Mediterranean Sea 130,000 years ago! Which is pretty bonkers.

And travel was sometimes just a necessity, since before mechanised agriculture we were way more vulnerable to periodic changes in climate.

Goods can travel across the entire world through trade without any individual person needing to travel further than the next village. The same applies to genes which is only one of many reasons why it's ridiculous to treat other humans like they are some kind of alien species.

I think my favorite part of the outrage is I don't even know what they are mad about. I haven't met a character yet that wasn't super pasty and christian.

And then all of the characters in power are sort of scumbags. The other day I ran into a noble or something and he was just yelling at his I assume to be wife.

I'd say it's fairly accurate to feudal life

The games really do pay a lot of attention to accuracy - although it's worth noting that some aspects of their portrayal are disputed by some historians. For example the Christianity thing - not that Christianity wasn't a big part of medieval European life, but most peasants in most of Europe only went to church like once or twice a year for the big holidays, so the portrayal in KCD may not be as accurate as it seems at first glance.

Anyway black people and gay people definitely existed in medieval times so in that respect KCD2 is more accurate than the first one.

really they’re mad about nothing. they just get riled up by guys on youtube scream-crying about “FACKIN PROWNOWNS!!!!!”

they get upset just seeing a black person or anyone nonwhite in any type of media.

they act like there has to be some reason or justification for any character that isn’t white or a straight guy. but at the same time, if they did write a story around a minority character’s identity then these same people would cry “why cant the character just quietly be [minority]?!? why do they have to shove it in our face?!?”

[–] [email protected] 32 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Chuds are mad because in the last game the dev said black people never existed in europe until modern times.

And it's great because he tried to appease those smarmy little fucks and now they're baying for his blood

Gamergate: Not Even Once

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Wait but if he tried to appease them there'd be no black characters in this one, right? Not sure I understand. Or is he no longer working at the studio

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 month ago (1 children)

He actively cultivated the GamerGate following for the first game and now it's biting him on the ass when he barely did anything different for this one

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 month ago

Ohh right. Lmao

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

not to sound like a lib but “i never thought the leopards would eat my face”

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

I mean, absolutely

We were saying that when devs started to capitulate or, even worse, court these fucks

Give them an inch, they'll take a mile

Listening to Dr Janega’s podcast how a guy from China who was actually a Nestorian Christian, traveled to Europe and got to meet the Pope, Eastern Roman Emperor, Holy Roman Emperor, King of France before heading home.

Or how Ibn Battuta travelled from Morroco all the way to China via the Maldives. Or famously Mansa Musa travelled from Mali to Mecca causing a financial crisis from giving away too much gold.

Vikings travelled all the way to Constantinople to fight in the Varangian guard. Like people travelled. Non white people would be uncommon but they’d be there especially in bigger cities.

They should make games where every single npc has Henry cavils face. Then they can shut the everloving fuck up

Go woke get stoked?

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 month ago

gamers are going to think that the newest medieval simulator is unrealistic. everyone hates you if you smell like shit.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 month ago

Still need to play the original but the games do look really fun. Also I love the visuals of the cryengine wish it was used more
