PSL

Claudia De la Cruz and Karina Garcia are running for President and Vice-President of the United States on the ticket of the Party for Socialism and Liberation.

Claudia de la Cruz was born and raised in the South Bronx, New York to immigrant Dominican parents. As a teenager, she regularly participated in campaigns calling for an end to the U.S. blockade in Cuba and calling out police terror. While completing her degree in forensic psychology at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, a City University of New York college, de la Cruz helped create Palenque. Palenque was a group focused on bringing together young people to study the history of struggles and resistance by marginalized groups. During the Iraq War, de la Cruz organized some of these members as well as church members to rally against the war. She also helped found Da Urban Butterflies, a youth leadership development project for women from Washington Heights and the Bronx. Later on, de la Cruz co-founded The People’s Forum in New York City, a place dedicated to making space for working-class people. De la Cruz is also a mother and a pastor for the United Church of Christ, a Christian denomination that has historically been involved in social justice work.

Karina Garcia grew up in East Harlem, also known as El Barrio, in New York, as well as California. She attended Columbia University on a full scholarship and organized fellow students to speak out against the U.S. invasion of Iraq and to advocate for immigrant rights. After completing a degree in economics, Garcia became a high school math teacher in New York City. During that time, she advised a student group on issues like police brutality and school budget cuts. In 2012, she took up an organizing position at the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Justice. She is also a mother and writer for Breaking the Chains, a feminist and socialist magazine under the PSL.

The Party for Socialism and Liberation is comprised of leaders and activists, workers and students, of all backgrounds. Organized in branches across the country, their mission is to link the everyday struggles of oppressed and exploited people to the fight for a new world.

The Party for Socialism and Liberation believes that the only solution to the deepening crisis of capitalism is the socialist transformation of society. Driven by an insatiable appetite for ever greater profits regardless of social cost, capitalism is on a collision course with the people of the world and the planet itself. Imperialist war; deepening unemployment and poverty; deteriorating health care, housing and education; racism; discrimination and violence based on gender and sexual orientation; environmental destruction—all are inevitable products of the capitalist system itself.

For the great majority of people in the world, including tens of millions of workers in the United States, conditions of life and work are worsening. There is no prospect that this situation can or will be turned around under the existing system.

The idea that the capitalists’ grip on society and their increasingly repressive state can be abolished through any means other than a revolutionary overturn is an illusion. Equally unrealistic are reformist hopes for a “kinder, gentler” capitalism, or solutions based on economic decentralization or small group autonomy. Meeting the needs of the more than 6.5 billion people who inhabit the planet today is impossible without large-scale agriculture and industry and economic planning.

The fundamental problems confronting humanity today flow from the reality that most of the world’s productive wealth—the product of socialized labor and nature—is privately owned and controlled by a tiny minority. This minority decides what will be produced and what will not. Its decisions are based on making profits rather than meeting human needs.

There are really only two choices for humanity today—an increasingly destructive capitalism, or socialism

Looks like the Democrats failed to build two walls this term.

This election has shown us that the American public just isn't ready for a vice president whose name rhymes with "balls"

If I remember correctly, the most ghoulish shit came in the first year of the first Trump presidency, and a lot of his initial advisors left. I do kinda wonder if this will be the pattern again. No way the Elon and Trump alliance lasts.

I'm in a group chat with a bunch of libs and they DO. NOT. GET. IT.

"What last night made clear is that Americans just hate women"

What the fuck. They're doubling down on everything. Nope, it is the voters who are wrong. The democratic party cannot fail it can only be failed.

They're not going to learn a god damned thing from this. Jesus christ.

For the record, I spent weeks feeling like Trump was going to win. Then, yesterday, I suddenly started feeling like it was going to be Kamala. I thought that the bourgeoisie would want someone more stable. But (in retrospect) capitalism is of course fundamentally unstable, so we're getting instability regardless of who wins. Even if Kamala had made it, things would have continued to fall apart. The difference now is, I think, that some liberals at least will go back to pretending to care about things. Others will cheer on the various genocides the USA is committing everywhere. Some will radicalize permanently and join us. With Trump, we might get American Civil War 2. With Kamala, we would have gotten (more) WW3. But who knows. Trump basically said that he would surrender Ukraine to Russia, but the dude is a fucking liar and a lapdog of the imperialists so yeah, no telling what will happen there.

Trump's first victory devastated lib me. I radicalized within about eighteen months of that. I also have to wonder now if my lib friends and family members, whom I either don't talk with at all or barely talk to, will become friendlier now. I haven't been able to talk with my lib parents specifically for political reasons. There's a chance that we'll be able to mend our relationship, but if they're just going to veer back into liberalism when the Democrats run Cloned Hitler for president in 2028, what's the point?

Thanks to RCV, this year I voted PSL, then Cornel, then the Greens, then nothing. I also wrote in Nasrallah and Sinwar for the federal-level elections. The lady who helped me scan my ballot was the mother of someone I went to high school with. I was worried she would see what I had written.

The amount of blaming “Hispanic” and black men I keep hearing from my liberal relatives (Guatemalan diaspora btw) is disgusting. They really can’t point to anything but racist accusations when things don’t go their way.

That, and the amount of blaming Russia, North Korea, and China for this is astounding.

Libs think they’re incredibly intelligent while saying drivel that isn’t too different from that guy babbling on a street corner.

Azaelia Banks just endorsed Kamala. Her reason is that she feels it's imperative to keep Elon from having any kind of power in government.

I just realized the veiled assumption that there would be “political violence” after the election was assuming that Trump would lose. It’s amazing how many of these guys genuinely didn’t consider that Harris might lose and they still can’t picture reasonable explanations.

If you ever want an example of how "objective" reporting is a scam, check this out

Trump does suck. There are no lies on the cover. But it very obviously has a narrative and a bias. Yet people will look at it and go "wow, how objective, just presenting reality" because it already conforms with their ideology. 5k people looked at this and thought "yeah, that's just objective reporting." There is nothing objective about it. It is impossible to be objective, any depiction of reality requires that the reporter takes a stance from which to view it. Yet this does not even attempt to approach objectivity, there is a very obvious narrative.

On top of all that, there is also the less clear narrative that "felon" = bad. Do they use the word bad? No. But it is still clearly signalled, I hopefully do not have to waste words how context functions.

Millions upon millions are migrating across nations; across genders, too, if we want to admit it. The largest population transfers in human history, surpassing even the Atlantic slave trade. How can it be the same again? Look at the Brooklyn Crown Heights "race riot," where a hasidic Jewish fascist from Israel runs a red light following their chiefs police bodyguard & kills an Afrikan child from Guyana. In retaliation, some 15 year-old Afrikan child from Trinidad allegedly stabs another hasidic man from Australia. Then a few hundred Afrikan youth, many of whom are from Jamaica, stone & attack police, as well as looting stores owned by Arabs, Taiwanese, Koreans and other nationalities. Black children, who have no leaders and are out of history, follow white people on the street chanting "Hitler! Hitler!". Nothing is the same anymore. Like the L.A. riots, which was a New Afrikan thing, only the majority of the looters arrested turned out to be Latinos.

I disabled a copilot feature in databricks because it was SO bad. Normally if your code has an obvious typo it'll just go "this function or variable name is wrong" and you'll fix it. Copilot would suggest changes, usually just fixing your typo, surprisingly often getting it wrong. What's annoying is that you have to accept or reject the change, it takes it longer than it takes me to notice it and start fixing it, so often I will fix the typo, it'll finish thinking, it'll revert my fix and suggest its own. I can't believe that someone though a slow, fancy spellcheck that stops your workflow so you can accept or reject a change was a good idea.

For Agitprop purposes, I’m asking comrades to help aggregate any and all effortpost responses, critiques, or general thoughts that you have seen or written pertaining to yesterday’s U.S. election that you think have standalone value for discussion either online or IRL.

I made a post for that purpose here, and ideally it can be used not only for general discussion, but as a reference for well thought out responses in discussions about the election to save all of us some brainpower.

No shitposts please, as we’d like to highlight some comrades’ actual effort in constructing responses or analysis, but humor is 100% welcome to help make your point!

My amazing Mokey intuition called it. Were fucked for sure.

Dems are to blame. No primary? Put up a senile candidate had him run the office for 3 whole years? Forced on us a fake soulless corporate candidate with no personality? Also a POC Women that hog Americans will never elect and if they ran a primary they would have seen that and her unpopularity. Not to mention all the other obvious stuff

The funniest thing next would be the economy crashing hard. How does Donald Trump handle what I'm anticipating to be the worst recession ever.

We voted last week (PSL), able to do early voting for the first time this year. First time voting for 3rd party for both of us. So I have nothing to do on the 5th. I have the day off (medical appointment) so I can just fuck off for most of the day instead of being stuck at work.

So who certifies the election if the current VP is also the winner? Does the VP confirm their own victory?
