Billionaire money in politics is when Trump does stuff sweetie.

I'm starting to see where the MIC gets the idea of charging $52,000 for a trash receptacle

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 months ago

"It's worth exactly what somebody is willing to pay for it" is a lot easier when the other person let's you know you're going to be getting a blank check every week until the heat death of the universe

[–] [email protected] 11 points 3 months ago (1 children)

How can people think a candidate that charges this much represents the working class?

[–] [email protected] 8 points 3 months ago

Because the other candidate is worth 5 billion

agony-immense

No it's so you get to be her chair to be sat on.

Harris wants you to pay her $25,000 just to be 'friends' who don't even take photos together

Saying it costs $3,300 to be a "guest" is a really great example of how completely out of touch liberals are.

Guest- somebody you invite into your home, feed and host with no expectations of repayment out of kindness

"That'll be a months salary" - dems

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Yeah, I'll be your friend. For a cool 25K.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 months ago (1 children)

"I'll be your friend if you give me your pokemon cards" stopped working on most people around age 6

Liberals are not "most peope"

One time i took home that much on a 2 week cheque with a brutal amount of overtime and the pay structure was such that it was an abnormally long pay period.

I think I'll spend that much to not get my picture taken and not have any privileges for a single digit number of hours of one day

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 months ago

Theres no better intoduction to material analysis than converting costs in to how many hours of labor you would have to exchange for something, and then doing the same thing for your boss and the same product.

"This costs you 40 hours of your labor, it costs your boss 30 hours of your excess profits from your labor."

Donor thunderdome where the survivor gets their donation doubled or something would be metal af.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 months ago

for 45k I'll subcontract out photoshopping you next to her. Hell I'll throw in hiring a religious figure of your nominated faith to chant "by the power of money, you are absolved of wrongdoing".

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 months ago

Champion

I can't stop laughing at that. And because it's twice as much as "Friend" - does that mean it's friend with benefits?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 months ago (4 children)

what's this? You can donate half a million to her? Wasn't there an individual contribution limit of $3300?

[–] [email protected] 7 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, 558 U.S. 310

There's only a limit for private individuals. There's no limit for groups, committees, etc. I'm guessing the Harris victory fund is legally a PAC

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 months ago

ah, there it is yea

[–] [email protected] 7 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

That rule only applies to us poors

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Well yea if you donate as an individual otherwise you could be buying influence.

But donating hundreds of times that much to the "tell Harris what she thinks" PAC thats run by her assistant campaign manager is completely different and constitutionally protected free speech

I love democracy

Harris Victory Fund accepts contributions of up to $926,300 from a person and $410,000 from a multicandidate committee (“PAC”). The first $3,300/$5,000 from a person/PAC will be allocated to Harris for President for the general election. The next $41,300/$15,000 from a person/PAC will be allocated to the DNC. The next $510,000/$255,000 from a person/PAC will be split equally among the Democratic state parties from: AK, AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, DE, FL, GA, HI, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, VT, WA, WI, WV, and WY. Any additional funds will be allocated to the DNC.

A contributor may designate his or her contribution for a particular participant by contacting [email protected]. The allocation formula above may change if following it would result in an excessive contribution. Contributions will be used in connection with federal elections, may be spent on any activity as each committee determines in its sole discretion, and will not be earmarked for any particular candidate. Federal law requires us to use our best efforts to collect and report the name, mailing address, occupation, and name of employer of individuals whose contributions exceed $200 per election cycle. Harris Victory Fund does not accept contributions from corporations or their PACs, unions, federal contractors, national banks, those registered as federal lobbyists or under FARA, SEC-named executives of fossil fuel companies, or foreign nationals.

For the people they're courting, that's just a rounding error on their daily net worth fluctuation.
