The self destroying commitment to "normalcy" is responsible for a lot of bullshit

It feels like there's a kind of consistent through line from liberal "um, by your logic..." debate shit with reactionaries where they think pointing out internal contradictions in itself will accomplish something and change the reactionary into a liberal or whatever and "deboonking" scurrilous libel shit from bigots. Even after their bullshit is debunked, they won't care because the facts and specifics were never the point, they were just convenient ammunition to use, and the bigoted point they wanted to advance was always intended to be crudely used as a cudgel against whatever marginalized group drew their ire. The Sartre bit in Anti-Semite and Jew rings true when applied to any reactionaries.

Bigots don't need accurate data and logical arguments to debunk them, they need to have their vile views viciously mocked, be ostracized from polite society, and when they attempt to organize in public. One punch to the back of the head did way more to make Richard Spencer irrelevant than a thousand think pieces.
