June Jordan, born on this day in 1936, was a queer Jamaican-American author, feminist, and educator whose works include Some of Us Did Not Die and Report From the Bahamas. "Poetry is a political act because it involves telling the truth."

In her writing, Jordan explores issues of gender, race, capitalism, privilege, immigration, and representation. Jordan was passionate about using Black English in both her writing and her classroom, teaching her students to treat Black English as its own language and as an important outlet for expressing Black culture.

As a professor at Berkeley, Jordan founded the "Poetry for the People" program in 1991. Its aim was to inspire and empower students to use poetry as a means of artistic expression.

Although not widely recognized when first published in 1982, Jordan's essay "Report from the Bahamas", has since become an important work in gender studies, sociology, and anthropology.

"Poetry is a political act because it involves telling the truth."

Playing GTA V in anticipation of VI coming sometime in the next decade. At some point you can just have 20 rpgs and 10 homing missiles per character at all time. My deep strategy is shoot rpg at a cluster of characters.

I have successfully utilized my autism in my favor. Running is now turning into a special interest, as a person who always hated running(and still kinda does). I need 1 more day this week to complete week 1 of my 12 week running program, which is 3 days a week of pacing until I can run without stopping.

Watching a compilation Biden debates from 2008 to 2024 and I'll tell ya... if he wasn't a monstrous DC archon, it'd be so sad. Like it was bad enough watching the debate, but comparing that performance to even 2020 let alone 2012 and 2008 is wild. He was so sharp back then. It really compounds my existential dread about the inexorable passage of time. We are all breaking down.

Gonna take a full week off work next week, because i have 33 days stocked up and i need to get rid of some. Gonna lock in and get my game finished, as well as do a bunch of chores around the house like installing ceiling fans and putting up curtains. Gonna feel great to get all of it done

I’ve been seeing more YouTubers covering Moral Orel and it makes me happy to see that. It was one of those shows that deserved more attention than it got.

Of course most of the coverage is “look at how DARK this show is” but at least it gets people to maybe give it a watch.
