Yeah I turned off 'all' so long ago, too many star trek and science memes filled up my front page. They all felt like reddit spillover memes. Plus my blood pressure probably improved not seeing the lib shit on my lib-free (everyone except me is a lib) instance
To be fair, we have a pretty significant spillover from reddit here as well, like at least half of the posts I see on r/TrueAnon or r/ShitLiberalsSay or whatever eventually end up on Hexbear lol

I'm most active on Lemmy.ml, but it looks like that is going to swing back to being more active here for a while. I go back and forth.
I feel like despite these bait posts by banarchsits you still get through to a lot of people across instances. Many of your comments are quite enlightening and I've seen many come around to some form of understanding that what they think socialism/communism is was just bullshit they learned in history class and reddit.

People have thanked me directly for helping them and cited me as one of the reasons why they came around to accepting more Marxist viewpoints, which has helped a lot in motivating me. I do tend to take breaks, though, depending on what I've got going on IRL or if I just need a good break from being so online. I appreciate the kind words!

I agree with LemmeAtEm's take on them, that person seemed like a troll trying to make anarchists look bad. Pretty much everything they said seemed almost deliberately crafted to make their own position as repulsive as possible. People like that quickly get sniffed out on Hexbear, but on an instance like dbzer0, where "hating tankies" is more important than actually engaging with any leftist ideas, people like that can easily ingratiate themselves and push the people there into believing the most stupid (and eventually hateful) things possible.
I enjoyed arguing with them because it really took very little time for them to take on full peasant brain "I do not care about evidence, this is a vibes only zone"

What's really weird, as has been demonstrated in some screenshots, is how they bait post so fucking much but then seem so upset and play victim when people take the bait. They are like a child who acts out for attention by deliberately trying to rile people and then cries when someone yells at them for it.
Edit: Regarding your question, I think they have a personal beef with local communists. iirc they are Greek and view the local communist party as a counterproductive relic of the past.
They certainly come across as trying to use their anarchism to minoritize themselves by talking about persecution from teh tankies as though they have any connection to the anarchists in the Spanish Civil War or other historical incidents. Why? I can't really say.

Yeah even if they have a beef with the local communists for being ineffective that's still a far cry from claiming the local communists will put them in a gulag. I don't believe they really believe that. If they do, that's unhinged. I mean it is true that most European parties with Communist or Marxist in the name are actually more like tepid social democrats and often have very elderly members with perhaps backwards social views. But that's not some intractable aspect of Marxist ideology but rather the result of 20th century anti-communism efforts in Europe. Also austerity, the actual CIA, and European reactionaries stoking up anti-immigrant bigotry among the working class. There are specific historical reasons why we've gotten to this point.
It's purely magical thinking to believe there will be a repeat of the conflict between anarchists and Marxists similar to 1920s post-revoultionary Russia due to...some unspecific differences in political rhetoric or what? It makes no sense. The countries I'd say are poised to have conflict of a socialist character don't have an internal anarchist/Marxist conflict from what I'm aware of. Some examples of places I mean are like: Venezuela, where there are some anarchist communes that collaborate with the broader socialist movement. Burkina Faso, where I'm not aware of any anarchist movement or suppression at all. There's also Niger, Haiti, and Senegal that have recently had unorganized gang-like violence that I personally think resembles class warfare. Again, no specific anarchist/Marxist conflict from where I'm aware.
for the record it's not even dealing with communists in their locality that made them opposed to communists, this is all based on principled ideological opposition.
I honestly don't think they have ever spoken with a communist IRL, and have never engaged with them in good faith, they have only ever heard redditors like "CrunchyItchyAdam88" telling them how evil tankies are and they've just internalised that, and lack the self-awareness to realise that if they act as hostile as possible towards a group of people, of course that group is going to be hostile back.
