Damn, Epstein had a lot of contact with Tom Pritzker, who seems to be the Patriarch of the Pritzker family, which includes JB Pritzker, Governor of Illinois.

Tom's the executive chairman of Hyatt Hotels, and the CEO of The Pritzker Organization. People have testified that he sexually abused them, related to Epstein. He had consistent contact with Epstein for like a decade after Epstein became a convicted pedophile in 2008.

Hop in, comrades, we are reading Capital Volumes I-III this year, and we will every year until Communism is achieved. (Volume IV, often published under the title Theories of Surplus Value, will not be included, but comrades are welcome to set up other bookclubs.) This works out to about 6½ pages a day for a year, 46 pages a week.

I'll post the readings at the start of each week and @mention anybody interested. Let me know if you want to be added or removed.

We are diving into surplus value extraction now. Follow Mr. Moneybags with Marx as our guide as we see where the real heart of exploitation lies.

Week 5, Jan 29-Feb 5, we are reading Volume 1, Chapter 9 and Chapter 10 Sections 1-3

Discuss the week's reading in the comments.

Use any translation/edition you like. Marxists.org has the Moore and Aveling translation in various file formats including epub and PDF: https://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1867-c1/

Ben Fowkes translation, PDF: https://libgen.is/book/index.php?md5=AA342398FDEC44DFA0E732357783FD48

(Unsure about the quality of the Reitter translation, I'd love to see some input on it as it's the newest one)

AernaLingus says: I noticed that the linked copy of the Fowkes translation doesn't have bookmarks, so I took the liberty of adding them myself. You can either download my version with the bookmarks added or if you're a bit paranoid (can't blame ya) and don't mind some light command line work you can use the same simple script that I did with my formatted plaintext bookmarks to take the PDF from libgen and add the bookmarks yourself. Also, please let me know if you spot any errors with the bookmarks so I can fix them!

#FreeIsrael (hexbear.net)

I stand with the only Democracies in the Middle East (PFLP, DFLP, PIJ, and Hamas) against the barbaric Israelites. This whole mess is the fault of places like Saudi Israelia and the United Israeli Emirates, who repeatedly attacked these innocent young Democracies for no reason.

After the IRA and PIRA won, the IDF (Irish Defence Force) has heroically defended the innocent from all threats. No one, from the littlest Israeli hunger striker, to the biggest Israeli terrorist, is safe while Democracy and the Islamic character of the World is at stake. Genocides would never come about Democratically, but if the Israelis get their way and end the Islamic Earth, a multicultural non-apartheid Earth where no-one is a second class citizen would literally be genocide against these Democracies of the Middle East. It would be just like what Stalin did to those poor ethnic Germans.

This is the very first bookclub post, so get to know each other, ask questions about the basic premise, just keep mostly on-topic. This didn't start on January 1st because I want it to start and end on the weekend. @'ing everyone mid-Thursday probably wouldn't have gotten very many readers.

This is Hizaki! He's a really, really hot Visual Kei artist, and he's really good at a number of instruments. He's really a big inspiration for me, sometimes you'll find me wearing outfits I copied straight from him, since he's this incredible in his mid-to-late 40's. Just absolutely wonderful, all around.

Month long megathreads for smaller comms, that are only pinned in the comm, is something I was talking about in the moderator Matrix chat. c/anime already does something similar, so I figured c/fashion could do it too.

If you have any suggestions about how I could change this megathread to make it more fashion related, that would be greatly appreciated (i.e. like how the c/anime megathread is explicitly for suggestions/what you're watching).

I'd also love it if people could make posts that are guides for fashion. I'd pin them in the comm, at least for a while, and if they're good enough I'd try to get it pinned sitewide. We don't have a wiki, so it'd be greatly appreciated. c/fashion doesn't just have to be pictures of fits.

Talk about whatever you want, as long as it's fashion related. There's plenty to talk about that might not warrant a whole post.

I'm curious how many lurkers Hexbear has, we can really only tell the number of active posters from the stats, as far as I understand it.

When you're taking pictures of yourself, don't use a mirror, it'll double the dirt and distort you. Just put your phone on a little tripod (very cheap) at waist level roughly 6 feet away, and use the self-timer. Try not to go any lower, that's how you look like a giant with a chin. Too high above you, and you can look like you have a massive had, and a small body.

Face the light source, not away from it, and diffuse lighting is generally better.

There's loads of posing guides out their, generally just try to get your whole body standing up. Maybe hit THE POSE.

Oops, forgot to hit post when I first finished, no matter.

Woke DEI prison system making people of European heritage in South America White? And male? Crazy.

/uj he's genuinely white, most people in South America are descended from Europeans, he just has a different ethnicity (which, notably, does not change race). But ofc, illegals can't be white males, they aren't like the heroic gamergate masses.

Yeah, the artist should've done something classy and definitely not fascist, like two lightning S's, a Black Sun, or a Wolfsangel. Would really go to show how much he supports Ukraine, who's war is extremely relevant to American local politics. His first act as mayor could be to ban the letter Z from use!

Anti-communist messaging and its consequences have been a disaster for anarchists. Too many people take the label because they recognize that capitalism isn't great, but don't go far enough to see the propaganda the state perpetuates. I desperately wish these "anarchists" would read theory, or join a cool anarchist group, and see the error in their ways.
