It's been proven again and again that the only thing that can guarantee a country's sovereignty is ownership of nuclear weapons (or in specific circumstances an overwhelming conventional deterant like DPRK artillery aimed at Seoul but even that was a stopgap measure). The only way to prevent imperial fuckery in southeast Asia (and elsewhere) is either sponsoring their acquisition of nukes or providing a nuclear umbrella.

Jesus Christ how am I still surprised at the lack of industrial capacity in the west? Making weapons is supposed to be one of the few things they actually make! All that noise about the Storm Shadow wunderwaffe (still suspicious of those initials) back when they were first given to Ukraine and they haven't even made any news ones for a decade and a half!?

I'm no military logistics expert but aren't missiles one of those things you expect to use a lot of in an actual conflict since by their nature they're single use weapons? Wouldn't you want to keep building them, even at a reduced rate of production, just to keep that tooling/skilled workforce/institutional knowledge around?

I, John Brown, am now quite certain that the crimes of this guilty land will never be purged away but with blood. I had, as I now think vainly, flattered myself that without very much bloodshed it might be done.

illegal-to-say we saw how close the Crimer dipshit got and he was just some clueless teen with a rifle anyone in america could get their hands on.

The yamagami approach of just walking up worked vs Abe (and almost worked vs Regan) but I dunno if someone could get that close to the president nowadays.

Those articles they wrote about how they didn't have access to airstrikes to "shape the battlefield", being unable to just call in a medivac helicopter for every stubbed toe, being told to hold a trench to the death instead of going on special operations missions, and otherwise finding out that war is actually dangerous when your opponent can fight back were chefs-kiss
