Every Islamophobia wave has whites cry about suicide bombing as if it's the worst crime imaginable, exactly what's the difference between suicide bombing a bus and air striking that bus? Assholes watch liveleak footage of western helicopters mowing down rows of civilians and are unphased and make movies glorifying it then they give Muslims the stereotype of being the bombers.

Truth is that the west an America never cared about queer rights, they made the Arab leaders strip dance for israel, yet they still permit them to kill gay people.

[-] [email protected] 18 points 1 month ago

fanon and where did that bring you? Back to me

Funny you say that cuz on Lemmygrad they're having a "Wretched of the Earth" reading session.

Labor cannot emancipate itself in the white skin when in the black it is branded.

Latinoamerican tiktok is making fun of the spaniards for their reaction during their big blackout, like they were panic buying essencials, some went to the streets scared that they wont have light again calling it a "historical event" and doomsday posting a lot.

it was really funny, specially since it lasted like 6 hours

[-] [email protected] 18 points 4 weeks ago

So relieved Spaniards destroyed the land of my people, its cultures, and environment only to make infrastructure that doesn't work. Really, I hope it worth the millions of bodies and centuries of oppression 🥰

Many people are saying it, folks!

Too real... and I hate that it's real, but that don't make it any less real

[-] [email protected] 13 points 3 weeks ago

And white trans women are the white women of trans women

[-] [email protected] 10 points 3 weeks ago

Can confirm this TOO much.

[-] [email protected] 11 points 3 weeks ago

You'd think they'd get it, being women, and understand white people treat non-white people the way men treat women. Hahaahahaaa nope! You'll hear all kinds of awful, homophobic, transphobic, racist shit come out of white women's mouths when they think it's safe to do so, just like their male counterparts.

We need an emoji for that hexbear who said something like "whiteness is the black hole all liberalism, reaction, and bigotry orbits."

[-] [email protected] 9 points 3 weeks ago

I find that white marginalized people often have this awful tendency to use their marginalized identity to make themselves total victims while avoiding all accountability for their complicity in white supremacy. I've gotten plenty of shit from white cishet men, of course, but I've also experienced totally disgusting bigotry and reactionary shit from white women, white gay people, white trans people, etc. I literally couldn't say this more strongly: I am Black before anything else.

Have Black people been hateful towards me? Absolutely! No group of people, of course, comprises entirely of perfect saints who are devoid of a capacity for reactionary brainworms. In fact, with that in mind, I don't have a family anymore because of this, but despite that, I'd take being in a room FULL of cishet Black people over being in a tiny circle of white queer people. I'm dead fucking serious.

Several of the people who said the egg prices were too high are funding that racist trash who called an autistic kid the N word and several similar cases talm bout "standing up to these communities". Hows that economic anxiety going? This ain't a surprise. The cop in France who killed the muslim Nahel Merzouk raisraised 1.6 million and it was started by far right politician.

Pretty wild seeing cracker putting "I'm legally here" in their dating profiles.

[-] [email protected] 16 points 1 month ago

I remember pre-BLM when White women used to have in their profiles "I'm not racist but I don't date Blacks or Mexicans, sorry, it's just cultural differences" then years later see the same profile floating around post-BLM and it was missing the disclaimer. Haha

Like Paul Mooney said, I like my crackers a little salty. I prefer they just announce it, not that I'm interested in dating anyone White anyway.

[-] [email protected] 15 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

[CW: Me rambling about this disingenuous 'it's not bigotry—it's just a preference' shit—talking about queerphobia/biphobia/racism]On this note, somewhere else online, I was recently seeing wild amounts of discourse about whether or not it's biphobic for a lesbian to refuse to date a bisexual woman on the basis of her sexuality.

You had so many people myopically spewing out, "it CAN'T BE BiphObIC BEcauSE IT's JUST a prEfereNCE!"

And I don't understand how someone can be so narrow-minded when it comes to understanding that a statement like "Bisexual people are more likely to be cheaters" doesn't magically become not biphobic just because you put a "I don't want to date a bisexual person because..." in front of it. How does that logically even add up in their minds? The fact that they can so unabashedly and with so much conviction state these really emotionally charged takes about this subject just speaks on the oblivious nature of bigotry. It's never about what's true—it's always about vibes.

Bigotry always manifests as a "preference," but people just act like, for some reason, the nature of these bigoted preferences becomes not bigoted when it's in the context of dating. An employer saying, "I only want to hire whites because they're the smartest and most hard-working race" has a "preference" for white workers, and many people would think it's ridiculous to say "This employer can't be racist because it's just a preference!"

And this goes both ways. Not only does this logic excuse bigoted EXCLUSIONARY dating preferences, but it also gives things like FETISHISM a pass. One thing I'm tired of is people acting like racial fetishism is not a form of racism. It is. Racial fetishism is rooted in harmful generalizations. There's no denying that. People really think that just because a form of racism is "benevolent," then that makes it not racism. This being false is one of the easiest things to understand about racism, but cracKKKers continue to get away with it because your average cracKKKer does not actually give a damn about unlearning white supremacy. So long as a form of racism is socially acceptable and easy for them to get away with, cracKKKers don't tend to care about it. Anti-racism and statements against white supremacy serve as a virtue signaling game for them.

[-] [email protected] 9 points 4 weeks ago

Am I glad you mentioned employment because that is precisely where my mind went as well.

[-] [email protected] 15 points 1 month ago

Then they never question why they have these """"preferences."""" They'll say the same weasel shit about trans people, too. I do not understand how a person can reject entire groups like that.

I don't mean to hornypost, but Tyra Banks, Hunter Schafer, Salma Hayek, Ana de Armas, Halle Berry, and Pam Grier are all hot. How the hell do you match with people like that and be all "Sorry not into ______" as though they're beneath you? You're on a fucking app you should consider yourself lucky to match with anyone lmao.

Saw Sinners a couple days ago - great movie. Wasn't expecting it to get so real

spoilerWhen they talk about that night being the only slice of freedom they could get, and white supremacy tried to destroy it like everything it touches...nearly had me tearing up by the end thinking "it can't be like this forever".

I loved the vampire leader and his attempts to relate the oppression of the Irish to our black protagonists, how they were forced to abandon their culture and language and work for the benefit of a parasite class - literally so he can get in and kill them! It created some real sympathy for a second before reminding "DON'T TRUST WHITEY!". I wasn't expecting this visceral representation of people seeking respite from white supremacy and the realities of "assimilation" in my vampire horror movie.

Oh, and the music was just perfect. The scene of spirits of past and future visiting was beautiful and tragic in the face of what was to come - and melancholy in the context of the society they lived and we continue to live in.

Michael B Jordan was great as the twins, but I loved Wunmi Mosaku. She killed it as Annie. I thought Smoke's last scene was fun but was a bit of a cheesy tonal shift - the violent catharsis after the night of tension was maybe necessary though, and I did get teary at him seeing Annie and holding his baby.

I give it 9/10 pure kino.

[-] [email protected] 8 points 4 weeks ago

SinnersI loved the "free"folk paying in whatever they can because they themselves aren't paid in real money and community just letting things slide because that's how we survive. Small tidbit but I felt that in my core. I wasn't convinced to NOT be a vampire personally

exclusioni hate that i have roots from everywhere but i'm welcome nowhere. ostracized from my arab country because i'm only half-native, would be ostracized from russia because i'm not slavic and my skin is brown, i'd be ostracized from the only central asian country i have ties to because of their growing russophobia. also precluded from having a good life in all 3 of those countries because of trans.

anyway learning chinese and fucking off there just so i can add one more country to this lovely ostracismlist.

Angel’s posts have inspired me to try and restart my journey into veganism. I was recommended a vegan diet by my doctor because of hereditary high cholesterol that’s been the cause of death for most of the men in my family. I started off okay but found it hard because I’m in a small rural town where beef is a huge part of life and the culture is still trying to understand vegetarianism, let alone Veganism. Seeing Angel’s posts have made me want to try again.

I figure it’s worth a trip to the city for some ingredients I can’t grow myself or find locally. There’s also more options than I thought because I recently learned vegan options have become more common because of new mothers requesting them.

More to that HR at that medical receptionist job giving me a hard time at my current job, apparently one of the decision makers that interviewed me thought it'd be precious to write a bad review (and I know it was her due to the content of the review), The patronizing horseshit to my face wasn't bad enough, the review was so bad management at my job posted in the breakroom by where you clock in. I knew this retail hell job was on limited time but yikes, so whenever someone naively asks what's the worst that can happen when you apply to a job well there's no limit to the badness that can happen.

To make matters worse management thinks I'm not concerned about it and made comments about it to other workers, I may have anxiety especial the social kind, but I'm good at dissociating and looking stoic. I always wondered what my constant dissociating looked like to others, guess at least I learned it looks like 'calm', great to know. Just because I'm not bawling doesn't mean I don't feel anything, my other jobs you have a show of emotion or disability and its firing time. I think its like that with all jobs tbh.

[-] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago

Atp they must want you to dance for peanuts and put on a show for them, because i don’t get in what world you being externally calm and collected is a bad thing.

[-] [email protected] 8 points 1 month ago

Me neither, when I overheard that I was like 'wut'. I'm supposed to dance and sob for an abusive minimum wage part time job.

Apparently they done fucked so badly when corporate visited today they took the review of shame with them. I still don't know how long this job will last, but at least I know for certain I don't need to worry about any 2weeks nonsense, I'll just ghost if a miracle happenss and I find something else. Wish I took a picture of that review to build a case against the medical hr for being unforgivable assholes. I never thought corporate would side against them.

I don't know if it's off the mark or something but does it feel weird seeing talks about the Indian and Pakistan escalation specifically thinking because they're nuclear powers, they're going to use their nukes. I don't keep up with war technology, but I'm sure only the white man used nukes. Not all world powers are as bloodthirsty as the west.

But I could be wrong and in my feelings.

Life’s been good lately. Not everything’s perfect - far from it.

But I like how things are going right now. There’s progress and can’t expect much more than that.

[-] [email protected] 8 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago)

The song so far

It's gonna be a long one! When it is done, it might even surpass the track that is currently the longest which is 7:25. Right now, it being around the 5-minute mark gives me 37 minutes of debut album material.

The structure of it right now is:

  • 0:00 to 2:12 is the long proggy instrumental intro.
  • 2:13 to 2:33 introduces the main theme of the song.
  • 2:34 to 2:51 is Verse 1.
  • 2:52 to 3:06 is the Chorus.
  • 3:07 to 3:22 is the Post-Chorus.
  • 3:23 to 3:41 is Verse 2.
  • 3:42 to 4:24 is a variation of the Chorus and Post-Chorus.
  • 4:25 is 4:57 is the backing track for the guitar solo I'm gonna write later.

I was thinking of having it continue with some sort of bridge that brings back the instrumental intro, like the acoustic lick but in a chuggier fashion. I'm thinking more about how in "...And Justice For All" by Metallica, it starts off with a clean lick and then that same clean lick comes back in a chuggier form later in the song.

After that, one more solo that uses the verse as the backing track instead of the chorus, one more chorus, and then an outro of some sorts.

After this, I plan on writing 2 more tracks and I'll consider the debut album instrumentals written. One of those 2 tracks is gonna be rather short, like 2 and a half minutes.

I did an updated remix of my heaviest song, The Ultimate Fate of the Universe.

I think my production skills are getting less shitty... heh.

[-] [email protected] 8 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

I'm getting to the point where I find conversations that boil down to "White Supremacy is bad" is getting really tiring. It's like a solved equation. Yes it's bad, but at a certain point we need to begin to think new thoughts. I just don't want to hear another PoC tell me that "and the reason why XYZ is bad, is because of racism" OF COURSE IT IS DUDE! WHAT THE FUCK NOW!?! WHAT DO WE DO? HOW DO WE MOVE PAST THIS IN SOME WAY?

I guess i'm just tired of having racism explained to me. I feel like hades.

[-] [email protected] 11 points 3 weeks ago

My frustration is often with liberals who don't understand racists revel in their racism, don't care about hypocrisy, and think we can simply explain how racism is bad will change the racists' minds. We all know this shit and we've known for decades. They know and don't care. They actively decide they'd rather steal shit and hurt people.

And even worse is they think if we change whoever is on top, it will end racism. Libs will advocate for this immediately after they've mentioned systemic racism.

Hampton said it best: you don't fight white supremacy with black supremacy. You fight it with socialism. But liberals wouldn't be liberals if they advocated for communism, which they equate with fascism.

(I definitely think I just did the thing you mentioned in explaining racism lol...hope it's not too irritating)

Official Title of this Community: Ethnic Minorities and People of Color

Why is the title different?

We like to have fun here.

What is this place? A safe space for underrepresented peoples and peoples of color to talk, chill, and vibe.

What are the basic rules of the community?

  1. Follow Lemmy TOS and Community Guidelines. Non negotiable. This is the bedrock and mods will make decisions with this always in mind.

  2. This community is for ethnic minorities and people of color. This is a safe space where such people can freely discuss their struggles, insight, and thoughts without fear. If you are not, we respectfully ask you do not post or comment here. A future community will be established to allow for racial discussions with a mixed userbase. However, remember, comments here must still respect Lemmy TOS and Community Guidelines.

  3. Irony Racism is still racism. Racism is bad m'kay? We will treat irony racism and bad faith racist satire as racism. Will wield the ban hammer accordingly.

  4. No sectarianism: This is an identity channel not a channel for you all to complain about why XYZ isn't the "one true leftism". Take that to another place.

  5. Stupidpol is not allowed. Stupidpol is class reductionist. We are an identity community. Thinking like stupidpol ignores the struggles of the oppressed, their voices, and their need for unique support. Nothing says oppression more than someone saying that the identity you have is "not real" and that if you only thought like them you'd see what your "real" identity is. Mods reserve the right to ban users and content who promote stupidpol, stupidpol memes, and other class reductionist thinking.
