The trick here is solidarity.

You are absolutely right that in truly hostile environments being alone will just get you fucked over quicker. But even 2 armed people make a completely different prospect for some random asshole looking to make trouble.

And having a milita that can guard events, like some left wing clubs have done from drag story time etc can be truly life changing for safety. Even in groups these guys are cowards who back down under a united front. Even the sort of nazi skinheads who are looking for a street brawl balk at guns

The way I look at it, this doesn't end until a lot of us have gotten comfortable with slabbing out bigots. The whole purpose of Stonewall was so forgotten that we have entire enclaves of queers not just lobbying for cops and corporations, but outright welcoming our existential enemies into our midst. Personal opinion, I feel we need to cultivate an air of "fuck around and IMMEDIATELY find out" in our spaces with these kinds. If you're still bound by respect for the laws of the evil empire tho, I'm not gonna labor the point-- we all make our journeys in our own time, and I can't really force an acceptance of the concept.
